  • Apparently, the Republic uses Windows 98 for their shield generator consoles.

  • can u make one of the tristar pegasus from the movie logo on a black background because i need the animation of a logo im making

  • that was freaking awesome.

  • This is great. Beautiful story telling with animation!

  • Awesome ! That's a lot of works

  • Really good work there. Liked so many things about this, esp. the lighting. Also the little touches like the Star wars type screen wipe. I have given this a favourable review on my site "scififunk"

  • Noooo! I was going to call my character Rasp! Rasp, the hero of Kaas.

  • the animation is good but the movement is tarabol!

  • Amazing. Very well done if this was a solo 6 month job. Gratz!

  • Hey dude just one thing i noticed wrong with this, don't know if anyone else mentioned it but when Darth Rasp was shutting down the shields, the buttons on the screen were in English not Basic. Other than that, really superb work, your awesome.

  • Great great work! Really great. The one thing that bugged me was the stale movement, but i know from personal experience that its really anoying doing everything even more frame by frame... Awesome anyways! Classic "Star wars" scenes! The fly in, the fighting was awesome and a perfect cliffhanger ending!

May i ask though why you didnt use Lambda Class shuttles as transports?

  • i laughed when the guy tried to make a run for it then was caught in the choke hold lol

Magic Vid, Im defo a fan of what happens next ^_ ^

  • I guess you are a game designer... but you know what I mean! Hope you don't mind, but I added you to my contacts on my SWTOR page!

  • Dude, that was awesome! You should become a game designer!

  • Dude great work. I know exactly what went into doing this as I did a Battlestar Galactica one thats on here too. Alot of hard work and sleepless nights I'll bet.

How were the render times? Mine took 1 straight week of rendering on a 5 pc renderfarm. God then Post fixing blackspots etc.

WTG are you going to do another?

  • Good work man, congratulation!

  • very well done, ignore the trolls, they are muppets with no skill and no vision, I hope to see more of your work in the future

  • You know, my friends and I got together a few months ago to try and make a short fan game. We dropped it, but I was in charge of model creation and stuff, so I can appreciate this... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you don't mind me asking, but how old are you?

  • Brilliant work! :D

  • dude, I sincerely hope you are sending this out to publishers and devs and that you have a solid portfolio. you have great talent and it should not go to waste on making fan based animation. Hope to see your name on the credits of a major game one day!!!

  • dude can you give me the link to the website where you got the 3d animation creator

  • wow dude just wow im speachless tHIS WAY AWESOME

dude u should like be on machinama or something

how can this only have 31k views?

    DUDE congrat man awesome job!

btw did u sign up to beta test swtor?

    just a question

i didn' but i wana get the game when it comes out

  • sequel?

  • the end is ....perfect

  • damnnnnn... pretty freaking amazing. I'm impressed. 6 months and this?

    freaking awesome.

  • Freakin amazing !

  • meh

  • The animation is a bit cheap and robotic.

  • @Supermassively please read the description

  • @WhitneyWildCat10 The description says nothing about why the animation looks so crappy.

  • @Supermassively He made it by scratch...using Maya..

  • @WhitneyWildCat10 And that excuses bad animation, how?

  • @Supermassively Really, I'd like to see you make something better than this in 6 months. Only people who have tried know how hard it is. If you can't do better, than don't criticize him. I haven't seen you make something like this!

  • @MrMohanbharath Don't count on it. Supermassively might be redefining the meaning of loser troll that needs to get a life! :D

  • @byzantineblitz Probably, but still, I like to try to make people see their mistakes... maybe I've met my match here...

  • Wow - great video! Cant wait to see part 2!

  • Good work man. I'm not going to bother nitpicking because I know you did this solo, which is cool. But the one thing I'm confused about: who is Darth Raith? If that's a Rebel base, and the reb insignia is everywhere, what other Sith were there?

  • @alessimc This video doesn't respect any particular time line. I used stormtroopers and rebels for convenience. I already had those models built. This made me choose an OT back drop. Otherwise, it would have taken longer because I would have had to create Old Republic troopers, texture and rig them from the ground up.

This is not strictly a ToR video. ToR was just the inspiration for a pet project. Something to do for fun.

  • @alessimc I see man. You have good talent. We were talking about this on the Torocast forums and podcast in fact. Made ya famous!

  • That was absolutely amazing! For some thing that took six months to make, this is incredible! Could I add you on the SWTOR site?

  • @HolyHalo4856 Thanks a lot! Sure you can add me.

  • @PhilRiveraMedia dude that was awesome, was that darth mauls ship in the beginning?

