  • I have been pet grooming for 15 years and i went to 1 year of school for it ! you know how log pet smart groomers go for?????????????? 1 week so yes you pay less but look what happens ! you get what you pay for

  • awwwww. Jackson is SUCH a cute dog!

  • I'm confused by this... there has to be a reason why the groomer shaved that area. Didi you ask to have it very short under the eye area? Was your dogs tear stains very bad? The hair does look very short, however I know that from my experience sometimes shaving hair there looks almost bald because the hair is thinner around where the whiskers are. This groomer may have used a #30 blade but I think it could also be a #10 accidentally used in reverse.

  • i'm really disappointed to see individuals call themselves "groomers' and react so badly to this video, this isn't an issue of weather or not a dog owner is capable of taking care of their animal, this video clearly shows a groomers malpractice of clearing out the stop area on this particular dog. That is clearly clipper burn, most likely caused by using a blade that is vastly too short for that area. A lesion caused by "eye gunk" would be closer to the eye, not near the nose. I'm a groomer.

  • You think it looks terrible huh? imagine how the dog is feeling! Looks like you went to Petsmart maybe you should invest in a brush so you wouldn't have to put you dog through that. I am not a groomer however for a groomer to shave a dog like that there must have been some serious mats. Poor Jackson.

  • @adminjbo shut the fuck up i brushed my bichon all day everyday for a week to see if they would tell me if its matted or not and they did so fuck petsmart

  • maybe the owner should have taken better care of the dog and some pepole have no ideal how to brush a dog and only brush out the top layer of hair and say their dog is not mattef

  • NEVER get a dog groomed at PetSmart. They are the absolute worst groomers ever. They are so rude.

  • @yoyoluc i work as a groomer at petsmart, and im never rude =[ this isnt a usual thing, but everyone is right about whoever groomed this dog. they used a 40 blade that was probably too hot. i hope whoever owns this dog didnt pay for the groom and reported it to the store manager.

  • @TheRWJFanTroll I believe that there are some polite groomers out there, like yourself. However, my dog (Lhasa Apso) was completely shaved for TWO mats when I specifically said no shaving. They could have simply cut the mats off like my current groomer does. When it came time to pick him up, the groomer did nothing but complain to me about my dog's behavior. The groomers were just not patient and rude, and we ended up getting the groom for free after complaining to a manager.

  • manager*

  • Suing them wouldn't do much, because they are a HUGE company with many lawyers. You probably wouldn't even get your money back, and they employee would probably not even get fired. Put in as many complaints to the manager as you can, make sure that other pet owners know to ask for a different groomer than the one that groomed your pet. At my local Pet Smart there are like 4 or 5 different groomers. Just make sure you let the maager of the store know that the groomer did that.

  • i have groomed dogs this is just a shame i would have sued them for all they were worth.this is a sorry sorry bunch of people for letting this kind of travisty happen.

    SUE THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • my maltipoo got groomed at petsmart. petco wouldnt even take her bc she had no shots so her first grooming was at 4.5 months she was full of eye boogers and was all dirty. baths at home werent even helping ..and they did a great job. she came out white white no eye boogers and she came out knowing how to sit on command. i loved her groomer and i will be taking her back:) .. this video was results of a bad groomer! or no experience or a mistake

  • In canada...nuff said...

  • I'm terrorfied to bring my shih-tzu/poodle mix to the groomers because of things like this.

  • My shih tzu tends to get mats there because she rubs her face into everything. When we take her into see our groomer at PetSmart she does an amazing job at blending the cut. However we still have to brush our dog at least weekly to keep the mats small enough to just cut out. Brush your dog a bit more and watch carefully every area on the dog and you will not ever have to have a cut like this again. With a short face and the stop being so far in, Shih Tzu's need their faces done every few days.

  • Yes, definately a 40 blade. Don't know why they would use that blade. I'd rather leave them longer than take a chance. I think this comes from places like Petsmart, etc that have so many dogs to do that they have them on assembly line. I would prefer a small caring groomer who is not as rushed and can pay more attention to what their doing.

  • OMG horrible. You should sue them. I never take my dogs to Petsmart but anyone I know that does does not have the best groom. That is pathetic. I am sure there are some decent groomers there but this is unacceptable.

