i hate both cities, but IMHO portland is nicer. It's prettier, greener, more down to earth people (than LA's that is), and just easier on the eyes. But LA has a cooler culture, more to do and see, better climate (but i still prefer 4 seasons), and awesome beaches (and all the way down to SD). Just my opinion.
Nice video! Great to see Sean Croghans name connected with this video! I moved to Portland from Charleston, WV. in 95' and spent ten excellent years in the city. I'm back east again, however I'm moving back to Portland in 2009.
As a longtime California resident, and onetime Portland resident, I take offense at this. Don't let LA people color your view for a whole state. Whenever I travel and mention I'm from California, people tend to get a preconcieved notion of who I am (good or bad.) Just judge people by how they are on a personal level, and we'll all be okay.
u r an idiot if u got rid of all the cali natives in ore they would be no good looking peeps left ask around 20pct are oregonians or less socal native ore transplant and luvin it
You are calling me an idiot when you don't even bother using proper grammar? What you wrote doesn't even make sense. YOU are the idiot. Where did you get your statistics anyway?...your ass? =)

YAY for Portland! I'm from the Canadian Prairies and have visited twice in the last year and really dig it! The suburban sprawl and Starbucks every 10 meters is more then I care for but thats besides the point! All the wonderful parks ad greenspaces definately make up for it! Not to mention all the cool, different and yes of course weird happenings around town.
I grew up in Troutdale in the 80's. Did a lot of good drugs and just really enjoyed my youth. I ended up in OSP for a while. No regrets at all. Beautiful city.
I agree, keep Portland weird, but I have no problem with people moving in. It takes a certain kind of person to want to live in Portland, and if they've made that choice then they were probably weird enough in the first place.
I grew up in Gresham just outside of Portland. I remember when the MAX was first built and I was able to skip school and get all the way downtown, then I could take my skateboard in the rain on the streets and scare the hell out of the cars, they had no idea what to do ( this was long before skateboards were cool, only rejects road skateboards ). The year I left Portland they built the skate park under the Burnside Bridge, I was so mad, but now I'm back, a new born Filmmaker. Cheers stump town
Hah hah... I can't wait to move to portland with my friends! ^_^ Montana is bringing me down... somehow, I got stuck in the most conservative county in all of montana. Thanks for the video!
I used to walk around alone when I lived in Portland. Now that I haven't even been there for over a decade, I really miss it. Enjoy what you have where you are if you're in PDX!
im from dubai used to study in portland state university ..very nice place to live in .fuckin cheap place and no tax... thx for the vidoe..plz put the clubs in portland i missed them ;p
That's my plan too; need to get out of Ohio. Toledo to be exact. What part of Ohio you from ? Toledo job market is crap. Too close to Detroit. People like Columbus, but Portland seems like it has so much more to offer than Ohio. I think I would like the mild summers (without the humidity) and the relatively mild winters (without brutal cold & snow). I see they got a new show on Discovery Channel or something. The Ax-Men or something; about loggers from Oregon. --Cool show.
this guy is making it look run down but really it's like a small NYC. People around there call it the smallest big city on earth. Well not everybody. The kids call it P-town.
Don't lose the RED HAT. That's like your signature trademark. Larry King has suspenders, Don Imus has a cowboy hat, Trump has a comb-over, Roy Orbison had the dark glasses, George Burns has the cigar, Attorney Gerry Spence has the Indian jacket, Bono has his trademark glasses. You've got the red hat. Cool...
I like your video. The YouTube community could use more people like you. I live in Toledo, Ohio. Cold winters....hot muggy summers. Again....hot muggy summers. Think I would really like Portland. I may come out for a visit this summer. Seems like the cost of living is a bit high there. Why is this ? Also, why aren't there more major cities, right along the ocean ? Is it because of topography or will this eventually happen.....over time ?
If it weren't for the job market in Portland, I'd be there. :\

the potential to overcome animosity

to overcome greed and gluttonny
a pirate's life of sailing around town from bar to bar isn't full of a single sentiment worth preaching to the choir. We all know our follies.
what does it take to be concerned with one another for the sake of goodwill?

Portland is great. All of the californians moving in suck though! They are raising the housing prices and most are rude snobs from LA.

Go back to Cali and quite taking over our city.
I love it here, but not if all you damn transplants keep moving here. Portland is small. We don't need any more condos. Don't change our city.
Keep portland weird.
