  • Will get this at some point. I played through FF Tactics multiple times on the PS1 and have now got it on my Vita.

  • at first glance you feel like not playing it, but when you tried it.. it seems you cant get your hands off it...

  • This game has nothing to do with FFT. Square -enix only published this game they didn't developed it.

  • love this game ... cant live with out it :D

  • You... can save mid-battle? Well, there goes my money.

  • This game is the remake of the SNES version

  • When you hear what i'm about to say, you will shit your pants so hard, your penis will fall off,,,tactics ogre is good,

  • Any other games like this that you know of?

Ive been looking for one that i used to play when i was little but i cant remember what the name of it was... Ughhh, Back to searching the internet.

  • @erokips That's such a vague comment... There isn't even a gaming period there either or a gaming console chosen. Or a visual style. Or the view the game provides or anything.

If you can't remember the name, give some descriptive details and maybe someone can help you out.

  • @Testsubject909 It was when i was liddo like in 2005 i think it was on gamboy advance and a main character was a girl with bunny ears i think and gameplay similar to this ...

  • LOL AT THE TOP COMMENTS. BOTH FFT AND TACTICS OGRE ARE FROM SQUARE ENIX.

  • for those of u thinks this game sux.....well go fk urself

  • Terrible remake of an awesome game. It sits precariously on the line of mediocrity for that reason, which is too bad, because their extremely tedious class system damaged an otherwise stellar product.

  • @SirFuzzi The fuck are you on about? They changed absolutely nothing gameplay-wise compared to the original Tactics Ogre

  • @tykk86 Yeah, they did. The leveling system became awkward as hell for some reason, the skills changed entirely.

  • @skyrobotv What the heck? The japanese version i have is pretty much the same other than the ocasional skill name a couple of changed stat growths here and there.

  • @tykk86 So it doesn't have the same leveling classes instead of people nonsense? Also, I don't know if my game is broken or what, but why don't a lot of ailments get cured by their cures, was this some sort of translation error? Neither Bewitch, Charm, or some others get cured by either of their cures half the time, and even on the third run now, I have no idea why. Not sure why Unscathed was a title in this, because this game is not built for that at all (Lots of near insta-kills).

  • @skyrobotv So yeah, turns out i was talking straight out of my ass. I figured i'd check it to see if my booze addled memory wasn't playin' tricks on me, and voilá, i was thinking of the original SNES version as if it was the PSP one somehow.

So yes, all the crap you described it in the Jap PSP version aswell, isn't as bad as you make it to be in my opnion, but it's all there.

My bad, guess i projected the nostagia for the original into the pretty PSP graphics inside my crazy brain.

  • @tykk86 It's not bad outright, it's just awkward, kind of like they had several ideas to curb the difficulty, and just did them all. The coins would've been more than enough, the 3-count KOs and 3-count Deaths just made losing a character a moot point. First runthrough was haphazard as hell, coming off the GBA one, I had no idea what I was doing. Still only lost 1 guy, with a roughly 50% KO rate for most fights. That one guy got pushed off the map, replaced nonchalantly with a coin.

  • @skyrobotv Awkward i have to agree with... It's still enjoyable enough, but the original mechanics we're definetly better. But then again, at least it's something diferent to play, since the SNES version is so easy to get anyway.

  • @tykk86 I guess so, though with emulators apparently becoming illegal (seriously?) it may be a lot more difficult. Either way, it's not that it's not fun now, there's still plenty of strategy, but keeping characters as ride-alongs for a fight just seems depressing after they were unstoppable 5 minutes ago. Using every class, You don't end up upgrading a group so much as shoe-horning the new classes into it. Even with exp-balancing it takes a good few hours at least.

  • @skyrobotv I really doubt emulators will become illegal anytime soon. All this anti-piracy crap going on is just a lot of smoke in a haystack with no fire to show for it, until they start looking at this from the right angle that's all it'll ever be.

Anyway, the system in the remake is flawed as hell indeed. Honestly, i don't care much for it, i just want to know who do i have to blow so they'll give me FFT 2. :p

  • @tykk86 Looking over the bill, it was the most vague crap I'd ever seen (That first line is priceless), which is probably why people are nervous. Either way, I'm surprised that so much detail went into everything else, but this levelling system seemed OK to someone. It's especially odd considering they just came off of FFTA2, which despite it's cartooniness was a fantastic strategy game, and that had finally perfected the levelling system (Skill points for all, xp for used team).

