  • You, Sir, are my hero. Your videos shall get me through year 12 maths.

  • awesome! thanks so much. may i recommend a pop screen to prevent your p's from being so loud(coathanger and nylons work well!)

  • Why is there always a suggested video of some ugly little girl(asking if shes ugly or not)- on any and all of your math vids.......

By the way, does this function make me look fat?

    f(x) = y^2( . Y . )

  • Pat I've been talking to the government and we've decided to clone you and take over the world one classroom at a time

  • @willyshankya ha :) that means i will be useless though!

  • Why isn't there a C?

  • 1 partial fractions video down, 3 more to go. thank adderall for concentration and redbull for energy.

  • @711pyro nothing like modern day drug abuse. do not worry though, all prescription drugs are 100% safe, especially in large amounts over long periods of time.

  • He is such a man. Sticking his constants into those parenthesis. Never has math been so intimate.

  • When will this be used? Algebra or calculus or what? 'Cause I'm just randomly browsing this stuff.

  • @WithASideOfFries Calculus. This part is just basically algebraically manipulating a rational function into smaller rational functions. The main reason for doing this is to be able to integrate it more easily. Instead of integrating the huge rational function we had in the beginning, we integrate smaller easier rational functions.

  • @WithASideOfFries Calculus 2

  • you're the best.

  • Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!

  • i love you

  • you are a complete genius, thank you so much for the amazing explanation! Finally got a right answer after trying for hours on a similar question!

  • 12:03, do you mean 1 degree less than the denom?

  • I am gonna comment on every single video of yours that Ive watched. And it's a lot already but i don't mind telling people HOW AWESOME you are. Patrick made me ace Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus 1 and 2. I FUCKING LOVE YOU DUDE

  • In my 2 years in the university, I barely went to my Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, Calculus 2 classes because my professors were useless. I didn't care because I know Patrick got his stuff figured out. Man, if given the opportunity to get my money back, I would rather pay you than my fucken profs

  • @otownfever PatrickJMT accepts donations........

  • Haha i was still listening.

  • I was working on inverse Laplace transform examples, but had no clue how to do partial fractions. I looked everywhere and nothing made sense until I watched your video. Thanks.

  • aaahhhh!!!!! I UNDERSTOOD IT!!!!!:D

  • partial PAIN!

  • My teacher taught us a simplified version of these methods... but without going through the trouble of teaching the details like you did, I got real confused about why you do certain things. I much prefer your teaching methods. Thanks for going into details.

  • You're handwriting is soooo nice, and the video is even better

  • Can anyone explain to me why we put D/(x+1)^2 and not Dx+E/(x+1)^2 ?

what makes 1/(x+1)^2 a linear term? shouldnt we guess the numerator as one degree less than the denomonoator?

  • Omg dude, THANK YOU.

You explain things so clearly, you save me sooo much time!

  • I don't understand why my professor can't just explain it like you do. Youtube University Ftw

  • @jaysoonii am i on youtube university? they would not let me on before since i am not affiliated with a particular university, except for the university of patrickjmt

  • @patrickJMT HA! Oh that's a good one Pat!

  • Wasn't B+4C+4D =3 instead of =0?

  • @jay1wo yes, please check out the annotations and 10000 other comments on it first

  • THANK YOU!! No words can describe your greatness. No words.

  • @samagee24601 ha, happy to help

  • Long time subscriber, first time commenting just to say keep up the good work man!

  • I'm a Gr8 admirer of your channal...... th way you explain is outstanding ..... I hav been learning 4m your vedios since 3 yrs and keep suggesting my uni frndz...... God bless you...!!

    From Pakistan.

  • @Mursi100 thanks friend ; ) good luck in your studies!

  • Nyc Vid...!!! Better than porn.

  • @dkdonster ummm, probably not! (in regards to the last comment, that is)

  • Without you I'd probably not be graduated!!!! thx a lot!!!!! Much Love from a desperate Belgian girl!!!!! <3

  • @littlekathx happy to help : )

  • I was wondering why you choose systems of equations, rather than equating the coefficients : like X^2 = (A+B)X^2 ect...

  • YOU ARE FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • PatrickJMT is the best tutor on youtube. Thanks for your excellent videos. You've helped so many engineering students graduate!

  • @muppenz thank you very much for the kind words. just doin' my best here and hoping that it helps

  • why is it that at 12:18 there is a C/(x+1) and a D/(x+1)^2 thing?

  • i made the same mistake that u made by making the last equation equal to 0, but the video is really helpful doe!!

  • @patrickJMT I got 0.24 for C... maybe that is becuz you got the '3' bit wrong...

  • Thank-You soo much :)

  • The last equation should be B+4C+4D=3

  • thanks thanls thanks

  • you are a fucking alien, these are unreal-fully helpful

  • Are you human??

  • @shinomora man-machine

  • @patrickJMT but seriously man you rock!, your videos are extremely easy to understand even for non-native English speakers. Keep up the good work!!!!

