  • WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT @ 1:20?

  • i want prosthetic arms and legs made of EAPs i will become super hero

  • That arm is made with NITINOL or ELECTROACTIVE POLYMER.

  • @AZURA888 nitinol and EAP are very different things. nitinol primarily stretched and shrinks, while EAP bends in response to an electric field. What they dont tell you in these videos is that this technology is very energy inefficient. To date, its also very slow as it relies on being heated and sinking that heat to be moved. I don't see it replacing standard motors and servos in anything but the tiniest of applications.

  • I can't wait for the robots to say "BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS"

  • no point in this since EAPs are taking over.

  • @venian646 what do you mean when you say EAP?

  • @bighairybear101 electroactive polymer its a substance that expands and contracts when you pass certain amount of electricity to it.

  • @bighairybear101 Electroactive Polymer

  • Replace all my muscles with them now, please! Endless beer, for endless fighting! Gimme go-go power ...LOL

  • Whisky for me and vodka for my toaster please

  • @jezus22 And Beer for my horsepower

  • btw, the girl cheated in the second "arm wrestling" match.

  • Shape memory alloys are actually pretty cheap (nitinol based and other heat based SMA). Magnetic SMA are very expensive, but these aren't FSMA/MSMA. The reason SMA haven't been used much is that the response time is very slow, as it takes time for the wire to cool down and return to the martensite phase.

  • robot olipics all hail robonia the land i didnt make up lol wooooooohooo

  • futurama worked this out ages ago

  • in future we will be robotic alcoholics

  • This is not good, soon these super strong muscles will be put into robots who will STEAL OUR JOBS!!!!

  • @wappahawlic Dey took our jobss

  • @wappahawlic Not soon.

Probably take a while for them to become cost-effective.

  • cant wait to go take a beer with bender!

  • 1:20 loooool

    the robot was like

    woowowow am I retard ?

  • matt groening must know the future

  • "Why would a robot need to drink?"

"I don't NEED to drink, I can quit anytime I want!"

  • terminators killing for booze instead of world domination, great, it just gets better and better.

  • Futurama tells the future :P

  • damn, maybe in the future I can get them robot muscles and get fucked up to powa them UP!

  • thats why Bender drinks

  • That was exactly what I was thinking. The futurama folks know what they were talking about!

  • alcohol and air lol

  • to look cool obviously

  • ...ok so now we just gotta find out why Bender smokes...

  • @SamIves85

    because it's sexy!

  • @SamIves85 Because who doesnt love a good cigar

  • if this working the robots gonna be like in the movie: IRobot .and the humans gonna be like in Crysis.....

    nano-suite next!

  • @adam1611 nanosuit ftw!

  • Be careful from drunk robots lol

  • It's how bender on futurama works

  • LOL! muscles povered my a fuel..

    alcohol..

  • this explains why bender needs alcohol to function

  • I thought exactly the same thing! XD

  • at first i was thinking it was like terminator

then i heard it was powered by alcohol then i thought it would be like bender

  • ahahaah :-D

  • NOOOOOO dont give robots more power thhen the human race

we will all be killed lol

  • drinking alcohol so that I could work the next day......is this a paradise, or what?

  • Yeah ;D

  • That robot face sort of looked like boy George.

  • good idea, but as a consequence of using fluid with shape memory materials aren't those 'muscles' relatively slow?

  • Liquid cooling for memory muscle mean they'd be much faster. The slow part of the cycle is the cooling. Just use an electrically nonconducting fluid.

  • yeah it seemed to me that as to make the muscle stretch back out the alcohol would have to evaporate? huh? yeah this seems like a slow and bad replacement for robot muscles

  • damn scientist you just love to make it damn easy for Skynet to take over dont you!!!

  • the new nanotube muscles are WAY better!!

    this is obsolete in comparison!

  • bender!!!

  • ahaha i was thinking the same :D

    would be cool though!

  • lol

  • smoking is just to make him look cool =D

  • the videos of this guy sucks""!

  • That's exactly what we need, super-strong drunk amputees!

  • only got one thing to say:

OHHH SHIT!! WERE FRIGGIN DOOOOOMED!! *_*

  • thats an intresting concept. will nanotechnology beable to duplicate muscle functions for robots?

  • I"m gonna spoil some dreams here:

Bender operates on alcohol because he burns it just like any internal combustion engine, especially those seen on dragster cars, alcohol generates a lot of heat, and it's basically an endless supply because it could be mass produced.

These muscles however use a chemical reaction in order for them to contract under special electrochemical conditions.

But there is a slight similarity based on the fact that both these machines use alcohol for their operation!

  • I don´t think this 100 times stronger comparison is true. Maybe as a bulk, but not as this spring thing needed obviously for large contractions. But nice technique either way.

  • Omg! Its just like Futurama lol :P

  • i can see millions of benders running around.

  • could it jack me off?

    is the question

  • i wonder if i could use one of them to masterbate

  • wanker

  • LOL! get it?

  • YE! BENDERS COMING!

  • LMAO

dude this is just like super weird

  • yeah its like just really weird dude LOL

    alcohol for breakfast

  • Yes, but it won't grow back entirely, now will it? Or more than a few fractions of an inch, for that matter.

  • Humans regenerate, we don't need robotic appendages.

  • I'd like to see you regenerate an arm.

  • no it's true your bone when it gets cut off actually starts to grow back out again that's why when you lose an arm you have to go every certain amount of time to get it recut.

  • Cool, maybe next we'll have tubes for people to travel from home to work in.

  • so ... i wasnt just crazy ... bender is a reality ... soon ... very soon .. futurama will be reality to .. we will have one eyed sexy fighter chicks going about with lobster like creatures in working our research and people surving with only heads ... naa scrap the last part...

  • BENDER WAS RIGHT

  • My good, they feed off alcohol?? Its bender in the making!!

  • Lol, I thought the same thing! Maybe this is where the Futurama folks got the idea. They sure were ahead of the curb if so.

  • omg thinking the same thing that is insane, futurama is the future :D

  • wow, so you get robots 100 times stronger than humans!! Hope they don't take over the world :P

  • lol i was just thinking that

  • This is really interesting, seeing how they develop artificial muscles in different ways.. I want to see more!

  • The shot of the robot face - looked like it had had a bit too much alcohol

  • Does the wire have to be completely dry to relax?

  • Finally, the beer drinking alcoholic, whore-mongering, chain-smoking gambler robot, BENDER may be possible! I can't wait.

  • @Internatube go bender, go bender!

  • wow...
