  • How do you go about composing music? I am trying and I keep on finding myself playing tunes that already exist! God your good.

  • Would there be any possibilty of you doing a lesson for this song I'm mesmorized by it to the point where just getting the notes only half right won't do, this is truly genious, and I would much appreciate learning this song in its entirety the way it was meant to be played

  • OMG LOVELY !

  • 0:12! Insane!

  • Sounds like something from Candy Rat label. Awesome!

  • you're not just a brilliant guitar player martin....your vocal harmony arrangements are fantastic too!! i so dig your style and groove. keep them coming.

  • Such beautiful sophistry. You have a great feel. Top, top stuff.

  • wow...just wow..don't know how to express the songs feeling in another way... thumps up, keep it on man, you're fantastic ;)

  • i can't get it out of my head ... I heare this song every day xD

  • this song is so awesome ^^

  • Martin, you should check into amaze.fm

  • Amazing song, do you have the tab on your website for this one?

  • Amazing song, do you have the tab on your website for this one?

  • is this standard tuning?

  • @TtEkSoF Yeah its in standard tuning and whats more... Due to Martins immense kindness there is even a link in the info for the free tab :) Hope you do well with it as its hard to play as he does but sooo worth the challenge!

  • @davidheroX5 ok thanks!, ill give it a go!!

  • I like the guitar but the vocals are distasteful.

  • .. and thank you for playing :) you're awesome.. :)) chapeau bas!

  • Hey Martin, Do you ever make it to the United States? This country needs your beautiful guitar playing to show what a true talent you are and how this type of music is lacking in our country. Outstanding as always. Jim

  • awesome

  • wow this is the first time i've heard of this guy real good music

  • Martin, I have never seen anyone appear to have as much fun as you do when playing the guitar; nor have I seen anyone better. You are incredible..

  • Martin - Good stuff(!) I was just wondering - what is the backing track you're using? Home grown / friends or is it from a known professional group? Thanks!

  • super emocje

  • Thanks, sorry about the late reply...

  • New Age style? i only like Martin style

  • Great confidence and passion. I always come back to your channel. You're probably the best guitarist on here, and I've seen a lot!

  • i love the sound at 0:13

  • breathtaking ..............

  • Nice video. What guitar are you using?

  • He is using a Loef guitar. They are handmade guitars, and from his playing, have a beautiful sound.

  • its Loef !

  • I was just recently introduced to your music by a fellow guitarist. All of your music just pours from your soul. In your rendition of "the rose" you look as though your making love to your guitar. It is so obvious your intense love of music... thank you for sharing your wonderful gift and love.....

  • Can you believe he did not go to a college for music theory!?

  • Man.... I've just seen AUGUST RUSH. Now, I'm watching you playing, you give me a nostalgic feeling of the movie.

    Great talent there brother.

  • there is NO reason on this planet earth this song should not be a hit. It is as musically pure, inspired, and beautiful as can be, I think. There is too little of this kind of thing in the mainstream. By far.

  • Thanks mate, glad you like it - one problem, I guess, is getting radio to play it in the first place...

    Cheers

    Martin

  • Is it possible to play this sort of music with a pick?

  • Hi, I guess everything is possible, but it would be tricky to do the percussive effects like the thumb does, and you might have to use hybrid picking with pick + middle, ring AND little finger. You can also use a thumbpick, which I often do, but on this one I liked the softer sound of the bass notes.

  • Hi Martin! As a fellow guitarist, I just had to say I love the way you use artificial harmonics in this song.. great melody. I also like the way you put in some soft keyboard chords to add fill in some of your songs/cover arrangements, it makes them sound so soft. Great work! You've got me interested in fingerstyle all over again :)

Hilsen från Island / kveðjur frá Íslandi :)

  • Hello!

Nice to hear from Island, glad you appreciate the style - yeah, I have a weak spot for the smoothness/ air that comes from keyboards/ soft pads...

    Thank you for listening

    Hälsningar från Sverige :)

  • oooh what a nice song ..... makes me cry

  • Hi Martin,

i really love this piece! Just bought a new guitar that makes these chords sing. thnx for all the inspiration,

    JP

  • Thanks JP, what guitar is it?

  • After trying taylors , martins, bleuridge and a whole buunch of guitars in 10 different shops I went for the LAG winter GLA400DCE model, nice.

  • Fantastic!!! How did I only discover you today?

  • I keep a low profile :)

  • Well so much for your low profile, cause I`m talking about you to all the pickers I know. You`re pickin is great.

  • Haha skit najs. Håller på o lära mig denna nu. Kan man få sångtexten också... ^^?

  • Hej - tack! Här är texten:

Standin´ in the middle of nowhere

Keeps on pourin´ down from everywhere, child

    (Said alright)

Somewhere up ahead there´s a rainbow

Reachin´ higher than you´ll ever know

    (Got lost in the rain)

  • GOD, THIS IS AWESOME!!!! Greetings from St. Petersburg

  • Thank you very much, nice to hear from you.

    Martin

  • the string-tapping reminds me of Andy McKee and Antoine Dufour. Good song!

  • thanks, tack! I wrote this song after checking out some Andy McKee-videos, so he is the inspiration!

  • Han är otrolig! Såg han i Göteborg förra hösten och det var bland det bästa jag sett!

  • if u sing this song will be cool!!u can sing??

  • no, not really.... :)

  • Is it you singing?

  • hmm, yes, although it´s mostly "studio magic"

    :)

  • Martin, I don't think it's overproduced at all. You are one righteous picker, man. You've inspired me to start building my chops again. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome talents.