  • @shinomora thanks : ) i will keep doing what i do

  • the last past can use 4X4 matrix to reduce time

  • so c=6/25 and a=-6/25

  • On 14:28 u made x=-1 now what allowed you to do so and like I get that it made the some of the expressions equal 0 but what are you trying to prove by letting x=-1 and if this was a test i'm not sure if we would be allowed to let x=-1 but if we are then y? Sorry if I dont make much sense

  • @magepurexx13 well, the why part is a bit harder to explain (it is has to do with continuity of functions). check out a calculus text book for this. and if you were taking my calculus 2 test, you could certainly do this.

  • i love ya man but back off the mic, you keep shorting it.

  • So if it was orignally 3 and not 0, i get 25/6 for my C value.... is that correct? just making sure

  • i dont know why my teacher couldnt explain it like that

  • why are you so awesome

  • Thank you thank you thank you. Can you make 'Patrick is my Hero" t-shirts so I can wear them to calculus class? it would give me good math vibes.

  • I think he made a mistake on the the last equation...isnt it suppose to b 3....it was a good lecture...now i can do laplace

  • @shadowx33 yes, there is a mistake in the system of equations when equating coefficients

  • Patrick! You dropped your dx's! Notation! Notation! (to mock math professors everywhere.)

  • @bigsword33 oh no! minus 2 points for me

  • boooo! why do we have to multiply them out

  • Thanks Patrick. You rock keep it up

  • to make our life easier we can use matrix row reduction to solve set of equations

  • this was amazing and helpful man thank you sooooo much man

  • Thank you for these videos!!!

  • Wow, well done...I am officially a fan. You explain exactly what students need to hear...crazy concept

  • Have you ever considered becoming a teacher/professor? You should, you have a knack at explaining things crystal clear.

  • @HighFashun i taught for a while at college/university level and will never go back

  • @patrickJMT why never go back?

  • @ClownDatWalk 1) sucky pay 2) many apathetic students who bitch, bitch, bitch.

  • @patrickJMT sucky pay even teaching at an university? o.o and i dont see a lot of those kind of students at U of T, unless you were teaching at a college. But anyhow, teaching on youtube is actually the best, no bitchy students and you get to help millions more (including me) so I thanks you ^^

  • @ClownDatWalk well, sucky pay for me as i have no phd. do not get me wrong, i loved teaching and met more awesome people than i ever would have otherwise. but there were certainly some people that always made it 'not so fun'

  • @patrickJMT ic ic, so is what you are doing now just for fun and to help people? or are you getting paid for doing all these videos? because i could certainly imagine this to be a paid job.

  • @ClownDatWalk for the first year and first few hundred videos, it was simply just something to do; then google started its partner program so i do now get a cut of the ad revenue that google makes from my vids. it was never my intent to make money from the videos, just a nice opportunity that came up along the way. thanks to their program, i am able to cut back on my tutoring job which is why i have been able to post many more videos this past year

  • @patrickJMT I assume you to be very relaxed since this opportunity came up, and you're doing this with your interest and talent which does not seem like you're in pain of making videos. Maybe that is why your videos are filled with enthusiasm and able to help us more than any other youtuber can (at least that's what i think).

  • @patrickJMT howcome?

  • thank you :)

  • Patrick, I'm so glad to have these videos to help me! I've always been weak at math, but am pulling an A in my Calc II class, and it's all thanks to you, no joke! THANKS!!

  • partial fractions = H-E-double hockey sticks and you've turned them into a cakewalk!

Thank you thank you thank you!

  • hey, do you do Cal 3? if you do I will take it next semester lol. seriously tho

  • I can't thank you enough...Keep asking myself "where has he been all my math life"

    you are the BESTEST

  • um... for that second problem?? why did you right that (x+1) then (x+1)squared.... i mean the 3 fractions?? why is it 3 fractions?? and howd u get AX+B on that numerator on the 1st fraction??

  • My school is ripping me off... My calc professor is a smart guy, but he just gets pissed when I try to rewind him and watch his lectures over and over again when I don't understand them the first time.

  • I don't understand why you put Ax+B over x²+4, could you explain it to me please? and thanks for this video, its very helpful!!

  • thanks buddy !

    :-)

  • for the denominator of "D" why did you put (x+1)^2? i thought we already factorized it and got x+1 and x+1 which would go to C, and D respectebly.

im lost help me plz :o

  • @tadm123 hye there! did you get the answer already? i haven't get any idea of this problem

  • Great video! Enjoyed the system of equations for solving for the constant values, my teacher recommended matrices for solving for them which seems a lot more complicated to me.. Thanks man

  • thank you for this!! I will definitely be recommending these videos to my classmates

  • Bro you are the man... seriously... a lifesaver... you should have a god-damn cereal box, where little children eat bite size versions of you to become a genius

  • I can't thank you enough, Patrick!

  • man, this makes so much more sense.... why cant the profs explain it like this?

  • Yes, I have a test tomorrow 9/17, I hadn't a clue what I Partial Fractions were. The Teacher rushes through his lectures because we only have 50 minute per periods. This has really helped me grasp the material. Thank You!

