  • I still don't get why US market doesn't get 2.0 170hp TDI?

  • @posro1988 more then likely i does not meet emissions in places like cali

  • @WellImHereNow touareg TDI is a 3 lit unit

  • @posro1988 with tdi u get more torque cuz of the diesel.. much more important

  • @LordKevin92 please explain diesel to me we in europe have never seen one, btw torque is important but so is hp, so if NA market likes powerful engines why not give them one

  • @posro1988 first of all, diesel engine uses diesel fuel. we both know that :P Diesel engines tend to have more torque because they have a longer stroke, and some other reasons i dont remember right now. The torque is "pulling power" or the power needed to carry the car's weight, so that means: more torque = faster acceleration. Horsepower is "speed power" it determines the car's top speed. Many people wont reach 200mph in a regular car so it doesnt matter as much as torque.

  • @posro1988 and NA do get vehicles with lots of hp, its just that this particular VW has this option of diesel engine. sad thing is here in america(north and latin) we got speed limits that are pitiful. in my country the highest speed possible in the hwy is 100km/h or 60mph. so.. probably the drivers wont use the full power of their cars :/ i wish i could live in germany, a friend who lives in Stuttgart told me there is no speed limit in the autobahn :D lol

  • Thanks for the review... would love to have the "US-Passat" in Germany as well... it's bigger than the normal European Passat.... but some people claim it would be too big for roads in the city for example -.- I can't understand them .... If they can't handle a bigger car, they simply should buy a smaller one -.-

  • @Chris060889 That's really funny, because I wish they had the Euro Passat here in the US :)

  • I love this new VW Passat! The front headlights remind me of the 08-12 Honda Accord headlights.

Also I think it's cool how Volkswagen gives u the choice of push button start and also manually starting the car with an actual key. Most of these auto companies doesn't give u that option.

For example, a 2010 Nissan Altima only has the push button. Is there a way to manually start the car if it were to stop working??? Does anybody know?

  • VW Passat was most beautiful car have i ever seen.Sorry for my english.

  • It's got a nicely finished and roomy interior and very nice convenience features such as smart key access with remote engine start, electric trunk lid opening, fully automatic electric windows and dual zone climate control. It's got a good safety rating as well and the choice of a diesel, instead of an useless hybrid version. I really like it. The Passat may not be the most reliable midsize car, but sure is the nicest.

  • I want this car SO badly!!

  • Waaaaaaaaa y they need red line before u can hear sounds???

  • @saabkyle04 could you start giving the prices of new cars you review and give the KBB of used cars? That would be really nice

  • I hate when folks try to put it at around 800 miles it's 555city/740highway on one tank

  • I ordered my passat tdi sel premium back in september..and I'm still waiting! I'm trying to be patient...

  • @RDHJenn1004 i'm in the same boat... ordered a black/black tdi sel on october 15th... still no car yet.

  • yeah i dont know why this doesn't come with xenon. beautiful car. just came back from my local VW dealership.

  • I wish they would do away with the sun roof except as a special option. I don't think that many people use it.

  • got it my baby"_

  • I'm really impressed as an european how the Americans accepted to "downsize" their lifestyle importing diesel cars, thinking for e.g. at the Fiat 500 1.3 mJet... Starting think about consumption and so on... Quiet impressive... Btw was a great review... Great job! Greetings from Italy

  • Awesome Video. Was it a iPhone? Great Job! The car is beautiful.

  • @eastrockaway11518 No, it was a Volkswagen not an iPhone.

  • I can´t believe that it´s engine is more silent when accelerating than another cars

  • make a review on VW Tiguan 2012

  • I feel like this car would look better with some projector xenon headlamps!

  • Thanks for the vid. I've been looking at a few cars to buy and used your videos when I couldn't compare side by side at the dealers. This vid here helped me make my decision on the passat tdi. Ordered it today. Thanks for the excellent work.

  • Thanks for showing. Passat has absolutely been improved. And the 800mile range, is nowadays priceless. I wish I had the money; I'd buy that car in a heartbeat.

    Great Video.

  • it has the chime of a Mercedes

  • I love this car but a few gripes. Where are the HID options, park distance control, and a feature they have here in Japan on the Passat Variant the auto start-stop feature. Thats what I call options and at todays conversion rates its only $1189 more than the US SEL TDI plus its a wagon??? Not to mention that TDI in the video is the states TDI everywhere else gets a sportier TDI engine with more hp and torque without sacrificing mileage just saying...

