if you replace your stock air filter with a cold air intake. then you will get better gas milage. also changing your 02 sensors will help. also changing a worn out muffler and catalityc converter can get better gas mileage. maintaining proper vehicle maintenance is very important.
I am saying do not expect any measurable change in fuel economy by replacing your engine air filter. EPA testing showed no measurable difference in mileage between clean and dirty filters and they have removed filter replacement from their list of things to do to improve mileage.
yeah right, change the spark plugs and the air filter every six months and you're losing a couple of hundred dollars on parts while saving 10 dollars on fuel. good deal woman, good deal!
By the way , arbitrary " every 6 months " statement is probably based on something - but a more helpful statement might be "every so-many -thousand miles like you owners manual usually suggests". The only things I do to my vehicles every 6 months is put water- remover in the gas tank & the proper amount of Chevron Fuel System product w/ Techron ( fuel injector cleaner ) on cars that don't burn a tank per month .Also see a mechanic once each year for preventive maintenance of whole vehicle.
Talked to the techs at the dealership about synthetic oils. They said they were great as long as the engine had it put in since new. Since my truck only had 108,000 ml. said that it would actually free the engine up to much and wear it out? But recommended to put high milage synthetic in it when it got more miles on it. The lady did a good job on the tutorial.
The EPA just released a study which shows replacing the engine air filter has no effect on fuel economy in a modern fuel injected car. Also, in my experience (which is substantial) "stick guages" for tire pressure work just fine so long as they are not damaged. All are accurate enough.
Tired of checking tire pressure? Try Quick Pressure tire pressure monitor caps (available from PSI 26 to PSI 165). Just replace your valve stem caps with the monitors, then the monitor will show green if the tire is properly inflated, otherwise it will start to show red. The monitors are welded, chrome plated brass, high quality.
@cchayann Full Syn Oil is not expensive & you should on average change your oil every 6-10K miles depending on the manufacturers, so i cant figure how you can say you are spending more on oil then you would save on Gas ?. I always use Fully Synthetic in my car it runs smoother and cleaner than semi Synthetic. The only thing that Acetone will do to your car is increase engine wear & prematurely wears your fuel injectors not to mention your Catalytic converter i know what I am talking about .
For mid to high mileage vehicles that broke-in with standard motor oils and operated on them for years, oil additives like Wynn's, BG Products MOA ,Justice Brothers (JB) or Restore ( you can get this one at Walmart) I'm not talking about Viscosity improvers , I am talking about the oil conditioners that reduce friction which then makes engine run cooler, better MPG , cuts engine wear . I've personally used these for over twenty years and the key is in oil changes-even in a Mercedes
@Soccerstar48344 Yes, why did you click this? You won't see the wheel of a car for a long time little one. Just keep looking up Barney or whatever you kids watch.
You wanna save on gas? Then do what we do here in Europe - Buy economical car with small DIESEL engine! Even with a $1 higher price for gallon diesel cars still cost less to operate than gasoline cars because they can make up to 40% better fuel economy in real world driving. In USA you have audi's, mercedes's, bmw's and volkswagens with very economical diesel engines. BUY them and believe me you WILL NOT be sorry. HYBRIDS can't beat Diesels for now and the batteries are very dirty when "die".
Pretty neat gal, i need her to help around my shop...8-), she forgot putting nitrogen in the tires, that helps too....as does a k&n air filter, but anyhow...
Slash down the money that you spent on Gas... HHO is suitable for cars, trucks and all kind of vehicles! There are many conversion kits available in the market, but we have to take care while choosing it. See the video response that I have posted !
If you visit the site mentioned there, you will receive a FREE copy of a 20 page eBook that describes very clearly what HHO is, how it works etc. Leading products in the market are also analysed. VISIT NOW AND TAKE ADVANTAGE !!!
One of the biggest killers of fuel economy for the last 12 years is high RPMS. Many newer smaller cars have been geared up so much the RPMS went so high that they ended up guzzling fuel mostimes worse than the larger cars.
Take out back seats and front right passenger seat take out the carpet and all of the matts and accesories not only will you improve your gas mileage but you'll also have a street car that performs like a race car less weight better braking, cornering, and acceleration trust less weight means your engine doesn't have to pump and work as hard.
o wow i didnt spell the one word right. and ya iam 16. so you dont need to be talking. and if you were smart i sead off roading 91 ford ranger. u dont need to be old enough to off road
too bad she doesn't give driving lessons, that's where real fuel economy comes from. 2-3% here and there is nothing when you drive like an idiot! drive smarter and get 50% more mileage from any well maintained car.
i can take a perfect car and get bad gas mileage, or great gas mileage on the way i drive, anyone can drive with 2 pedals at once (gas and brake), it takes a real driver to just use one pedal 99% of the time. figure it out for yourself!
you could use kipkay's video"Double Your Gas Mileage! 2X" to save you money and also double your gas mileage..in my opinon will definately help you out the most

-My gas cap doesn't make that noise.
-What did the "contact patch" have to do with anything.
-Air filters don't noticeably improve mileage.
-Tells you to check your spark plugs and change your oil, doesn't tell you how to do so...

@mfitz1969 I would consider it bad advice if you are encouraging people to not keep their air filters clean and up to date.

full synthetic oil? that is really expensive, especially for a bigger engine. your spending more on oil then you would save with gas.
semi-synthetic is the best option
boys and girls dont forget to add one oz of acetone to your tank :)