  • thank you man you make it look so easy

  • amazing stuff!

  • yeah same here too in the Philippines you are a LIVING HERO!!!

before i'm thinking to how to pass the exam after watching lots of your video lessons now I'm thinking to how am my going to perfect the exam.

    tnx a lot patrick!!

  • Patrick, you are seriously my hero. I had a 77 in my calc 2 class. After discovering your videos I brought it up to a 92, letting my keep my 4.0 GPA. I have recommended your videos to all of my classmates and the whole class's grades went up. You have no idea how much help you have been to math students around the whole world. We are forever indebted to you.

  • @avianbc glad the videos helped everyone : ) patrickjmt in every classroom! : )

  • @avianbc ahhahaha i have a 63 and my current gpa is 2.8... do you think theres still hope?

  • WTF? we need system of equations in this!?!? it said this no where in my book :'( my proff didnt even go over that wthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. now i have to go learn that and my midterm is in freggin 12 horus FML. lol

  • @lmfaowtfinghell i bet a million dollars it said so in your book, on numerous different pages.

  • @patrickJMT LOL yah you were right :( this is why people shouldnt study the day before LOLOL thanks so much thooo!

  • @patrickJMT could use a matrix to solve? would that be any faster for longer quadratics?

  • you're the man...i wish u taught every single of my college classes. keep it up.

  • thanks! You just saved me about an hour of head ache, my book just totally glosses over this step. So annoying, goes into to excruciatingly unnecessary detail about finding the LCD then skips this step entirely and the next step magically appeared. One line was all I needed! Thanks so much man!

  • This is perfect.

    I love you.

  • I have the feeling that some people who watch these videos will make important contributions to mathematics someday with you being the one who unknowingly lead them to that direction.

  • thanks so much. Really helped out. Keep it up!

  • thank you for saving my final exams

  • Thank you for this video

  • Im a math tutor, and i used this video to learn! THank yoU!

  • you deserve an award for what you do.

  • @xjustsweet biggest geek ever award for me!

  • When are you going to do the primary problem...to do the integration????

  • @12:10...it lasts over 16mins !!

  • Your name shuld be god

  • this guy is the best, i can understand it so easily, thnx man, keep it up

  • I've never had a math prof who speaks real english. unreal, youre a hero.

  • hhaha.... so true.

  • @andrewbellini do you go to the University of Wisconsin by chance??? All of the math department is asian...

  • Patrick: Thanks for all this videos they really help me to understand my math class. Thanks for the note pointing the mistake. Can you do the same in the video on your website? Again thanks.

  • lol w8 i get it XD

  • Patrick, Thank you...

  • omg..thank you so much!!i finally understand partial fraction!!!

  • You are one of the supporter to spread the love around the world by contributing your knowledge to everyone. Man I wish there is a way to vote you as one of the very few people who do help million people around the globe thru the internet. I just wish you all the best and success in your life. God bless you xoxo

  • Thanks, but wouldn't this be a hell of a lot easier if you put the equations in a matrix and reduced it? If nothing else it looks a lot cleaner and you're less likely to make a mistake.

  • On the second example, you have c/x+1 + d/(x+1)^2. Isn't that supposed to be c/x+1 + d/x+1?

  • he didn't catch that one... -_-

  • wuu tnx alot! ^_^

  • Dude,

You are kick ass at explaining these things. A real gift.

I had no idea what the hell this book was saying.

I will donate to your site when I get the chance.

    K

  • Very helpful...keep it up!

  • Thank you!

  • u forgot to set the constants = 3, but i dont blame u.. huge problem, mistakes happen.. thx for the vids!

  • ya! mistake!!

  • @patrickJMT hello Patrick we all understand when you do mistakes even the greatest mathematician have done mistakes but we can call it " good mistakes"

Next time we should use matrix to solve linear equations with 4 variables , very difficult to do it by the simultanous equation system ,soory for bad spelling

  • You are the man..

    //from sweden

  • my teacher did this kind of problem in 6 minutes and lef me and the class hanging in the dust. Your the man

  • omg, wat a teacher u have! ^_^

  • isn't the constants equal to 3 ? at 20.00

  • Thank you, my teacher can't teach, you're a life saver.

  • Thank you for your help you are great in evreysense of it.

My remark is on the constant part 3 might have been omited?

  • you can still use the trick here, it is much faster and easier.

    Let x=-1, you get D=3/5

    Let x=2i, you get A=-6/25 and B=-9/25

Let x=-B/A=-3/2, then you get C=6/25

I can finish this in like 2 minutes

  • but if you use 2i you're no longer working in R, so if your theacher tells you to solve in R you can't use it

  • tried solving and i think it's A= -6/25, B= -9/25, C= 6/25, and D = 3/5 for the system of equations.

  • hi, your videos are the best! but i have a question for this one. At 19:43, you said 'And lastly there IS a constant on the left side(3)..." so shouldn't the fourth equation be B+4C+4D=3? Sorry in advance if it's my bad. Thanks again!