  • i would have my foot in someone's a** if my dog looked like that ! omg that poor baby thats terrible

  • I am a groomer as well and yes that was done with a 40 blade which any groomer should not use. 40's should be used for surgery prep by vets and vet techs. Only a 10 blade should be used around the eyes to get all the eye boogers out. Sorry he went through that.

  • Omg that is so curel, I stopped taking my shih tzu and all my dogs (springers) to the groomer cause of crap like this, They always had some kinda of wound when they came home. I learned to cut my own, might not be the best cut but they are comfortable and not hurt and they look so cute after there cut, BUT MAIN THING NO ONE GOT HURT!!!

  • Its the groomer responsibility to know depending on how the dogs behavior is .... which we do not know if this dog has been socialized and has a good disposition.....I know things happen once in awhile, mainly depending on dogs reaction to things, but the face looks like the groomer didn't back off and coax a good groom out of him. both sides of the cheeks were butchered and skin traumitized..... first side I could deall with, back off, do it a different way etc. but groomer obviously not

  • poor baby :(

  • it happened to me but not a petsmart, well i changed my groomer and now i dont have any problem. An error can happen but at least the groomer should admit it.

  • Sorry people that is clipper burn done with a 30 or a 40 blade that may have been too hot too a 10 blade should have been used on this dogs face. I generally just scissor this area. Yes Shih Tzu are notorious for tearing thats why you don't use a shorter blade. Many times I will just scissor down that area and leave a fuller face. Clipper burn is not caused by bad coat care, its caused by the groomer. I can see that the groomer did not clip the face properly. I take responsiblity for my grooms

  • Would you groomers out there agree with me that it looks like that dog also has clipper burn?

  • I am a groomer and this is just bad....i worked at pet(NOT)smart for a year and the things i saw wile i worked there was awful even if the dog was matted this is not called for pet(NOT)smart takes people off the front end puts them in there "Grooming Academy" for a few weeks then tell them they better groom 8 dogs a day right away...

  • i already was a groomer when i started there and i could not wait to get out after i started... in the year i was there only 3 groomers were left and everyone was new we had 9 groomer and 3 bathers so the tern over was nuts

  • wtf happend to da dog

  • Stupid.

  • I also am a groomer for Petsmart and even I can say this is AWFUL, i worked with a women like this where she would just hack away at the dogs. It was awful, she would actually cut dogs, not tell the owner and then have the owners inform us when they notice. There should not be people like that grooming. We care about the dogs health and well being before ANYTHING else. Sometimes it is the owners fault for the matting, but many cases its not.

  • Sorry for your experience. Keep up on brushing ;) Take care!

  • As a groomer who genuinely cares about dogs & grooming sometimes I browse to find ways to improve my grooms & get tips on youtube.. I can't help but question videos like this. Maybe it was the groomers fault. Who knows. He looks like it got shaved nearly all over? Was he matted? And the head looked thinned out.. was your dog in stellar shape upon arrival? I don't know any groomers that WANT to do a cut like this. Were there severe 'boogies' in that area? Hopefully this doesnt happen again.

  • This is disgraceful. I have 3 Lhasa's and keep them in full coat so i do all my grooming myself at home. I presume the groomer responsible was sacked on the spot????? this is cruelty. Hope the little fella gets better soon and isn't too traumatised by this x

  • Looks like this groomer should be working in a butcher shop. Thanks for the vid. I'll be cancelling my dog's appt at Petsmart tomorrow until I can interview a groomer and make sure this doesn't happen to him. Pathetic. I hope your dog is better by now, although I'm sure traumatized by the experience. I would sue.

  • He'll live and be back to normal in a week or two. Get over it.

