That whole concert was a joke. My wife and I were blown away by the first song, but then they started in the the narrator and some of the worst, most overly dramatized singing I've ever sat halfway through. We were embarrassed, but we had to leave, along with about 1/10th of the rest of the audience, about halfway through. It really seemed that they were making up the songs as they went. The instrumental music was great, but the singing was worse than I could have imagined. I'll never go back.

Saw them in November in DC for the sixth time Add-ins to Christmas eve story from Christmas attic. Also Selections from Night Castle. VERRRRRY Gooood. It is not xmas without TST Concert. But seemed like music was turned down some and fewer pryotechnics. Last year they did their version of Emerson Lake and Palmer's Nutcracker with Greg Lake accompying them on guitar. Very good. Also saw their Beethovens last night concert in April. Also excellent.
This is, and since 1998 been my favorite Christmas Song. I've seen TSO eight times, and IMHO, Tommy Farese is the only one who should ever sing this song. I sob every time I hear this song, but it's a good cry. Merry Christmas all!

Just saw their 2010-2011 show today. Bigger, better, and just as powerful and moving as ever. This is always a powerful song for me. The new show rig has a couple of very, very big surprises. Bravo again, TSO, for moving me to tears and making me clap until my arms hurt. Thank you, wherever you are.
I'm both sad and up-set that the Trans Siberian Orchestra don't have my city on the list of play dates. The played here two years in a row with sold out shows. I don't seem to understand why they decided to not stop in and put on a show in my city. They are making stops in Canada, but my city is not on the list to play in. I am going to miss them.. Who ever gets a chance to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra play would be in for one heck of a good show..
Savatage is the 'original' group, TSO was a side project that has been WAY more commercially successful. Wikipedia has a nice article. In concert, TSO's first part w/ the Christmas stuff is excellent. The 2nd half is worth leaving to go eat somewhere. I was surprised how many people left after the Christmas part till I left ~roughly 1/2 through the 2nd part.
Savatage was a metal band formed in the eighties by Jon Olivia and Criss Olivia who tragically was killed by a drunk driver in 93. Maybe the greatest guitar player that no one heard about. Paul O'Niel produced thier first album I believe to be Guter Ballet in 88 or 89 maybe later than that. Then came Streets A Rock Opera. Top three of my favorite albums. I highly recomend that one. I wish they were still putting out albums but TSO is doing pretty well right now.
Hey, Gutter Ballet is a great album, but before that Savatage released:

The Dungeons Are Calling (1984)
Power of the Night (1985)
Fight for the Rock (1986)
Hall of the Mountain King (1987)
Check them out! Every one of those albums are awesome (except Fight for the Rock, don't know what the F*CK they were thinking with that one). Hall of the Mountain King is my personal favorite after Edge of Thorns (1993). Sirens contains great early stuff from the Avatar days.

I went to their concert in Calgary on Wednesday night and it was 3 hours! Fantastic musical experience. Their Christmas music lasted just under 2 hours but then they played another 80 minutes from their new CD of non Christmas music.
I'm going to see them on December 4 in Sunrise and absolutely cannot wait! Love the music and this will be the first time I have seen them live. Does anyone know how long their concerts typically last?
It's awesome! Their concerts last usually around 4 hours. The first half is a story line and the second half is just plain out jammin to songs. Theyre so professional. U won't be dissapointed! Have fun!

they are 1 group, however for the holiday season, they split the group into an east and west coast groups, so more people can enjoy the joy that they bring to people.

just saw them a couple of hrs ago.... I'd say it was the BEST ROCK concert ever.... They are beyond awesome, this was my 3rd time in a row seeing them, unbelieveable

they are 1 group, however for the holiday season, they split the group into an east and west coast groups, so more people can enjoy the joy that they bring to people.

Do they pick look-a-likes for this band to tour East & West? Hard to distinguish band memebers. Do they have a lineup as to who is playing and singing where? Kinda reminds me of the Harlem Globetrotters.

My girlfriend is coming with me, she's never been to a TSO concert either, she's really excited about it and her nephew is also going. Also my family is going too which is my mom, my brother, my brother's wife and their 2 kids. it will be me, my brother, his wife and their kids 3rd time of seeing them, my mom's 2nd time.

We seen them for the 2nd time November 1st in Council Bluffs, IA. We had 2nd row seats. We get the West Tour, this is the East Tour. I would like to see these guys someday too!!!! :)
