  • At 7:45 it look like american have copied the osprey design from Late Red Army....

  • @Shahzaib0332 Here is a good vid for you: /watch?v=44pSDvWI2mc

Idea of vertical take off and landing existed since WW II and there are different approaches and solutions to create a convertiplane. Ka-22 is a gyrodyne. V-22 Osprey is a tilt-rotor. Two different approaches. A tiltrotor aircraft can't be copy of a gyrodyne.

  • It seems that during years 1955-1975 the life in USSR does not seem so bad as the west has portrayed it...Life was more simple but hey money is not the measure of life and that your are just happy overall. Rich people have usually more stress and less love.

  • @normison69 Only till 75? I would easily add another decade making it to '85.

Life in US was also much simpler at those years without overconsumption of hyper-technological gadgets, right?

  • @BitnikGr Yea true for USSR untill 85 maybe, because one main causes of USSR downfall was the Chernobyl accident wich cost 1 billion rubles to contain and that time one ruble was equal to one dollar and it was year 86 money when dollar was very high. But in US the "simple life" ended in beginning of 80s when came Credit Cards and Street Gang wars etc etc and the overconsumption started in US at beginning of 80s imo.

  • @normison69 $1 = 0.67ruble in USSR. The rate was fixed, but it didn't necessary represented a real economic value of Soviet currency and efficiency of its economy.

Phil Donahue had organized TV-bridge USA-USSR where simple people could talk to each other and it was proved that simple people of two so different super powers actually wanted the same things. To love, to be loved, to make a family, to have healthy children. Commonality on everyday life issues was staggering.

  • @BitnikGr So where is the big evil in USSR? It seems the Russians and Soviets overall have never hated the Americans and the people wanted the same things on both sides, love and families. But only "Evils" were in both sides goverments wich trough propaganda made Soviets look evil and Soviet propaganda made US look evil.

  • @normison69 The only real problem in post-war relations of the USA and the USSR was that their spheres of influence and interest were overlapping. If they would be separated without points of contacts then we probably could avoid entire Cold War era stage.

    ...

  • @normison69 ...

None system was perfect. The USSR hadn't democratic values and political freedoms for its citizens. And the USA, despite it is the youngest of modern democratic states and counts 300 years, had racism issues till 70s.

Another problem is that communism of the USSR was aggressive. They wanted domination of labor class all around the world through revolutions from inside in capitalistic countries... But hey... doesn't modern "democracy" do the same today? :)))

  • @BitnikGr Yea but USA had also very aggressive Capitalism dog eat dog, and the divide between the poor and rich was at the highest in US during 80s, also it had very aggressive War policies and still has. Sad imo.

  • @BitnikGr Yes indeed to your last remark.

  • OMG, English version of Wing of Russia))

  • Interesting the narrator said that there is probobly no country where Mi-8 did not operate. Would Russia be willing to sell any Mi-8's to the USA? Atleast maybe civil varients if not military varients?

  • @88mroux An export version of Mi-8 is a Mi-17 and people and companies in the USA buy Mi-17 for several years already. Furthermore, Pentagon buys Mi-17 for Iraqi and Afghan Armies.

Just last week future version of Mi-171A2 was presented in US exhibition HeliExpo-2012.

  • @BitnikGr Cool.

  • @88mroux ты уже здесь....)))))))

  • 07:57 nomnomnomnom

  • MI-24 is a beast :)

  • TheReadersChoice, I guess you have been owned, LMAO

  • Look at the comrades at 04:41 :D

  • @fluffy1931 I don't allow personal insults in my videos. Your comment is removed. You may repost it without insulting part. Thank you.

  • is this documentary available in Russian?

  • @Crawlerz2468 Yes.

    Watch it at statehistory.ru

  • @BitnikGr thank you kindly sir

  • @BitnikGr

are there Any more wings Of Russia Dcumentaries?? MODERN ONES

  • @devastatermir372 Yes. Many of them. But they are all in Russian.

  • @BitnikGr

So when can u Expect them to Be translated in english????? Especially in intriguing voice Of Sir Peter Ustinov The Great................:-)

  • @devastatermir372 Sir Peter Ustinov narrated Discovery's "Wings of the Red Star". Not the "Wings of Russia" :)

  • @BitnikGr

when devastatermir372 said modern ones, does that mean the fighters one would include the new T-50? And the bombers one include PAK-DA?

  • @boffinboy100 No. "Wings of Russia" studio makes documentaries about Soviet and Russian Army branches from the past of the history, till today. They don't work on future projects.

  • lol, i was always told never to step into a russian heli unless i wanted to died

  • @TheRidersChoice And who was so stupid enough to tell you such thing? :)

I hope you was smart enough to not believe them.

  • @BitnikGr several retired navy pilots, and its true if you look at the reliailty of them they really suck. The pentagon has made a formal decleration about this. Also the large majority of them are way to vulnerable to arms fire.

  • @TheRidersChoice Actually it you, who sucks. And your imaginary "retired navy pilots".

You said "if you look"... Well, I suggest you to look, instead of saying "to look". Present statistics of crashes due mechanical failures.