  • @StokerOne775 It was a modified version fitted with Tie Interceptor wings. Just wanted to make something familiar but different.

  • @PhilRiveraMedia oh ok, still looked cool

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, what kind of education or training do you have in this field?

If you just "picked up" 3D animation on your own I am deeply impressed.

    Thats was very nicely done.

  • Love the movies, loved SWG, will love SWTOR, love your video... simply amazing to do this single handedly! Congratz!

  • Great job! Apart from some minor physics and bio-physics issues this was fantastic.

    Some minor points:

    1) You mean Republic Base? There're no rebels in TOR (I think)

    2) Why are there Clone Troopers (?)

    3) It'd have been cooler if he'd lopped off the first guy's head with his lightsaber :P

    4) The New Republic/Rebellion crest is anachronous. So is the Empire's

    Hope to see the followup!

  • Good job, especially considering you did it all by yourself. Don't be offended but I'd like to offer a few constructive criticisms.

    - Darth Rasp's cloak looks bland. It's flat looking with no folds, wrinkles or a discernible texture.

    - The walking animation for Darth Rasp and the patrolling guard look off. Darth's walk seems unnatural while the guard's is very repetitive/jerky near the knees.

Other than that your models, textures and lighting were really spot on. Keep it up!

  • @Kriterian

Walking animation sounds easy until you realize how many muscles and joints are at work. Go for a walk and think about all of the individual motions your body is making to keep balance and momentum. It's alot tougher to model than people realize. Things like jumping or kicking are easier. This guy did great for the time he spent on it.

  • @Faradune I agree, just wanted to give some constructive criticism. It's such a difficult thing, I could barely describe what was wrong, other than it looked wrong. I can't imagine trying to do it myself, it takes major talent just to get them to LOOK human, let alone, walk like one.

  • @Kriterian Yep, talent and lots of patience. Agreed. As a side, I've been playing Mass Effect 2, and Shepard really feels like he's jogging/running/storming, etc. Bioware is so awesome.

  • did i just see a storm trooper

  • This is amazing!

    Keep up.

  • Very nice, good attention to detail.

  • WOW, this is epic man, Awsome job keep up the good work!! wish i could do something this amazing XD

  • Awesome, That is TOATALY AMAZING!!! :D

  • I give this a thumbs up because this is an impressive job for just a handful of fans to do.

  • Definitely not bad. not perfect, but FAR from bad. THe Models were pretty good. The textures, were a tad lacking, a little too flat if you ask me, but still not bad...just need a bit more "texture" to them. The area where this movie suffered the most was the animations though. The animations while not bad, were very stiff and robotic. Animating naturally moving characters can be a pain in the ass

trust me...i know. This turned out pretty damn well though.

  • this is pretty incredible. well done mate

  • I find this extremely hard to believe that you did it by yourself. If you did though, you should definetely sign on with LucasArts! ;)

  • great video your work is very amazing, it must have taken a lot of time to have such a result! What 3D program do you use?

  • dude 3 things: 1. FUCKING AWESOME! 2. Whats ur name on the old republic website? i want to add you 3. do you own a xbox 360?

  • @HaloPLaYeRToDaY 1. Thanks! 2. Vitellius 3. Nope, mostly a PC gamer. If you have Steam, my name is Raith.

  • Hey this got posted on the official Star Wars: TOR site so it's a full success :P

  • lol good ending,

  • Pretty dope animation.. Keep doing your thing..

  • Good job man! I love it!

  • this is amazing man, I can only hope that the next one you make is in the TOR timeline XD

  • Some of the animations weren't very good but great work.

  • Impressive... most impressive!

  • nice vid some minor motion flaws but a hell of alot better than what i can do so i wont complain XD overall GJ

  • Very nice work, its intresting , yes it could be done better , ofcourse, but its fan art and whit that said its overall very nice. Hope to see a part two. Congratz again

  • Anyone know if there is going to be space/space combat in SW:TOR? Or are those space ships each character get just player housing, as I'm suspecting?

  • Very nice, especially for being just for fun, it was a hell of a job.

  • That was really good! Very impressive.

  • Awesome work man, I really liked the interior of the bunker, and the landing of the Sith's ship looked great. Keep up the good work!

  • This is awesome! I'm Dartha!

  • Totally awesome. I love it.

  • I didn't know Sith Lords were fat guys with goatees

  • @rocospi What are you talking about?? Why are you talking about fat guys with goatees??

  • That is amazing! I could only imagine what you could do with an entire team behind you. I hope Bioware has you do something on The Old Republic or gives you something for the good work you did.

  • GOOD job man..... O_o

  • Oh my god I jizzed when I saw this... That is AMAZING!