  • 01:46 welcome to your passat :))

  • Excellent review. This is a great car packed with too many features. I need to get one. Like one reviewer mentioned, I was wondering about how to find diesel gas stations since not all gas stations carry diesel fuel. I saw another video about the passat navigation where there is an option to search for diesel gas stations. If so, then it is wonderful.

  • @copperfieldbeagle Great question. I think the answer to your question is, you'll find them stations, now that more and more diesel stations are popping up around it will be even easier to find a stations in the very near figure.

  • I am extremely impressed with this redesign. The diesel is ultra quiet and ultra fuel efficient. Very nice interior and the Fender audio system is really impressive. All new cars should come with HD radio like VW. I can't wait to go and test drive one of these.

  • I am going to buy mine tomorrow. I want the SEL TDI with every option possible.

  • @volkswagenaustin03 When you get this car will you please let us know how you like it. We would like lots of details. Hope you have fun with it.

  • @mikerules666 Just came home with it. So far it is really pleasant to drive. You feel like your driving a car double or triple the price. No squeaks or rattles and the Diesel engine is more than powerful enough. The DSG transmission shifts super fast and is always in the right gear when you need power. So far it's amazing and I highly recommend it.

  • @volkswagenaustin03 That's awesome. I'm definitely gonna go try one out. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. Enjoy your new car. :)

  • @volkswagenaustin03 how mutch does that cost becouse i really like it too but i cant find a price

  • @12cazzie look on main website

  • 5:56 "They're also heated"..the way you said that made me die laughing.

  • How's the reliability? I want my dad to buy this car but he wants a reliable car. He had an accident recently (totaled his car) and doesn't want to spend too much on a car, but wants good mileage (mpg). I really don't want another Prius.

  • you should have mentioned that it was motortrend's 2012 car of the year....

  • @Bagadaboats this was posted back in october

  • My mom just got one of these. Its a fantastic car.

  • Not sure if the TDI is s good choice for me, especially with that weird sloshing noise that the new owners are getting

  • @applesmnch2 Is that sloshing sound you are talking about coming from the gas tank? They are supposed to put an anti-slosh divider in the tank. Hmmm....if so, then maybe it's in the wrong place. I'll have to do more research.

  • lol the guidance voices sounds lazy :P

  • Motortrend car of the year right here bitches!!!

  • @Jakeman21642 That is too funny. :D

  • Why does it have the rev limit? Stupid question lol i know but, considering this car. Also does it have that rpm limit when accelerating?

  • @kewlick31 No it doesn't.

  • @DavidSlagter thanks

  • 30 mpg city that's amazing but might have trouble finding gas stations with diesel.

  • @bmwmsport11 I guess it depends where you live, all gas stations here have a diesel pump

  • Looks like an Impala with a VW badge.

  • Hey, your video has good content, but I am not sure I totally agree with it... I guess that is why everyone has a channel and opinion right? Either way I like the content and the presentation. I picked up a few ideas from this video so thank you for posting. May I ask, how you go about determining what to make video content about? Are you looking for trending topics or are you just making content around what you think people should be consuming online? I am trying to figure out my process...

  • I'm looking to lease the TDI SEL. But I'm not sure if I will be able afford it.

  • I've ordered mine! What are you all waiting for?

  • @luisinhoens90 no offense but i don't see what's wrong with leather seats in a car. I've always preferred them. Their easier to clean, comfortable, and I also like that you don't have to add it as a thousand dollar option like say Porsche or BMW and any other German luxury/entry level luxury cars have.

  • Is it me or is that one big ass transmission tunnel?? :0 lol

  • @tepeke88 What do you mean?

  • just got mine last week :) i have abroken leg tho so be few before i drive around

  • @sweetjuice143 did you buy or lease?

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... i bought it, 12.000 down financed the rest

  • @Jakeman2164 No sound is better than shitty sound

  • I wanted to be offended that VW gave us our own Passat and even build it in the US, but I really like this damn thing. The new Jetta not so much...wish they would make a wagon version of the North American Passat. TDI makes my mouth water.

  • 10 people drive a hybrid.

  • the engine on the 2011-present Volkswagen Passat

    Engine

    2.5L I5

    3.6L VR6

    2.0L I4 TDI

    1.8L I4 TSI

    2.0L I4 TSI

    3.0L V6

  • I test drove one and was impressed. It was quick!