  • @MismatchedMongrel u know i care for a pomeranian and u know wat i care very much for him to pet owners its a very big deal if ur dog gets butchered at a pet store its just not right its not easy to get over it freak

  • @rocky3456ify Wow you are horrible at typing. I have a yorkie, a cocker spaniel and a long haired jack russel mix, and they have had their shares of bad hair cuts. I've also had several lhasa apso's in the past. They'll survive if they get a bad hair cut. Stfu :3

  • I'm a dog groomer and even if I would've shaved the dogs muzzle with a 40 blade, it wouldn't have ended up looking like that! Poor thing, obviously the groomer was inexperienced

  • This is why i am learning on how to groom my own dogs i am afraid of this happening, which there is NO reason that it should and blaming the owner for incompatent staff the poor dog sufffers and now will be very untrusting to getting groomed. So would any one if that happen to you at say a hairdresser. Shame on the bad and rude people pointing fingers.(prob groomers)

  • i dont see the problem other than a face that wasn't cut all that well. looks like tear stains to me, not any injury. My guess is the dog was probably horrible for having it's face handled and therefore the groomer couldn't do a nice job. Yeah, its face didn't get cut in a cute manor, but that's what happens when you try to groom a dog that doesn't cooperate. But who knows. I highly doubt that's a mistake. Corporations have better quality control than that. also, it's just hair. it grows back.

  • As a groomer, I will say, that is not even cool on the groomer's part. They should have used a 10 blade, that would have sufficed. But in all fairness, most dog owners don't take full proper care of their dogs. People forget that dogs are like infant children, they can't really do anything for themselves.

  • i feel bad for this dog. honestly, i'm a dog groomer and i've made lots of mistakes. but in learning a new skill...everyone does. and if a 10 blade can't get it out...you don't use anything lower. my trainer taught me that in school. anything as a tighter cut than a 10 goes to a vet. so sorry about your friend's dog. but don't ignore that not ALL groomers are cold and uncaring. Some of us LOVE our jobs and the dogs in our care!!!

  • I am actually a dog groomer and there is no excuse for what they have done to this dog.Even if dog was matted the face should be done with 10 blade or scissors and this looks like blade was to short or to hot and it burned the skin.Poor dog...I know people don't brush their dogs regularly but if you have chosen to be a groomer your priority should always be the dog and in this case it wasn't.

  • Groomers fault 100%. I am a dog groomer and I am ashamed that other dog groomers are blaming the owner! These groomers are obviously poorly trained and severely uneducated in the art of dog grooming just like the one who groomed this dog. There are no excuses for this!

  • if i may ask... what petsmart was this at. the same thing happened to my dog but a lot worse. he got a few cuts. i am disappointed. :(

  • OH SHUT UP... YOUR DOG PROBABLY MATTED AND PROBABLY A LITTLE JERKY WHEN IT THE CLIPPERS HAD TO BE TAKEN TO HIS FACE... WHAT A BAD OWNER YOU MUST BE LETTING HIS FACE GET THAT MATTED TO THE POINT WHERE A BLADE HAD TO BE USED ON THE FACE...SHAME SHAME LADY.

  • @AlissiaSaid Wow, no need to shout, just breath and relax. (Turn off your caps lock)

  • but it's really not cool to bash petsmart for ONE persons screw up. it DOES happen. working with dogs is NOT always easy, especially if they don't like it. I have seen much worse. eve the smallest dogs you can not completely control. and i wouldn't call that a butcher job by any means. it's one little spot, granted it's kinda bad, its one spot. but like i said blame the direct source of the problem not the company as a whole. sorry for your little jackson tho.

  • if the dog despises having his face touched maybe he jerked. not in any way saying this is acceptable or that the owner doesnt take good care of her dog. i am sure she does. but i work at petsmart and sometimes dog and groomer move at the same time but in the wrong directions. even with a 20 blade if the clipper was at the wrong angle it could have cut deep in the hair like that and caused clipper burn. just an idea.

  • Eye boogers or not, mats or not, this is obviously done with a 40 blade. I am a dog groomer as well and that is pathetic. I agree, most owners do not take care of their pets properly at all, but still, go back to grooming school, a 10 blade at most would have done the trick.

  • @madisonraunch34

Thank you madisonraunch34, I appreciate your honesty and candor, you are one of the very few dog groomeers, that would admit, they may have made a mistake....that alone, tells me, that you are a very good dog groomer, and it is not only a job to you, that you actually, love what you are doing, and love your dogs !!!!! Thanks :)

  • @madisonraunch34 I am a groomer at petsmart ...and I can say I agree. It does look like a 40 was used to scoop the eyes, they may have accidentally put the wrong blade on. Its always a possibility, everyone is human and makes mistakes, petsmart, private salon etc. It could happen anywhere. There are groomers out there who are in it for the money and others that are in it for the love of dogs.