  • Maybe Bioware could hire you, If this is a one man job imagine what you can do with an entire crew!!

  • Devotion win :) Very well made. Ignore all the idiots who say this is rubbish. They probably can't do it to save their lives!

  • Good nice models and all, but the animations are a little too stiff. That's just about the only problem I see with the video so far. Other than that great vid!

  • Comment removed

  • Dude, this is brilliant! Very well made! :o

  • Stop saying this isnt good. This is very excellent for a one man project.

  • AWESOME JOB MAN!

  • This is great stuff and the ending is a classic cliffhanger only one thing i Question when the sith threw the lighsaber at 3:20 why woesn't the lightsaber on? Other than that is was great worthy stuff it would be cool if they put it in the old republic (just change it around a-bit). Are you going to make a sequel?

  • @Ruledove128 it was on and in fact stuck in his back

  • Wow that was great. I wasn't trying to be critical but one of the things I noticed was when he looked through the binoculars, it kinda suctioned onto his face. I thought that was pretty funny. Overall it was great... ignore the haters.

  • As an animator myself, I can tell a lot of work went into this. I do have some comments to be taken as constructive criticism. Your animation is very mechanical, for instance the walks, there's no up and down action, the pelvis is locked at the same Z location and the legs sort of "stick". Work on your overlapping action, wave actions, follow through and anticipations. What also might help you a lot is if you filmed out friends playing out the actions you wanted to do before hand for reference.

  • really good job mate, keep it up!

  • great job

  • for 1 person this looks like it would take atleast 1 year O_O in other words epic

  • Much love from me for yo movie. Hope u come wit mo. Btw, the sound wasn't that good, but the 3d was awesome! Kick ass, really!

  • Fanastic man, i especially like the fighting scene and the flying scene with the Pilots and Stormtroopers. Fanastic piece of work..

  • This is so good and as you said took a while, one of the best fan made vids out there, can't wait for the next one. :)

  • This was featured on the SWTOR website. Congratulations man!

  • Hey assholes, why don't you try making a fully 3D rendered movie by yourself within a year, then come back and talk.

  • For Fan made this is far above what other people are doing. Yeah sure it's not perfect, either are the actually star war movies. It's still one of the better ones out there

  • It seems like a few people really have no clue how painstalkingly hard this is and how long you have to work on it.

Had a friend who was into 3d. He gave me some insight and well... let's say I'd never have the patience to do it...

  • omg its awesome

  • pretty damn awesome

  • wow this vid had around 300 views yesterday :D

  • Damn nice.

I really like the models and the texturing is awsome. The animation is okay, but could use more time. I can't see ur rigging of cause, but it looked good. I really look forward to see the next one.

  • Cool video, be nice if the technology existed so your average joe could do films like this and it didn't take 6 months. :)

  • Part 2 Hell Yeah!!!

The voice acting needed a pick up but mate, We apreciate this. U must of had to give up your day job to do this!!!

  • Looks like a high school project that received a A from their teacher for effort.

  • Very impressive for one person in their free time.

The aurebesh took me a while to figure out because a few letters were mixed up with diagraphs (A, C, G, O, and T).

  • the ppl that disliked this video are probably just jealous.

  • Also you can't compare this to any of the TOR videos we have seen. Those videos are being made by one of the best studios in the world, with some of the most talented artists in the world.

  • To those people talking crap about this, lets see you do it lol. CG isn't easy, you don't just press a few buttons and you have a movie. Sure there are loads of things I can pick out but over all pretty damn good.

  • You made this from Scratch? I can hardly notice it, this is great work for a great artist! Part 2!!!? Can't wait for the game!

  • Ah dont cut it at the best part!!!!

  • Uh, the edges are bad! No, the texturing is almost not perfect! No, aw dangit! I can't find anything wrong with this! Well, besides the fact that he's in space breathing normally, but that's in every star wars movie.

Great job, man. I knew Maya was awesome, but I didn't know normal people could do stuff this good.

  • im pretty impressed phil, nice work!

  • This video rocks. :D

  • Amazing video my friend. AMAZING!

  • Nicely made bud...and others can complain about this all they want, they have no idea the work that goes into making this kind of video. I'm sure the next one will be even better.

  • THUMBS UP & LIKE..

subscribing NOW this video is awesome!

  • Hey, I've got an idea to all the people that are saying this isn't good enough - how about YOU spend half a year doing this and let's see what you come up with - and do this before you go spouting some useless and pathetic attempt to increase your meagre ego somewhat.

Phil, you rock dude, keep up the good work.