  • @tykk86 Besides enemies not dropping their equipment, characters leveling individually as opposed to classes, classes operating on an entirely different set of mechanics (in play and in promotion) and otherwise just generally mucking around by making every special character a liability then yeah, you're right. They didn't change a thing.

  • @SirFuzzi Might want to check the whole conversation that came after my comment there. I mixed my info up :p

  • I dont know why i repeat this game over and over, perhaps i want to finidh this game a hundred percent? But guys, for people who are fond of this game, do play it with moderation. Its addictive for people who are tacticians.

  • it sux

  • I wanna get this game...

  • this game sucks

  • @Ixions15 then go play COD moron!

  • @ramstapar shut ur dirty mouth u hairy bastard! u go and play cock sucking game!

  • Tactics Ogre has nothing to do with Final Fantasy, and Final Fantasy Tactics actually took more than a few pages from Tactics Ogre which originally came out on the SNES.

  • that stage at 1:03 it looks just like the outside of the final gafgarion fight in final fantasy tactics!

  • I got this game for my boyfriend's birthday this year and he's beaten it like 30 times over, he is absolutely obbessed with this game, its the modern Final Fantasy Tactics for him ^ ^

I tried it and I can see why people would like this game, I personally am not a fan of tactics games cause the battles take too long

  • Looks kinda like Fire emblem?

  • PSP!!! POMG

  • @InecomCompany Do correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Let Us Cling Together preceded the first Final Fantasy Tactics by a couple years. You didn't mention it in the review, but this was originally a SNES title. And a fantastic one at that. Even though the menus, soundtrack, etc. have all been overhauled, the core gameplay holds up; this is easily the best remastering I've ever played, and one of the greatest (and hardest) games I've ever played. The standard of quality here is unmatched.

  • The longer this video goes on the more pissed i get as you keep referring to this as a "Final Fantasy" game!!! You lose credibility with fans when you make the most basic of mistakes...If you review a game i would have hoped you would have at least read the damn box first...I didnt see "final fantasy" any where in the title

  • @TheAoHero Dude lay off, it was made by the same team who did FF Tactics War of the Lions, and made by Square. Most people consider them to be very similar.

  • @Jamick98Geass you obviously have not realized that this a game review!!! If you cant even get the simplest of facts right then you should not be reviewing it...and is far of similarity...yeah there the same in the sense that there both "Tactic" games but story line, and game play are clearly distinct...Tactics Orge is for a more older crowd hence the difficulty is higher, FF is for kids...you can tell by the cute little characters lol

  • @TheAoHero LOL! Have you played War of the Lions???? Everybody except like 3 character all die. In fact, one guy is read off because he was burned at the stake! Oh yeah, sooooo little kid material.

  • @Jamick98Geass LOL I was just talking to a friend about the ending and how the guy is burned at the stake.

  • @TheAoHero fucking read the description...

  • This wasnt a final fantasy game

  • it's Seth Rogen!!

  • uh, this isn't part of final fantasy tactics series

  • tactical games are amazing but im terrible at them lol

  • 1st mistake dude ..... TO:LUCT is not correlated to FF saga, thus you cant say is part from the series, totally different game .... and must add better than all FFT together

  • @luievd89 ohh yeah, second mistake, this game was THE revolution for strategy games for every single way. thus leting the develpment of the FFT saga ...

so much that for this remake there was not a big need to modify game itself, back in 95 was so complete that covered almost all needs ..... ummm srry for bad english :S)

  • @luievd89 Fire Emblem 1990

  • This is the game that got me addicted to tactical RPGs!

  • Why is it so complicated? I like those kind of games but why so complicated? I give up trying to learn it. Next time take lessons from Advance Wars developers.

  • Greatest game ever. Looks like they left it pretty much the same from the ps1 version with a few sound and graphical upgrades. I am going to break out the ps1 and get a zombie/undead army.

  • Apparently, "Let Us Cling Together" is a reference to Queen.

  • @SiGhast "Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen", the first game of the series, has not only one, but two Queen references in its title.

  • @Shulamana Indeed.

  • "Part of the Final Fantasy Tactics series"?!?!? This game taught FFT everything it knows! This hurts, so very much.

  • Looks lovely!

  • do a real review, compare the new version with the original, and stop doing dumb jokes

  • @mascarafea1 smile someday

  • I love this guys voice, imagine how dramatic driving would be if he did a voiceover for Sat Nav's^^

  • just got a psp go and got disgaea 2 and now have this downloading now

  • meh...disgea was better but this is still good

  • @cedricgabionza of course, disgea is for retards kids like you

  • @vonpiro Whats wrong with Disgea? Its a great series man, I love all my tactics games!