  • German cars are the best ones!

  • It's always irritated me how VW is insistent on forcing leather (both real AND fake) on customers that want a TDI in the Passat. Many would like cloth seats instead. They do the same thing on the Jetta.

Last I checked, only way to get cloth/TDI is to get the Golf.

  • @AvalonMan96

I agree, I'd better take cloth over fake leather (aka Leatherette), but well maybe high demand for cloth seats on TDI equipped Passats could make that happen

  • @AvalonMan96

I agree 100% That Fake leather that VW uses is miserable. And, real leather isn't much better. Otherwise the vehicles are very nice.

  • Now look at the European Passat and compare.

The Americans have ruined the Passat and Jetta and the Golf is next on the chopping block. This horrible travesty of a car is why we can't have nice things in North America. I don't want a VW Camry and VW Corolla if I wanted that I'd buy a Toyota.

  • @TheV12Diesel.

Sadly wolkswagen's cost cutting solution its all over the damn car!

The previous Gen pasat was way better IMO, and it had that European look.

    This just looks bland

  • @TheV12Diesel why?

i think thte passat before has no face. this passat is more style

  • @JohnPlayer4ever Go to vw.de click modelle and then passat and look at the gallery. It's a completely different car from what we get.

  • @TheV12Diesel i know the old passat im from germany we have 100000 passats on street. and i say the old one looks so ugly , too big round lights. and no style. this passat has a face like the vw golf or polo.

audi, bmw they have the same. 1 charactaristic face each evry modell bmw 3 or 5 or 6 or 7 they have the

    distinctively look.

VW s problem was tht VW didnt had a Face. Polo, Golf , Passat, Jetta that old cars looks all different.

Now they have a individuel face like 'Bmw Audi Mercedes.

  • @TheV12Diesel sry for my shit english :D

  • Kyle dreams about smart key access system every day..:)

  • Great thorough review

  • @ddnn3 Yes, but only in certain cars, not all do that. Some skip gears and go into the highers gears in which disregarding lower gears.

  • No HID option? :(

  • In Germany we call all the Passats ''Bosspassats'' because of their excellent reputation :D

I love VW and the Passat :)

  • @xXSCARFACE1983Xx What do you think about the US spec Passat?

  • @contractki11er

    Awesome as well. :)

  • Is it just me or have VW's got more bland and less unique? First the dreary new Jetta, then this? ugh.

  • it would be really great if you told us the starting price and the "fully loaded" price of the cars

  • I just realized, they got rid of the Passat wagon with the redesign! I wish wagons would make a comeback, but I suppose that competes some with the Routan minivan.

  • can you do a 2012 beetle turbo?

  • this one definitely looks different to the european model

  • love the review, hate the car!

  • The previous Generation was so much better looking and better build!

  • @barloc123

better looking for sure, but build quality looks good to me

  • just saying you know what to do if you see a Bugatti veyron

  • what does "SEL" means?

  • @hector4295 it's the highest trim level.

  • They Bulid Any TDIs In The Ones On The Right I Think They Are Golfs. 00:14 ?

  • The new passat is Beautiful!

  • wtf so if i go up to one of these and hold the door knob it unlocks by itself and it allows me to steal it :O

  • oooppsss 2 insects escaped from storage. 10.41

  • Rear door area looks like the 2006-2012 Chevy impala.

  • How about a test drive

  • This is a nice car love the Volkswagen/Audi interiors.

  • @ saabkyle04

Is this Diesel, Premium Gasoline, or Unleaded?

  • @asrockrpg Diesel

  • isn't this car just a longer jetta?

  • @counkev you could say the same for bmw 3 5 and 7 series

  • @counkev Yes, yes it is.

  • ill take one without the push button start

  • Lucky Americans. Here in Europe we get an ugly saloon version of the Passat :(

  • I like this car for some reason...

  • The car looks good, its just really irritating how every time you open the door it starts dinging non stop!

  • This car would have been perfect if they would have offered bi-xenon headlights.

  • In my opinion US version looks much better than EU version.

  • Check this out if you want to see the best Volkswagen Diesel Engine with 180hp : /watch?v=B5yIfiLQwwY

And if you want to have the better Passat check this out : (its the station wagon but also quite impressiv)

    /watch?v=3C9pd9wjDfw

  • Beautiful car my favorite

  • Kyle, here's an idea. Maybe you can put the MSRP for the vehicle that you are reviewing.