  • great work dude as always!! how did you do the vocals?

  • Hi and thanks!

I record the audio to my computer in Cakewalk Sonar, multitrack recording software. There I can add other tracks like vocals, percussion or keyboards, for example.

It´s a lot of fun (i like the arranging/ producing process), and I have to stop myself so I don´t let it get out of hand...

    :)

  • Perfect, like allways!

  • hey martin i consider myself lucky to be on your mailing list my friend .You are awesome don't ever lost sight of your dreams ! arriscraft

  • you`re a very talented guitar player! wow you have it in your fingers.... i like the joy in your play, that`s the right way! RESPECT

  • Hi! I really love the way you performance the music, you feel it and its very cool! This song is a beautiful melody which I can identify myself...!! Your accents are very original!!

  • Martin - The groove is great with the thumb accents and especially with the tap then pause and then tapped bass slide back into the theme again. Well constructed pauses add dynamic tension to a tune and can enhance it as this one does. Keep up the pauses!

  • I just love the feeling of this song, You play it with such passion Martin, difficult song to learn? what tuning is it in, looks like capo on 2nd fret. 5 stars on this submission!

    Thanks for sharing,

    Brian "woodwerk01"

  • Hello Brian, thanks for the appreciation!

It could be difficult depending on current "level of playing" but that´s always hard to say... The rhythm accents, or beats, I do with the right hand thumb was a new trick I picked up recently, that felt a bit akward at first.

The tuning is standard, and most of the chords are pretty easy to fret.

We´ll see if a tab shows up... :)

    Cheers

    Martin

  • A really good song, sweet snappy guitar playing, nice overlay of the lyrics.well recorded - great job 5*.Rgds Tony

  • Hey Tony, thank you!

    Glad you like it.

    Regards Martin

  • awesome performance

  • Great playing Martin.

    Pete

  • Great accents and a couple of chords sounded Bruce Cockburnish..really enjoyed :) 5

  • Martin, I really enjoyed this! The vocals over it sounded awesome.

I always look forward whenever you upload a new video. This is one of the reasons why! So gooood.

    Stanley

  • Absolutely perfect!

  • tastefull ingredients mixed to a feast for the ears - *****

  • AAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAZINGLY GREAT!!!!

    Chris

  • Outstanding, and not "overproduced" at all Martin! 5***** -Derek

  • Hello Derek - thank you so much for all your fantastic responses!

    Regards

    Martin

  • 很完美!

    I really love it,

and thank you and Pascal for the share!

  • The guitar is such a wonderful instrument. It's a bass, a drumkit, a harp and a piano at the same time, and you blend all of these in a unique and exciting way.

    Thanks, Qpidon!

  • Nice rhythmic picking creates an atmospheric enjoyable tune - well done. I especially enjoyed the heavy pull offs, the descending bass slides on the bass strings and thought they added to the tune. It had a similar pleasing effect overall in the same way as "Apologise" by Tommy Paldanius on Youtube as the refrain repeats over and over.

  • I had to come back to listen and view again. Seems you had quit a Tsunami of comments....I'm not surprised. But surprised nobody commented on your Color input during the video, what a great idea...

Again, I love this tune a BUNCH,

    Pascal

P.S. if I tell you I hear some "Fleetwood Mac", would that raise your hair?

  • P.F. -- someone should hand you a contract and get a CD of material like this rolling. You're a very fine guitarist and I'm sure this stuff would have wide appeal. If you need an entertainment/music attorney, let me know.

  • Hi Martin :) i was trying to download this beautiful music of yours from your website but i only get a quicktime version and cant download it on my pc...what am i doing wrong? :) as well i would love to have the tabs for this song if possible...would love that :) keep rockin and big hug from me :) cheers Mira

  • Hi Mira, thanks for the appreciation! Have you tried to right-click the link and choose "Save target as"? It´s an mp3 file and your standard player should then be able to play it back. You probably have a setting with QuickTime as default player...

I´ll think about the tabs :)

    Cheers

    Martin

  • thanks :) its working now :) and ...thanks for the tabs thinking lol

    xx mira

  • Thanks to Qpidon for the share. This is lovely stuff.

  • Thanks for listening! Yeah, Pascal (Qpidon) is the man...

  • Your right hand technic is fantastic, and the result is that this arrangement is awesome and super groovy.

    The best my friend.

    Patrice

  • Hello Patrice, thanks for the nice comment!

The technique with hitting the bass strings with the thumb for the percussive effect is quite new to me, but it seems to be very useful when playing this kind of solo stuff.

    Cheers

    Martin

  • I could listen to this player over & over, every post has such felling & soul put into it.

Thanks Pascal for sending the link!

    Keep pickin my friend,

  • Hey Brian! Thank you for tuning in, so glad you enjoy my playing.

    Martin

  • Cool and groovy. Makes me almost regret abandoning my Taylor steel string.

  • Thank you! Yeah, I used to play mostly nylon (after my electric period) but currently the steel string is in focus. Tried to keep the nails, although the wear and tear is sometimes an issue.

    Later

    Martin

  • Hej! This is just beautiful!! Sigh... I love it!

Tack för din musik! Gör mig glad!!

    Peo

    MVH/ Martin

  • Hej Martin,

I was stuck on your website for a loooong time! You are really amazing! YOU make me wish I played steel string guitar. Since Tommy Emmanuel (my biggest "hero" even if I am a classical guitarist) no one could do this to me!

    And yes, aren't Marie's the best!!?? :-)

    See you!

    Peo

  • Hey man!

    That´s great..awesome!

    Very good sound,groove and feeling!
