  • I loved this guy in The Matrix......

  • @HADESCAVE concordantly, vis a vis

  • @RaynardES That was quicker than the others...haha!

  • I have adhd.. and i've already lost focus on this guy, he's so boring lol

  • Now I know why I have anger issues (if you really piss me off of course.. I actually DO have a high tolerance and I do have quiet a lot of patience so the anger issues aren't a BIG problem but.. yeah..)

  • Please sign this petition for ADD students rights: on thepetitionsite. Go to care2 website and type adhd in the search box. Click on second link (Schools, Adopt ADHD Training..) , THANK YOU

  • Is this available as a whole vid?

  • Dr Barkley is nothing less than the world thought leader on the full understanding of the brain and biology of ADHD, and the complexity of the functional, emotional diagnosis - vs diagnosis by appearances. Thanks Dr Barkley for being so emphatically clear on this issue of emotional regulation - I have been with Dr Barkley for years and use these observations every day in office practice with excellent outcomes.

  • i have severe ADHD myself, and to any fucker that dares to say what i have and what i was born with isnt real - tell me this. to FULLY understand adhd, you either have to have it or be FULLY trained to deal with it. these people discrediting this man and the condition in general, do you come under either of those banners? i severely doubt even one of you do. saying it isn't real is a disrespectful, idiotic and medieval thing to say, learn what you're on about before you throw judgment around.

  • ALL TRUE. And true genius. Ignore this information at your, your children's, your families peril. I've had the SPECT scans, I've read the books, but if you don't approach this as an Executive Function Deficit Disorder, a lifetime biological condition.

  • This guy is a million times better that Dr. Phil.

  • Wow, finally I found someone who perfectly understands what ADHD is all about. thank you for your research Doctor.

  • Barkley is a genius. I wish I could hear him live. Anyone know if he is coming to the Toronto area?

  • This is the one thing I've found that I do not relate with at all. I do have moments where I snap on people without really thinking about it, but they are rare. I usually repress my emotions all of the time. I also keep to myself a lot of the time. I have extreme social anxiety and a fear of what will happen when talking to people, so I keep quiet a majority of the time regardless of all of my thoughts, such as input into a conversation or a question on something I don't understand.

  • @YoBezPoppin

Same here. In fact, I often wish I restrained my emotions less, it seems like I almost never act out.

  • If having a VERY bad working memory, impulsiveness and inability to moderate your own emotion is detrimental to your life then it is a disability.

Adhd does not block or inhibit your intelligence; if the person did not have Adhd their intelligence would be just the same as would their creativity. The difference is the person’s inability to organise and focus to achieve what they should be doing to reach their goals in life.

  • @funservercc to a point. horrible memory can make you feel like a complete idiot. and it makes everyone around you think you are an idiot, if they can't grasp the 2011 concept of adhd instead of 1980... DX omg makes me wanna shoot my eyes out. or just kill the bastards at work who keep saying you don't know how to do anything..... arg.. lol

  • You guys should stop writing when you are drunk :P

  • @lenore123456789 people with adhd are so much more comelled towards drugs. im drunk right know adn waiting for a psych doctor

  • ADHD is not a disorder.. its the consequence of making different minded people into a conventional system of life and expecting the same output as conventional minds... also brain imaging, neuro chemistry based hypothesis can never be considered as the way in which people think.. hypothesis are good as never made.. because to know what ADHD is you have to be some one with ADHD like Einstein, Thomas Edison etc... well its time for acceptance that some are dont have that mind.. Ex : Barkley.

  • @charitha42 Scientists use neuro chemistry and brain imaging to prove points, if it was still just a hypothesis then ADHD would still be questioned as whether or not it was a disorder, but today it is accepted as a disorder, and i dont think i have to list sources to say that neruo chemistry and brain imaging have helped. and why does someone need to be Einstein to know what ADHD is like? this man is doing so much for those who have this disorder.

  • @BrewedalTea Oh dear Brother nothing to get so angry about.. if you have so much respect for this person that overwhelmed you basic rational mode of though,, It is I that is feeling sorry for you.. Lets look at science .. no one has ever proven the brain to be the origin of all thoughts.. brain imaging can never read the thoughts of a person.Do you think everything we have as conventions.. like law, medical ethics, education system are perfect ?can u prove that conventional education is perfect?

  • And for your information.. ADHD is still under question whether its a disorder or not... The facts that this person so confidently presents.. like " Limbic system is the Emotional brain" and about Anterior cingulate regulate emotions are non but theories which no one knows for sure if correct or not... well its possible that the brain operation of ADHD are different.. but still brain imagery can never be used as absolute evidence to map out all the emotions of a person,, its not brain alone..

  • @charitha42 disorder or not, yes. real or not, no... it is very real.

