Hi, on some fill valves you can push and turn the cap to remove it. I would try pushing down on the cap and giving it a twist clockwise to tighten it. As long as the valve turns off when the tank is full and the water isn't shooting out of the top it shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for an awesome video...I just replaced my fill valve and did everything properly. I am however having the occasional water come out of the cap of the fill valve. I don't know how exactly to fix this. What do you suggest?
o..god thank you my landlord calmed nothing was wrong with my toilet...but every 7-12 days i will wake up..or come home to water all in the hall and ..I cant count how much cash iv spent at the laundry mat..so i will try this .
I just replaced the fill valve on my toilet using the same exact valve you used and it still won’t fill with water. I know I followed the directions properly, which is why I’m completely puzzled. What could be causing this problem?
@Beale64 Hi, are you sure you water is flowing through the supply line to the fill valve? Turn off the shut off valve to the toilet and unscrew the top of the supply line that connects to the fill valve. Then take a bucket and turn on the shut off valve, aiming into the bucket to see if there is water flow. This would be the first step. Let me know what happens. You may need a new shut off valve or supply line.
@hardwarehelper I just replaced the supply line and now the tank is filling up again. Thanks for your assistance, hardwarehelper. You are very insightful! :-)
One thing I noticed is that you talk about using an adjustable wrench on the line that goes into the tank . I've always understood that you are not supposed to do this. It even is printed on the plastic nut "Hand tighten ONLY". What are your thoughts on this?
thank you for the video, thought this was going to be hard and pricey and it was neither. Your video made everything easy. I just didn't tell my wife that i watched a video on it, so she still thinks I'm a GENIUS. So, I felt compelled to thank you and give you props

@flexor212000 I like to hand tighten and then put a quarter turn or so with a wrench. It will make a better seal with the washer.

it doesnt seem to matter if im missing the rubber tube from the ballcock to the 'center pipe'; does it? thanks for the awesome vids!
sticksbass 1 year ago
Hi, the tube going to the overflow pipe is what fills the bowl. It will still flush and work, but most people like more water in the bowl.
