i watched this jam about a year ago and come back to it every couple of months. it's just as delicious as when i first view it. just wish i was there. sexy stuff.
I am very proud to say that me and my Brother Javi recorded that video as a present to Guthrie Govan. A way to say thanks to all those Thursdays. They are all incredible! by the way if you see Zak Barret please send him my very best regards from the spanish guy who used to sit always on the front seats lol.
Man I saw Guthrie last time he played the Bassment and there is just no greater musical pleasure than watching these two guys trade fours IMHO, they're incredible.
I certainly agree, i went to see em yesterday and i didnt even know they played in chelmsford, i just wanted to go to the bassment to check it out and was treated to this!!!
Awesome, I was there too; got Guthrie to sign my copy of Erotic Cakes. Dave Kilminster being there was an unbelievable treat too...one of the most musically fulfilling nights of my life, no doubt.
it was insanely impressive, especially zak's solos, such a sweet sax tone. but did you notice how seth looked kinda depressed? when did zak say the whole band would be playing together again? since its definately worth another 200 mile journey to chelmsford
As far as i can make out Seth always looks like that, or at least he has both times I've seen them, lol. I don't know when they'll be playing together again, I was talking to Guthrie during the break and he didn't really mention it, I was busy being a fanboy and asking when he was going to tour the Erotic Cakes material again, haha, obviously it won't be until the new year now at least though.
I have never heard of this guy before today, I found him on a myspace link on the Mindwalk Blvd page. It blew me away wow!!!!!!!! Where is this guy from and what are some of the bands he has played in. What a talent. If you want to check out another unknown talent check out Monte Montegomery.
Remember that it took a long while for Satch and EJ to get "discovered" back in the 80's. GG is sort of where they were before they broke through to the mainstream. GG was just named the "Best New Talent" on the Guitar Player magazine's Readers' Poll. He's not far off from getting mainstream recognition. Us GG fans need to keep spreading the word. The thing about GG is that even non-musicians and non-players can appreciate and enjoy what Guthrie does.
I'm glad that Guthrie is finally getting some recognition from the major guitar publications(it's about friggin' time and well deserved). I personally think he should be voted simply "Best Guitarist". Thanks for all the awsome vids alexkhan2000, got any more?
I gotta agree with you. I can't even think of anybody who comes close. Sure there are tons of great players, but none come close to Guthrie. A sad fact is that I have not heard of him in the major guitar publications, I found out about him through the bluesjamtrax. Now he's my hands down favoutite.
Yes I am proud to say that I was on the right of that video recorder next to my brother who was in fact recording the concert in the bassment that Thursday night. It is a pitty that the light was so poor then. Anyway still good and it is great to see it on youtube too. Thank you Alex
That's his brother on bass here too right it seems.