  • @charitha42 and a disorder is when "a thing" behaves differently from the conventional. for example bipolar is a disorder in which a person goes through a state of moods where he becomes manic for a lapse of time and then becomes depressed for a lapse of time, its very unconventional as it does not have the same output of a "conventional mind" so it is a disorder. With ADHD which is failure to pay attention, hyperactivity. and impulsiveness. all of which are unconventional, which is a disorder

  • @charitha42 and i honestly do feel sorry for you. for someone who tries to cognate these bullshit, condescending pseudo intricate sentences to try to discredit someone who is a respected member of the community is laughable. And if you genuinely have an argument or any sort of hypothesis to prove Barkley's theories, and years of research wrong, then i would love to see it. As a person with ADHD myself, i would say after watching his presentation that his description is very accurate

  • @charitha42 of what people go through. ADHD has nothing to deal with creativity. nor does the process of education. If you watched his entire presentation and understood what he was trying to say you wouldn't have anything to disagree with him. "it is the inability of the anterior singulate to govern that limbic system, so that once emotions once provoked get expressed without that top down management that other people would be doing, using the frontal lobe to reach in, take hold, and fine

  • What nonsense everyone is speaking. This professor is at he very forefront of his field and I thank God for his ground breaking research and help in bringing such a dreadful condtion into mainstream medicine.

  • So I guess there is no hope, I mean speak the truth, but he makes it impossible !

  • Adhd people are not more inteligent, or creative. the intieligence is becuase that perticular person is Intelitent/creative , more so than average if he/she is able to cope with Adhd and still be productive. If this person did not have Adhd they would stil be as inteligent and creative but have a better memory, more focus and les impulsiveness.

  • @funservercc

Do you have a language disorder?

  • @funservercc

Do you have a language disorder?

    This sounds confused

  • @funservercc .. well I m sorry but I was arguing on the basis of the very nature of ADHD.. why do adhd people day dream.. why are they impulsive ? why do they not tolerate direct knowledge input? its not about coping up with stupidity.. but creating ones own reality by ones own imagination.. when this natural intelligence is blocked they react in other ways.. Education ruins the behavioral needs of creative minds.. adhd is not a disorder,, it s the characteristic of different creative minds..

  • Adhd people are not more inteligent, or creative. the intieligence is becuase that perticular person is Intelitent/creative , more so than average if he/she is able to cope with Adhd and still be productive.

  • A brain imaging can never show what a person thinks... what a person feels... also what is true and what is accurate? dont u know that all is relative? we are but encaptured in a world confined by our very senses... we do not see beyond... also if u want enlightenment try using the bulb invented by Thomas Edison... hehe...study his mind he s an ADHD prototype.... I would not like to comment on ppl who make their sight knowledge and think that they see above all... haha

  • @charitha42

You seem to have absolutely no sense for , and understanding of science my dear.

  • The way this guy speaks... I was half thinking.... this guy's got ADHD...haha.... Big words... Big Actions... pretends to be confident... but knows nothing.... You got to have ADHD to know what its like... He s describing the way the microbes smile.... Typical of scientific community... to be absolutely confident of what they not know at all.... To be framed and not to see the world beyond should be very boring.... this guy sees nothing beyond what he s learnt..knowledge is a frame that blinds.

  • @charitha42 and you are???

  • @rcsciontc24

I am a guy with so called ADHD who knows my mind... I have the right to oppose whoever is paid by the drug companies to make a story... if u want check out the stimulant incomes by companies... if some one is calling accept that you are disordered then its reasonable for me to say no I am not you are mistaken or insanely stupid according to my conscience... I prefer conscience over science..sorry about that....

  • @charitha42

Knowledge (as far as it is true and accurate) is a frame that enlightens, and thereby in fact frees from blindness. What does blind, is the all too easy refusal to give credence to something simply because one finds it boring and/or feels intimidated by it.

  • @Abelgabe

Knowledge cannot free from the frame... it keeps on weaving a web on which some blind ppl think they see... for the sake of denying knowledge, if u calculate me to have been intimidated.. I can apply the same logic for you for the sake of denying my idea and calculate that u are intimidated..therefor its not a question of intimidation.its a matter of truth and belief..I can even bring in jealousy to the argument but I wont..hehe... good luck bro..

  • Whether or not you think you are trying to "enlighten" us with some kind of post modern philosophy here, not only are you off topic, you're also babbling gibberish.

  • @Abelgabe Haha... I cant help your low understanding potential.... science in its basic sense is also a philosophy.. if your mind is used to being fed on what other ppl ( so called scientists) throw at you... sorry I cant help you... but face it ...ADHD ppl see a lot more,,, this is not boasting but the truth... seems someone is intimidated after all...hehe... well yea what better can u do than calling another person off topic.... should I give credence to your blindness ? ask Thom hartman

  • @Abelgabe

That's absolutely correct and supported by all the gibberish answers on this thread.

Most people who posted here actually seem to make Prof. Barkley's case.

  • @charitha42

    pretty dumb comment, you know

  • @friedmann1959 Well I should say again I m not responsible for anyones bean sized perceptive ability.... and also to regard something as dumb you should first consider yourself intelligent.. which means if I ask you what intelligence means you should be able answer it.. In that case I feel sorry for you... anyway you seem to see everything as a disorder,, so again I say I really feel sorry for you..