  • Great review, and glad to see you enjoyed the game -- just one small gripe. You make a comment about how Tactics Ogre doesn't really revolutionize the genre or anything like that, but you also didn't mention the Chariot Arcana system, which is a fairly important feature of the game and has basically broken other Tactics games for me at this point. Now when I play FFT, I instinctively tap L when I've made a mistake, expecting to be able to jump back a few turns and correct course.

  • the review makes me lol.

good game and review. the graphics look crappy and kinda too old school at first but it grows on you once you start going deeper into the gameplay

  • Does anyone else think that the reviewer sound like Stan the salesman from Monkey Island?!

  • This game is an OGRE classic. Long before any Final Fantasy, and before FFT too

  • @Dalboni Before FFT yeah...before FF no your absolutely wrong.

  • idiots who says that this game sux go comment on ur nolifers games like l2 , wow and other mmorpg shit. This game is so epic I still remember how fun was it on gameboy

  • @cyriszx This game was never on the Gameboy though. It was released on the SNES, PS1 and now on the PSP. This is a remake of the original Tactics Ogre, Tha GBA one is not this one.

  • @TheCarvalhoVitor I wasnt speaking about this version I was speaking about Knight of Lodis

  • Outstanding review for a great game.

  • @SrRunsis This game isn't for you. Screw off.

  • FFT, FFTA, FFTA2, I have so much fun from Tactics Ogre Knights of the Lodis (GBA).

  • My roomate bought a psp, and he wont stfu damnding i go out and buy one, this is probably the only game id want to buy, anyone played this? I've played FFT & FFTA grimoire of fate ect, and im rly into those (unlocking a rogue early lving him/her the most and stealing boss loots):P Anyway so how does this game compare to FFT?

  • @lotf99 i can't compare them their both pretty epic! but both are definitely are on the top games on the psp

since u like tactics gameplay then this is a must buy also the remake of FFTactics(war of the lions) buy a psp man hahaha

  • @lotf99 Well, about their similar styles, Tactics Ogre came out first as the isometric turnbased tactics gameplay, Final Fantasy just copied the idea.

  • Oh dear. This is not part of the Final Fantasy Tactics series. They have the same creators such as Sakimoto and Matsuno, but they are in no way related to each other. Just wanted to point that out. Not part of the Ivalice alliance in any way.

  • @Growllanser The Zeteginia World is OLDER than any Final Fantasy game

  • @Dalboni In what way? The original Final Fantasy was released in 1987 with Ogre Battle getting it's release in 1993. Ivalice has a history, but it's time-line and months aren't anything like the world in Tactics Ogre.

  • 1:23 the time and storyline is complex, haha so true, the story is bigger than Lord of the Rings.

  • Please do this for tactic game fans (like yourself): Review Disgaea 2: Dark Hero's Days PSP (there is a PS2 version thoug)

  • The order of Wind Squid LOL

  • I have a question, After you beat Tactics Ogre, is there additional gameplay?

  • And what I meant with FFT being deep is the ability to cross job abilities; you can't do anything like that in this new Ogre game.

  • @Fikakillarna As good as ogre games have always been; if you haven't played either, I would highly recommend FFT first. It's such a deep game that you can explore for literally years. Also, try the Disgea (spelling?) series when you get the dough because they are way more complex and deep than ogre and FFT combined. But get FFT first; as I said nothing is cooler than using a Holy Knight for the first time, nothing. Ogre doesn't have that same fantastical awesomeness.

  • @redhawkdown2 It's really good. It's literally the same game with a couple of new classes and a bit more content. Very good, and not the least bit disappointing. Using lightning strike with Orlandu for the first time is frigging awesome all over again.

  • Wich should I get, FFT War of the Lions or this one?

  • @Fikakillarna tactics ogre

  • What about gimili

  • @DaemonWrathchild really? do you really expect the reviewer to research the bands that the director of the game likes? Cut him some slack dude. Mistakes are human right? Also, great review, I'll pick this one up

  • But yes if you like FFT original you'll definitely like tactics ogre. Ogre is much more balanced. You can't have a dual wielding knight with a chaos blade and Excalibur in each hand that has almost 100% parry in tactics ogre like you can

in FF. Was in reality a better game than FFT.

  • I bought a psp to play that game, and I've never used it really after that; at least until now that ogre is out. I'm gonna grab this.

