JTF2, CSOR, NAVY SEALS, FSSF, ALAMO SCOUTS, DELTA FORCE, SAS, SBS, SRR, FFL, there's so many special forces and support units put there but they are all strong warriors.
What bugged me in this show was that the producers constantly made it sound like the 1st Special Service Force was actually the first special service regiment (ever). It's a small matter of semantics I know, but it belittles the efforts of other WW2 special forces groups such as the SAS or LRDP or even the Stoßtruppen in WW1. Just bugs me that a persistent semantic slip made it onto the TV.
my grandfather was also in the devil's brigade. unfortunately he suffers from alzheimers and is no longer coherent enough to talk to his family about his service. it's really neat to see this show because it gives us that opportunity to better understand his experience.
Awesome.... My grandfather was in the FSSF from beginning in Helena Montana to when it was disbanded. Most didnt make it through, though he was injured twice. Im glad this is out there, they are probably one of the most impressive units of WWII. Shame the film was so miserable and inaccurate.
ACtualy the Force was disolved before the end of the war, unfortinatly, the SAS was allready in Serive, the Seals wouldnt be for Decades, and Forcemen joined 1 Can Para, which would later form the Canadian SAS, which would form the Canadian Airborne Regiment, then the JTF-2.
SAS? Navy Seals? Nope. SAS was already around, and even if it weren't, British were not part of the Brigade. It did however serve as a foundation for the modern USSF (green berets) Seals are based off of WW2 UDT's...not the Devils Brigade.
@WORLD...: Isn't the green beret just an award for valour, bravery and dutiful service? Secondly, the Seals are an equivalent, in type, force to the CSOR (Canada) and, thus, not the main, but just a support special operations unit. That in mind, I'd argue that for the American's Delta force, the main unit, is the top special force in the that nation. Finally, I feel not listing the French and Israeli special forces among the three (I do strongly agree with your list) you did is a mistake.
my uncle lee hisum was a fssf vet,he passed on last year. i was and still am very proud of his service. his sons serve in vietnam in airborne. i am so proud of them as well. Godspeed!

@justmakeitupstupid I agree, another good force were the Alamo Scouts, nobody ever even talks about them.