  • i cant even begin to imagine the work tht went into this

    simply amazing

  • That was extremely well done don't listen to these other individuals who are trying to bring you down. You have a real future in this and I am looking forward to your next video. Best of luck in the production phase!

  • That was extremely well done don't listen to these other individuals who are trying to bring you down. You have a real future in this and I am looking forward to your next video. Best of luck in the production phase!

  • That was extremely well done. Don't listen to those individuals trying to beat you down Phil that was damn epic and you have a real future in making this type of stuff. I look forward to your next video. Best of luck in the production process!

  • Thanks for all the comments! A few fun facts:

I do work for an animation studio.

Yes animation is somewhat stiff and quirky. I cut back quality so I could finish. If you break it down, there's a lot going on so I had to prioritise.

I used ST cause I aIready had the model. A time saving move. Timeline wasn't a factor in making the video, but I suppose post RotJ would be the time if you're keeping score.

Darth Rasp is a real person! My good friend Rich Rasp whos face I used to build the model.

  • Video description: " ... over 6 months ... ". Holy sh1t dude!! you're a real fan!! :p

Although the characters' movements are not too "real", I must say I'm really impressed with this video. I really enjoyed it. The sound quality was not that good either, but that's probably just a youtube problem.

Lookin forward to more videos. Keep it up!!

  • Omg love that end!!! :D KEEP THIS UP!! Great fan work!!!!!

  • Yes, yes. Compared to the "real Things", this is just a small Fanwork ; )

But first: It is not so really bad. Nice made, i guess...

And second: It's is much much better than no Star Wars "Work" at ALL!!! :D

    And...

    ... the End was epic.

    "PSSCH" ... green Lightsaber appaers ; )

Now this Sithguy will have a hard time, i think ^.^

  • Great video, though this seems to be placed in a time period relevant to the last three Star Wars movies and not TOR.

  • This is great work

  • I can't believe people have even one (1) bad thing to say about this. It's made by one person in his spare-time, and people still complain... it's amazing how stupid the average human-being really is.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

  • Really nice:)

  • Why is the sound so bad?

  • @tragn3 Really? I haven't noticed any sound problems.

  • @ZechsMerquise73 I was playing with sound modulation on his voice. Just chose something that sounded deep with a slight reverb, plus the sound recording my friend gave me was done on his cell phone so it was kinda crap quality anyway. I just rolled with it. My lipsync is a bit off cause of a timeing mistake on the render, and I wasn't gonna re-render, lol.

I was gonna make a pistol, but I cut that corner to save on some modeling time. I just grabbed any blaster sound I could use.

  • Thats sick man! Awesome vid. Movement a bit stiff, but ofv you dont have all the same awesome programmes like bioware. I believe you can make it really far!

  • That was pretty good, gratz on being in ToR weekly update.

  • Like many have said, considering you did this on your spare time is amazing!

  • The way he walks... he looks kinda constipated. Great vid though, dude.

  • You should make somthing taking place immedaitly before the Deceived trailer

  • for someone to make this in there free time it is amazing

  • @ZechsMerquise73 What's so bad about it? Other than the fact that if this is during the GCW there wouldn't be a "Darth Rasp", I don't see anything wrong about it. I don't know much about 3d animation, but the complexity of the objects and characters is astounding for a free time project

  • Comment removed

  • @ZechsMerquise73 Haters gonna hate.

  • @244547 Well, if you want him to get even better then you'll point out more than "hey your good". Alright, I was being too blunt. But I can't stand when people make out like something is better than it is.

  • The awesomeness is strong with this one..

  • Rien d'exceptionnel, j'ai déjà vu mieux dans des projets amateurs.

  • Amazing. With some more practice and training, you could make a living out of 3-D animation.

  • How long did it take to make this?

  • @batboyjhg About 6 months. A few hours a night after work and after my wife went to bed so she wouldn't bother me while I was playing with my "star wars figures", lol!

  • Amazing! Just one thing, though: the sounds are out of sync.

  • The Cool is strong with this one.

  • @bshieldsbb01 The gay is even stronger

  • Animations were a little sluggish, felt like they were all drones pretty much. Beyond that, great work.

  • lol "darth rasp"

  • wow that was super great i cant wait to see more

  • Definitely a great first attempt, the models and sets are vary well done, but the texturing and animation could use some polishing. Near the beginning there are also some issues with shot length and cuts, but overall a great video.

  • Insane. I'd like to see more (:

  • Oh man, that was brilliant. But come on, between you and IMPS is there no longer room in the Star Wars universe for the talentless fan? Has Stick Figure Star Wars truly had its day?

    More please

  • Very impressive.

  • Excellent work man...or should I say

    Darth Vader: Impressive...Most Impressive!
