GH and RB suck. It does get more non musicians interested in actually playing music but most people don't have the desire to actually practice on a real instrument or the money to buy a quality instrument. I've played GH and RB and it wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe if I never studied music or played several instruments before trying these games I might enjoy it more but it felt too fake and mechanical to me.

A year and a half later I'm playing lead in a thrash metal band, working on a demo with a few gigs lined up for spring and summer.

The game may be lame as hell, but if it gets kids away from this synthesized, autotuned garbage.. It can't be bad.

I think the line about them being a no-names comes from Tommy and Eric not being Ace and Peter, yet getting to wear their makeup and costumes onstage.