  • Cont. In the original but it wasn't true, so they put it in the remake to finally give us our secret dark knight

  • This is not Final Fantasy Tactics. Back on ps1 there was ff tactics and tactics ogre. I'm pretty sure Ogre was first. That was a while ago. All I remember from ogre was the incubus spell/attack, for some reason. FF I still remember the story and weapons and everything haha. Played it more than ogre. Never played the new tactics games, except for the psp remake of the original which gave you a dark knight class (there was always this deep rooted rumor that a dark knight was possible in the origi

  • @BER2ERKER The dark knight rumor was a cruel joke. I never played the PSP remix how re they compared to the ori? I plan on getting a PSP since they re quite cheap nowadays for this game FFT and some other JRPG like P3P.

  • Why didn't you mention anything about being able to go back a few turns and redo moves/attacks/skills?

  • should i buy this? i mean i loved the original FFT

  • thumbs up if you LOVE classic game room

  • I love your reviews but you HAVE to fix those random pauses in the middle of sentences... it makes you sound like a robot.

  • @yoyoyo88665 I'd rather have that than a reviewer who talks non-stop and very very quickly.

  • Denim = Ramza, Vyce = Delita, etc. The difference are the people in Tactics Ogre have more personality. Seriously.

  • Niiiice I love FF tactics I think I'll love this one too =)

  • I love this game

  • I don't need to pick between this and FF Tactics. I can buy both.

  • Mr. Mark, if you like strategy games, please, PLEASE, check out the Disgaea series. Especially the third one on the PS3 because

    1. It is by Nippon Ichi Software, the leader in anime-style JRPGs

    2. The level-grinding, panel-strategy will be addicting

and 3. The dark humor could make an emo laugh.

And that is an impressive feat.

  • you have the coolest voice.

  • Wow, the ignorance of the reviewer is amazing.

1- Tactics Ogre is not a FFT spinoff. It's quite the opposite: After Tactics Ogre on the SNES, the director Yasumi Matsuno and his crew developed FF Tactics. Tactics Ogre is in fact the sequel for the Ogre Battle, which is an SNES SRPG too.

2-Matsuno is a Queen fan. Ogre Battle : March of the Black Queen's name, the first game in the series, is made of two Queen songs. Let Us Cling Together is another Queen song.

  • psn release NOW

  • Can he stop talking in a fucking robotic voice?

  • is thliek final fantasy tactics war of the lion that was good

  • Games like this are fun but they are WAAAAY too hard.

  • I'd say one of the best parts I like about this is game is the class system. If one of your units levels up for a certain class, it's permanent, and if someone else changes to that same class, they start at that same level instead of just level 1. The thing is, the unit's strength comes from their experience of skills and mastery of a variety of weapons. Even a mage can fight on the front lines in place of casting spells from the back.

  • How's this game compared to FF Tactics? I love Tactics, but I must not be very good at that game, or tactic game in general, because I try so hard but that game kicks my butt! I can't even get passed the beginning of the game -_-

  • Geez, Mark. You make it sound like the complex and sophisticated plot is an impediment to your fun. Are you a child?

  • let the psp fans cling together

  • At first I was like "Wha-... I think I played something REALLY similar back on the PSX" I let the review continue "Yep... yep... I did. THANK YOU FINAL FANTASY TACTICS"

  • i really wanna try this game out and i really wanna become fan of these kinds of tactics games the only game which is like this ive played is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance which wasnt very good :/

  • @MrSmexiiPanda621 That game was amazing, if you didnt like that you won't like any tactics games. Perhaps try Jeanne D'arc it's a lot simpler.

  • lol "are you sure you want to name your forces the Order of WIND SQUID?" "yes"

  • Mark...we forgive you

  • I've played both this and Final fantasy tactics and I have to say i prefer Final Fantasy Tactics. Something about Tactics Ogre made it feel kind of tedious to play.

  • Continued:

Mark, in case you are curious, Enix relesaed "Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen" in 1993. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together was released in 1995 and THEN in 1997(jp)/1998(usa) Final Fantasy: Tactics was finally released.

The Ogre games by Enix and FF: Tactics by Square.

Then later on the two companies merged and while they have the word Tactics in them and similar gameplay, they are not related at all.

It's like saying Columns is a the latest in the Tetris series.

  • @LanIost Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre were made by Quest...and not Enix.

Quest merged with Square while their were still known as Square Soft.

Enix never had no relation with this series (until merging with Square).

And this two games are actually related. But not has Mark puts them.

