  • My take on it always has been, that phish appreciates the fact they have a dedicated fanbase that follows them. They got popular, tickets got scarce, the expectation of new years/halloween/fest shows to have rarities, narration, and covers or extra sets etc. This is kind a thank you to the hardcore fans, and a fu to people who do the equiv of going to church on easter and christmas.

  • phuck yea!! thanks for puttin up this show man Im sure that audience had NO idea what they were in for on that 31st of October

  • @UngratefulLiving420 Considering they played Loaded by the Velvet Underground on Halloween that year, you are correct. But this was 2 days later and a non-sold out show. They learned 2 albums that year. You're right that the audience had no idea, but it was way more of a surprise because it was on 11/2 in UT. (Halloween they always cover an album)

  • @forbincol Most def. I always assumed that since they covered DSOTM in its entireity, that it WAS a Halloween show, but I recently heard the story. Wonder if they were planning on doing it or if it was a spontaneous thing based on how empty the venue was (in comparison to their other shows). I kinda feel like they couldnt decide between doing Loaded or DSOTM that year, so they did both
