  • thats brilliant. loved the message. the baths are on the outside, as they were a fire risk. the landscape was heavily wooded when the fort was built, then it remained bleak from the climate changes of the mid 300's, when the garrison 'MAY' have left.

  • Was just there myself a couple of days ago, spent a few hours. Very impressed with the site. Those Romans sure were organised and built a straight beautiful walls !

    That fort would have been impenetrable to the the locals would have surely known they were up against a formidable invader for certain. Don't envy the poor Roman who had to live there though, very bleak place.

    One thing that slightly confused me was why the baths were on the outside of the complex which didn't seem very secure to me
