Wow, the arrogance on this comment thread is palpable. Saying that one form of dance is an insult to another form. I don't go on Argentinian Tango videos and say how it's just not as good as International Tango.
Years and years wondering why all those Casio keyboards had a "tango" rhythm that did not even remotely sound like the tango that I know. Of course, it was "American Tango"!
Even though I don't like it, I think that you guys are good dancers. I'm too biased on this issues. Greetings from Argentina!
Forms of dance do change when they "traval" over the world. It will gradually reflect the culture and the character of local people.Argentine tango facsinated me, but I don't think I will look down on other forms of tango. In fact in Taiwan, where I was born and live right now, we have Taiwan Tango, too. I did learn it in my ballroom class:D Maybe one term "Tango" is just not enough for dancers all over the world ;) Dancing is a beatiful thing, and hating each other won't make it better XD
Everyone has their own styles of dance, and nobody will claim that American and Argentine tangos are the same. They each have their own place, and this looks wonderful in its context.
the thing is that it shouldn´t be called TANGO, becouse TANGO is the Argentinian one... No problem with the moves or what ever, but it shouldn´t be called tango, that´s all, it could be "exaggerated figures" or else...
and im sorry to say it, but your teacher and the other "tango" dancer , well they look like ballet dancers and pretty much gay for tango I think, do not take it bad, its just an opinion.
This is way to elegant , for you to understand..... this tango is more ballroom , for the shows and events like this, and argentinian tango is for just you and your love. You are just way to stupid.
vanessa you dance pretty well, but not tango, you should learn with someone who really know tango, im sure you have great performers, ask robert duval... :P anyways, love your atitude but you must find your way to the best, do not just keep on the basics, there´s a lot of tango styles you may want to learn and im sure will blow your mind.
it ain´t tango my friends... im from argentina and we never seen something like that, maybe some of those figures but just to cold, North American people in general, think in tango like a torero from spain...
Vanessa, great routine. The latins are very opinionated about Tango and some believe it is the only dance in the world. But of course there are many expressions of dance from every culture. Keep up the great work.
I note that the two negative comments come from Latin counries. Some Latinos are very snotty about teh tango, they think only latinos can dance it. Rubbish, of course. Nicely done.
Well. I can't say, for me it is a nice dance. But the word "Tango" shouldn't be anywhere on the name of such a dance. And I'm sure that's what iaio88 means when says "horrible", or anyone who may desagree, because it has nothing to do with tango.
Thank you very much,I'm very flattered that you enjoyed the video. My name's Vanessa and I've been dancing pro-am with my teacher Chris for about a year and a half.

I Like the comments from the Argentine Tango crowd.. Reminds me of why I left that dance alone. Elitist mentality.

This may be a nice dance, but it is not tango at all. It should not be called like that.

I think that's a nice dance. However to name it "Tango" (American or any other) is an insult to Tango.
