Thank you for the Video, Ottmar is a great song writer and also one of the few New Age Flamenco players that actually plays with proper technique. He is not a flashy player but he writes great melodies and knows how to sell Albums. Despite all the critics, you have to give the guy some credit for selling out large venues and appealing to a wide range of audience. To me he is like the Moby of Flamenco music.

I also find Ottmar's music refreshing and upbeat - love to listen to him and have seen him perform live. He's pretty magical. Like others have said - if you no like then no listen!

In an interview he said he only studied flamenco six months and just afterwards blew it off saying "It's a Spanish thing.. not having been born there, I would never dream of calling myself a traditional flamenco player". In another he said true flamenco is hard to listen to and that most traditional people are not the players but the critics who want purity for their little thing like "I cant play it , but I know what its supposed to be." Dude shut up, you don't know what your talking about! :-/
I just like PROPER music and can't deal with this washed out background music (and he's everywhere). His music is not that chilled either, it's more like 'it doesn't come from anywhere and doesn't go anywhere either', but I guess we go at it from different angles.
Liebert is DEFFINETLY NOT a flamenco player, and yes there are different flavors of flamenco, But this is NOT one of them. I love Lieberts music, his touch, and his style, as well as Armik, Jesse cook, strunz and farah etc... But the truth is NONE of those guys i just mentioned play flamenco music, the fact that the masses call it "Nuevo flamenco" does not make it so. The music is beautiful and it's all that matters in the end, but it's NOT FLAMENCO
Ottmar Liebert has been one of my favourite guitarists since the very early 90s
when I first saw him (where I can not remember) anyone of his CDs is great background music for a romantic and erotic evening. Even go so far as to say it has Tantric qualities.

Excellent. I have known and loved Ottmar's music since 1994 and he was a HUGE hit in Italy that year with Nouveau Flamenco - played in discos everywhere. Pure magic.
Haven't heard of him before - someone - a freind - just included this loop in a bulletin - amazing - not pure jazz - not spanish - not...impossible to classify - but amazing fretting..

I think ottmar is one of the most boring and overrated spanish guitarists out there.I you folks think he is good then you would probably be blown away by the likes of armik, jesse cook or even oscar lopez and ardeshir farah!!! The genre of Ottmar is not the typical Flamenco, infact he is know as the Father of the "Nouveau Flamenco", that's the genre you can hear in this sample track. He is quite distant from the genre of Cook, Lopez, Govi, Amigo, etc..
Ottmar is Ottmar, and no one other like him.
(I mean that his genre is the only one like he plays)

Tienes razon Ottmart esta muuuy lejos de Vicente Amigo ,Gerardo Nu~es y muchos otros que admiro,pero es que Ottmart nunca a dicho que el toca flamenco ,es la gente la que lo hubica en esa categoria y las companias disqueras como "Nouvo Flamenco" ,lo de el son melodias sencillas que el crea en su guitarra y veo que tiene mucho publico a mi me gusta el flamenco y tambien me gusta lo que hace Ottmart

the expressionless face shows nothing about how good of a musician he is. all it shows is that he is either concentrated or bored with the music. i dont really like this, and i do find it boring, but thats just my opinion. that doesnt mean everyone has to hate me for it, we just dont like that same types of music

In an interview he said he only studied flamenco six months and just afterwards blew it off saying "It's a Spanish thing.. not having been born there, I would never dream of calling myself a traditional flamenco player". In another he said true flamenco is hard to listen to and that most traditional people are not the players but the critics who want purity for their little thing like "I cant play it , but I know what its supposed to be." Dude shut up, you don't know what your talking about! :-/

I just like PROPER music and can't deal with this washed out background music (and he's everywhere). His music is not that chilled either, it's more like 'it doesn't come from anywhere and doesn't go anywhere either', but I guess we go at it from different angles.

Liebert is DEFFINETLY NOT a flamenco player, and yes there are different flavors of flamenco, But this is NOT one of them. I love Lieberts music, his touch, and his style, as well as Armik, Jesse cook, strunz and farah etc... But the truth is NONE of those guys i just mentioned play flamenco music, the fact that the masses call it "Nuevo flamenco" does not make it so. The music is beautiful and it's all that matters in the end, but it's NOT FLAMENCO

Ottmar Liebert has been one of my favourite guitarists since the very early 90s
when I first saw him (where I can not remember) anyone of his CDs is great background music for a romantic and erotic evening. Even go so far as to say it has Tantric qualities.

Excellent. I have known and loved Ottmar's music since 1994 and he was a HUGE hit in Italy that year with Nouveau Flamenco - played in discos everywhere. Pure magic.

I think ottmar is one of the most boring and overrated spanish guitarists out there.I you folks think he is good then you would probably be blown away by the likes of armik, jesse cook or even oscar lopez and ardeshir farah!!! I saw this guy once in austin TX once and I alomost went and asked for my money back!!

Te guste o no, Ottmar tiene una trayectoria muy respetable y es un gran guitarrista. Si te aburre, es una opinion valida, pero su estilo es único y muy propio. En mi opinión es muy dificil decir que un guitarrista es mejor que otro, porque es una cuestion de opinión y es subjetiva, por lo tanto creo que merece un gran respeto x la calidad de su musica y aportaciones. (Espero sepas leer español ja). Para mi, es uno de los mejores guitarristas del mundo, hito en el New Age y referencia obligada...

The genre of Ottmar is not the typical Flamenco, infact he is know as the Father of the "Nouveau Flamenco", that's the genre you can hear in this sample track. He is quite distant from the genre of Cook, Lopez, Govi, Amigo, etc..
Ottmar is Ottmar, and no one other like him.
(I mean that his genre is the only one like he plays)

The father of "Nouveau spanish guitar" maybe, but "Nouveau Flamenco"? I doubt it. Lets put it this way, when I hear his music I dont hear any "Flamenco". In fact I would say what the others do is more "nouveau flamenco" than what ottmar does. I agree ottmar is ottmar and I still think he is no good and over rated!! No offence!!
