i hate both cities, but IMHO portland is nicer. It's prettier, greener, more down to earth people (than LA's that is), and just easier on the eyes. But LA has a cooler culture, more to do and see, better climate (but i still prefer 4 seasons), and awesome beaches (and all the way down to SD). Just my opinion.

As a longtime California resident, and onetime Portland resident, I take offense at this. Don't let LA people color your view for a whole state. Whenever I travel and mention I'm from California, people tend to get a preconcieved notion of who I am (good or bad.) Just judge people by how they are on a personal level, and we'll all be okay.

YAY for Portland! I'm from the Canadian Prairies and have visited twice in the last year and really dig it! The suburban sprawl and Starbucks every 10 meters is more then I care for but thats besides the point! All the wonderful parks ad greenspaces definately make up for it! Not to mention all the cool, different and yes of course weird happenings around town.

I grew up in Troutdale in the 80's. Did a lot of good drugs and just really enjoyed my youth. I ended up in OSP for a while. No regrets at all. Beautiful city.

I grew up in Gresham just outside of Portland. I remember when the MAX was first built and I was able to skip school and get all the way downtown, then I could take my skateboard in the rain on the streets and scare the hell out of the cars, they had no idea what to do ( this was long before skateboards were cool, only rejects road skateboards ). The year I left Portland they built the skate park under the Burnside Bridge, I was so mad, but now I'm back, a new born Filmmaker. Cheers stump town

That's my plan too; need to get out of Ohio. Toledo to be exact. What part of Ohio you from ? Toledo job market is crap. Too close to Detroit. People like Columbus, but Portland seems like it has so much more to offer than Ohio. I think I would like the mild summers (without the humidity) and the relatively mild winters (without brutal cold & snow).  I see they got a new show on Discovery Channel or something. The Ax-Men or something; about loggers from Oregon. --Cool show.

I like your video. The YouTube community could use more people like you. I live in Toledo, Ohio. Cold winters....hot muggy summers. Again....hot muggy summers. Think I would really like Portland. I may come out for a visit this summer. Seems like the cost of living is a bit high there. Why is this ? Also, why aren't there more major cities, right along the ocean ? Is it because of topography or will this eventually happen.....over time ?