  • @stewardlie $32,965

  • @stewardlie He said it a million times, that if you want the prices, go and check out the dealer's webpage. MILLION TIMES. FOR YEARS.

  • I wonder why Toyota or Honda doesn't make diesel here in the US to compete with other high mileage diesel cars. =(

  • kyle you ever get tired of doing the whole smart key procedure, id be saying not this again

  • The front is ugly compared with the 2010 Passat!

  • i like the loook of the this PAssat

  • Diesel engines are great and they might be quieter than they were a few years ago but that motor still sounds like crap. It's nice you had to open the door in order to hear it. Also, does the media center seem a bit slow to respond to commands?

  • Sirocco!!

  • I can see the cost cutting just by looking 1 second into the interieur. The european version is much nicer but also more expensive.

Atleast its build in America for America.

  • It looks better than a Sonata ! In My Opinion !

  • for its price a passat delivers a lot! awesome car

  • hate this car

  • I really like this car it has a lot of class and great mpg. But what cheapens it for me is the fact that there is a PROP ROD for the hood, I can forgive that until I saw the back seat had No power outlets or vents for rear passengers. The lines and body of the car A+

  • The sensible side of me REALLY wants one of these. They're pretty nice!

  • why must all the cars I like have sunroofs? LOL! Great video Kyle!

  • @strumem90 You don't like sunroofs?

  • @Captainskier utterly despise them lol :)

  • the rev limiter at 2.5 K is only in park mode

  • @rickrossthebosz Dude, its a Diesel....

  • @shauntanweibin I don't know if you've ever drove a diesel but in holland ( Europe ) 50 % of the cars are diesels. my driving school had a cheap diesel car too, and it easily got to 3 K rpm. BMW sport diesels do 4.5 or even 5 K rpm

  • Comment removed

  • @rickrossthebosz Really? Maybe its because its red line is till 5000 rpm, thats why it revs till 2500 rpm

  • I don't give a chainsaw....

  • Why get this over a CC?

  • Fail, my base CC has 4 way lumbar, this is an SEL with 2 way lol

  • Wish I could get one

  • Years ago it was called "recirculate", now they call it recycling.

  • Volkswagen got it right with their diesel technology. Too bad the public doesn't know all that much about it.

  • 33K for this domestic car o.0 plus tax and fees

  • wayment. was the engine actually rocking back and forth?

  • thats a huge amount of legroom, shame about the transmission tunnel though

  • you gotta love VWs das auto :D

  • I love this larger version, especially since the Phaeton is gone. VW needs a big car available.

  • is the passat basically just a bigger Jetta?

  • too bad it doesnt come with the 2.0 turbo..

  • Kyle always sounds stuffed up

  • So let me get this right...it has a switchblade key...smart key access...and push-button ignition...good to know a full size key was necessary.

  • ok now the 2012 Gli please

  • thats a half decent lookin car!

  • Kia optima sad to say has much better style than this

  • What an awful and bland car

  • great car.

  • I've said this before, and you should really read this Kyle. The sport mode doesn't give the appearance that the car is shifting like a manual. With a manual car, you can shift at any rpm range that you want. The sport mode does what it's called: makes the shifts more sporty - aka holds gears longer to accelerate faster, and downshift early so that there is no down shift lag when you want to accelerate.

  • @ddnn3 Well, that's definitely true for my Mazda 5, but I've been told that DSG is a lot closer to being able to mimic shifts at any RPM range. Can't say. Never had a DSG VW--only Tiptronic.

  • @ddnn3 you misinterpreted what I said, yes you're right but those are in fact the characteristics of a manual, more acceleration through the revs, better access to downshifting for fast acceleration, characteristics of a manual. That's exactly what I meant, I've driven cars with it before. guess I need to re phrase how I describe that lol

  • @ddnn3 I bet there is CVT in drive mode there is no gears and RPM goes to about 4x and accelerate smoothly, gearbox in sport mode has virtual gears where rpm and changing gears works like in manual.

  • In black could be mistaken for the $60,000 VW Phaeton.

  • Hackers come to play when it comes to smart keys.

  • So the "SEL" version is just the american one ?

  • Good to see Kyle's popularity has attracted the attention of so many dealers, that he is now doing a lot of new car reviews. Go Kyle!