  • being a dog groomer myself it looks like the pup had a blade shorter than a 10 on the face and possably a hot blade at that and if a blade is hot it burns and the dog can pull back and take off hair the groomer did not intend to take off. the groomer should have used thinning shears and only waited till the dog was holding still to carefully remove hair from the eyes. This was not a owners fault this was the groomers even with mats there should not be burns like these get your money back.

  • Just so you all know my mother wipes Jackson's eye boogies every day with a warm cloth, he despises having his face touched in any way. We did our best to keep him totally clean but he has a facial defect that left him with a droopy eye and it is always weeping! We are not neglectful owners. The groomer we used was our regular groomer and damn well knew of his facial issues and never had a problem with clipping him before.

  • You are stupid! You are JUST LIKE the owners that come in and say they take care of their dogs but YOU DONT. And when we try to educate you so it does not happen in the future you do not listen and dont believe us. You think we make this shit up? Im a groomer at Petsmart and we are not neglectful. And yes we are groomess but i can promise you that ninety percent of us are owners too. We just take care of our animals.

  • @ooenrique11oo

I am so sorry that you have such little feeling for the dogs you groom, and from your abusive comments, you choose to leave, I can see why :(

  • @ooenrique11oo Wow you give Petsmart groomers a bad name.

  • @ooenrique11oo I also agree with this, but you have to admit throughout the u.s there are groomers who have blonde moments or who are new as groomers that make mistakes. And yes there are owners out there who really do let their dogs faces goob/matt up...and it really can cause irritation. It doesnt help after the groom with the dogs scratch their face up from the irritation.

  • @ooenrique11oo ohhhhh are all workers at petsmart this rude ??

  • @ooenrique11oo What a marvellous advertisement you are for Petsmart.

  • I am very disappointed to see all the negative responses towards this issue, including, blaming the owner, and saying that groomers are not paid enough money ?? I posted this for a friend's dog, and I can assure you, she takes great care of her dog !!! Owners rely on a professional groomer to groom their dog without butchering them...Is that not what they are paid to do ?? I am certain the negative comments are from neglectful groomers, NOT owners !!

  • This is caused from you neglecting your dog and not cleaning the eye boogars as much as needed. This is not petsmart fault, it is yours. I'm sure they explained this might happen too but you people never listen to us.

  • One thing you dont understand is that if you don't clean the eye boogies severe matting can form. Think of tiny dread locks, now those dreads are holding in moisture causing skin break down! Not only is it very painful for the pet, but can cause that! Now think ... imagine you having a huge not like a dread lock in your hair so tight it is right to the skin and actually pulling on your scalp? I guarantee! That that spot on your head would look like that.

  • @0815ank I thought groomers are suppose to bath and brush dog before they clip it so it dosn't matter about the eye boogies because a good groomer bathes and brushes first.

  • @bwghostlt Not always depending on how much length is being taken off. I guess it depends on the groomer. I always do a prep cut before a bath. Cuts back on drying time. Dogs are already stressed about being groomed so I try to do what ever is going to be easiest for the dog. A matted dog needs to have those matts shaved out before the bath since any type of knot or matts will actually get tighter after the bath.

  • the last comment should be under my name sorry my neice was still signed in

  • this happens when you dont clean your dogs eye boogers away DAILY. The eye boogers build up and cause matting and SEVERE irritation therefore once they are removed the skin is very red and can bleed. Please don't automatically blame a groomer without asking how did this happen. This doesn't happen only Petsmart.

  • What do you expect from people who are probably underpaid.

  • Maybe your dog was being a retard and kept moving and jerking... they are just groomers, normal human beings, not miracle workers... oh and that's probably your fault, I bet your poor dog was matted cause YOU dont brush him out

  • No one's pet should ever have this happen to them!

  • @YamanekoT

Thank you very much for your caring response. :)

  • @YamanekoT Very true, but there are owners out there who should take better care of their pet, brushing the dog before bad matts start. For the poster of the video, please do not think this is directed toward you. Im just sayin people in general. Cause Ive seen horrible matted messes come in...to where the dog is crying cause the matts are so tight....sores under the matts...its sooo irritating how some people can let their dogs get like that.

  • Very sad :(..... Thery should pay for this !!!!
