This was my fav song off this album..still love these boys, been with them since they started, from 15 year old boys to grown men , and they still ROCK LOUD!!!!
Silverchair means a lot to me. I've listened to them during the hard times and the good times for about 11 years now. They have a very unique sound, it's hypnotizing, and if you're not in the right frame of mind, it can make you do some twisted shit.
silverchair never ripped anybody off they just used their influences just like any other band in history......plus silverchair is better than nirvana and all those other bands END OF STORY!!!!!!!!
silverchair ripped off pretty much every artist that came before them, the Beatles, Nirvana etc but I like that they did it tastefully and added their own sound
you think silverchair invented the indian-sounding psychedelic song style? listen to Within Without You, Norwegian Wood, Tomorrow Never Knows by the Beatles.
And also, if you didnt realise Daniel's 'Petrol and Chlorine' is supposed to have the indian/middle eastern effect - petrol, duh. Silverchair never invented anything. They are simply a rock band who are influenced in current world affairs, death, mental illness and more.
Where did I say or imply that? Daniel is married to music. The guy has always explored new things witihin music. Van Dyke Parkes and the Indian Sitar are just a few of the influences he has incorporated into his music. You must also remember that the 1960s (Beatles era) was based around drug culture which was heavily influenced by the mysteries of Asia - the religions, the attire, landscapes, drugs, peace ad way of life. Of course you relate the Indian music with them!
I'm saying petrol and chlorine has a clear beatles influence due to the psychedelic element in it, I don't see what's so debatable about that. It even has a little string arrangement, a very paul maccartney thing to do.
hey nerd, did the beatles invent the sitar? Just because silverchair used the same instrument as another band doesn't mean they ripped them off. Did the beatles rip off ravi shankar??? You need to take it easy, homes. There is absolutely no validity to your argument
yeah the beatles ripped off ravi shankar, of course. The whole history of music is made of artists ripping off what came before them and creating their own sound with it. I don't see why everyone gets so excited about it. I love silverchair.
what the fuck man, the sitar is the fuckin' awesomest instrument ever... you can't say the beatles "own" it... if you don't like what they do, fuck off
if you think my comment means the beatles 'own' it then you're mentally retarded and need to go back to 1st grade to learn how to read. Then maybe you can read my comment (if it's not too complicated for you) and think again.
I can see why they couldn't do this on the Freak Show tour, but it's a shame they didn't do this more with Sam on the Neon Ballroom tour (they did it once, in Brisbane).
I remember listening to this song during my depression. I just related to it. It's an awesome song.

The Beatles? Yeah maybe they had a grunge nature like Nirvana, but The Beatles? You have got to be kidding me...

And I wouldn't call it ripping off. Music was free back then. They were the ones who set the standards. I would call it influenced and nothing more.

crazy thought: maybe indians invented the indian sounding psychedelic style