Present link to document you claim from Pentagon.

Large majority of helicopters world wide are way to vulnerable to fire arms, just as planes.

Reality is that all Mi-8 variants are world record holders for reliability!

    ...

  • @TheRidersChoice ...

Another reality is that Pentagon spends US taxpayers money in order to buy Russian choppers for Iraq and Afghanistan (Mi-17). Russians tripled the price of Mi-17 and still Pentagon buys them. When Congress asked why so much money has to be spent on Russian choppers, Pentagon answered that US doesn't have suitable choppers for such mountainous and dusty environment. And that's are real facts, not your imaginary Pentagon's "declaration".

  • @TheRidersChoice liveleak . com/view?i=dc1_1276958944

Take this and show to your friend too.

Don't come back without proof of existing of Pentagon's "formal declaration" about poor reliability of Russian choppers and without official statistics for chopper crashes due mechanical failure from official organizations.

  • @TheRidersChoice First, watch this: /watch?v=LHktaFMpVQI

Second, I did some research for you.

    helicopterannual . org/portals/27/pdf/ann_p2c5.pdf

    Fatal helicopter crashes in North America. 2004-33, 2005-26, 06-25, 07-23, 08-29.

Every year USA and Canada have more lethal helicopter crashes than 12.000(!) Mi-8/Mi-17 helicopters flying hundreds of millions flight hours in 50(!) countries around the world since 1969! Only 20 crashes in 50 years due mechanical failure!

    So, zip it!

  • @BitnikGr hmmi wonder why? could it be that americans ten to fly more than russians? It the same as saying men get in more accidents than women, its cuz they drive more

  • @TheRidersChoice Ok! How about rates per 100.000 flying hours?

Helicopter accident rate per 100,000 flying hours. (hellicopterannual com)

    USA: 2004 - 7.1, 2005 - 6.32, 2006 - 4.94, 2007 - 5.07, 2008 - 3.67

15 CIS countries (source MAK - International Aviation Committee Report, page 12)

    mak.ru/russian/info/doclad_bp/2008/files/bp07.pdf

    2003 - 2.3, 2004 - 4.3, 2005 - 3, 2006 - 1.7, 2007 - 2.2

    Satisfied?

    ...

  • @BitnikGr We might have more of lesser quality, but remember quantity has a quality all of it's own.

  • @TheRidersChoice ...

If you would talk about shitty Lada cars and death toll because of driving accidents, then you would be right and I wouldn't say a word.

But MIL helicopters are not LADAs. Mi-8/14/17 is the most mass produced, the most exported and undoubtedly the safest chopper in history of aviation.

  • 23:19 look at that forest down there

  • @Duke0Forever Yes, there are places in Russia where you can't see anything else than forest to the horizon toward all directions, while flying in helicopter.

  • @BitnikGr i tought about forest under that girl's arm

  • @Duke0Forever Oh! :)))

Well, shaving of body hair was a quite rare habit 25 years ago. :)

  • The Mi-6 had the Mi-10... Where is the Mi-10 of the Mi-26?! The Mi-26 is already hauling some 27 tonnes, If it had a -10 variant, it can haul 30 or possibly 40, especially with a 3rd engine....... Or Mi can build a super size tandem rotor with 3 engines hauling 40 tonnes.

  • KA-22 looks like it could have been the grand daddy of the V-22 Osprey :o

  • i feel that this will be good video.. im tired of watching american military hardwares...

  • damn dats a big ass helo

  • @jobcadag I wouldn't say that look is directly connected with a cost. I wouldn't call SU-27 or T-90 tanks ugly designs. Neither I would call F-35 as a beautiful plane. From the other hand SU-24/25 do indeed have a not so attractive look. And F-14 and F-22 are very beautiful aircrafts.

Just to underline that an aesthetic look is not directly depended on cost of equipment.

  • where is the episode 15? , i cant find it :D

  • @kmikalauskas18 Just search Youtube for "Wings of Russia (Episode 15 of 18)" :)

    Here it is

    /watch?v=IcUjLzbVoqo

  • history

  • i love the v-12

  • Seeing this video serial, the former USSR was not so secrecy about their military equipments. Even so I have a feeling that the western media had been trying hard to understate world records booked by Russian aircraft

  • I really like it. I'm intrigued by russian aviation.

  • these guys who flew over Chernobyl were really heroic!

  • @granskare almost all of them ended up dying of leukimia, muscle dystrophy, bone cancer etc etc

  • @iamnobodyism Most of volunteers who worked for 9 months on ground zero in NYC also suffer very strong problems with their health today... including cancers. And that's why they are heroes. They offered themselves to work on dangerous site regarding the danger.

  • Was it originally in english or did you translate all this ?

  • @MG42Power This is an original English narration from studio "Krilya Rossii" (Wings of Russia).

  • @BitnikGr ah, I see. Thanks for posting these videos anyway.

  • @MG42Power You are welcome. I suggest you to watch "Wings of the Red Star" serie by Discovery channel as well. They are very interesting and informative documentaries, except of the episode about SU-25.