Final Fantasy Tactics is a spiritual successor to Tactics Ogre. Both games were made by the same people. Final Fantasy Tactics is Tactics Ogre in the Final Fantasy Universe. ;)

    Both great games.

  • This is the absolute first time in the history of CGR where I've ever seen Mark be so strikingly wrong. Tactics Ogre is NOT related to Final Fantasy: Tactics or it's series in any way. Except that they are similar.

Similar tn the same way that Bioshock is sort of similar to System Shock and, going back, Flashback was similar to Out of This World (Another World.)

But then again, it's easy to see how this mistake could be made with Square and Enix merging.

  • I haven't played the original, but this remake is probably my favorite game on PSP. I mean, how often do you get to make branching moral choices in a Japanese game?

  • @ladieslovethebanana lame! Disgaea is such utter overated garbage. I am quite fine with Tactics Ogre. I weep for you for actually liking the crap that is Dishittia. ;(

  • The subtitles for all of the main Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle games are named after Queen songs, and by Queen, I do mean the rock band.

  • This game looks sexy, I remember loving the original but never finishing it.

I may get a PSP for this, especially since it will get cheaper as hell the closer the NGP is to launch.

  • Let Us Cling Together is the name of the song by Queen. Previous game in the series, the March of the Black Queen is another of Queen Song. This, and "ignorant" (fans are disgusted, you know!) FFT sequel remark aside, great review! This is one badass game.

  • amazing TRPG series? Disgaea. you should review those

  • @ladieslovethebanana and all others made by Nippon Ichi

  • Narration by Kain FTW.

  • Comment removed

  • From the sounds of it, they spent a good deal on the music. I will have to pick up the sound track, lol.

  • fake and gay

  • Yup. Tactics Ogre was the granddaddy of FFT and other clones. FFT was more polished. But this remake makes me wonder which one is actually better... hm. guess I enjoy both just as well :)

  • Team Wind Squid can kick Team Edward's butt!

  • He talks about Final Fantasy but he never reviewed any Final Fantasy game..

  • The subtitle is kind of badass considering its a tribute to the band Queen who were apparently like many bands were big in Japan. xD

  • all hail the mighty order of WIND SQUID

  • I'm sure you've had several people complaining in the comments already, but this isn't a new entry in the FFT series, the guy who originally made this game went on to make FFT for Square. This game actually predates that one. It was on the SNES and the PS1, and still goes for quite a bit of money. The FFT games were modeled after this series.

  • i don't like the game but the review is .... AWSOME!!!!!

  • What a lando game!

  • Unfortunately I'm one of those people who doesn't like tactical RPGs... =( (I love normal JRPGs though)

  • I wouldn't have thought Mark loved the Classic Game Room ;) Anyway this game is awesome. I was obsessed with it in the original PSX release.

  • 10 people thought it was the love button.

  • 5:32, no you flamethrower'd Newt! Now where will the plot to aliens come from?!

  • Great game!

A little bit low on graphics, and some tedious things like the inability to walk through water without the wade skill and many times the passages are too narrow to cross, so it is slow for your characters to advance.. Also for killing the undead you have to exorcise them... that was tedious too.

But it´s a great game you have to play if you like turn based strategy games. I prefer other strategy games for PSP like Jeanne D'arc and FFTactics though.

  • Your missing out on Disgaea dood.

  • @BluShadesX yeah, he should totally review a disgaea game :D

  • This is like shining force on the genesis.

  • lol i named my alliance The order of Snow,6 ... yeah...

  • Am i the only one that thought it said tactics orgies?

  • Man I never thought anyone would challenge my man love for AVGN, but CGR is putting up a good fight here based on quantity alone, not even factoring in the quality of all the quantity, which is awesome.

  • rewiew orge battle 64 one day that has been awesome and mario tennis 64

  • "Do you know who we are?!"

    "...The Knights Who Say 'Ni'?"

"Fool. We are The Order of The Wind Squid!"

  • yay no commercials go EDF! EDF!

  • I find it funny the PSP is getting all these great releases now when its basically too late. Where were all these great releases 1-2 years ago?

  • @roundtr1p If you played Monster Hunter Freedom Unite you didn't need a game for 1-2 years.

  • Ehh, personally I prefer the Nippon Ichi games, they're a lot like these, only funnier and crazier :)

  • FIRST!

  • If you like this, review makai kingdom!

  • "A bit wordy in the beginning."

Reminds me of Paper Mario 2. They start talking... and 60 minutes later, you're like "SHUT THE EFF UP!!!"
