  • 0_o Awesome!

  • Can you tell me if the # 4710 is gone? Last time I saw her she was dead on a siding in Elmdale, Michigan in the mid 90's.... I said my last goodbyes and took photos of her on that fateful day, any chance she is still around? What a pleasure to catch those units here in Michigan, thank you Canada!

  • Unfortunetly, 4710 was retired in May 1995...

  • Thanks Alex...... That was probably the last trip it took when I filmed her, SNIF...

  • allright! cool! my short line railroad has some of these puppies!

  • nice

  • 5/5 Alex pis Bravo pour la Mlw (Alco)

  • Merci!

  • OK right, also Minnisota central has one but is Caterpillar powered which brings the total to 4 perhaps,4711 & 4743 are still running & 4723 is preserved somewhere in Quebec, but i dont know the 4th one if there is a 4th one as i cant find mention of one at the Canadian museum other than what you have listed.

  • OK, got the Trackside Guide out.

CP MLW M636 #4723 is on display in Farnham, Quebec.

Exporail has CP MLW M630 #4563.

Exporail has CP MLW M640m #4744.

MNNR MLW M636 #71, (ex. CP 4711). Still in operation as of June 29th, 2007.

DL MLW M636 # 3643, (ex. CP 4743). Still in operation as of April 2nd, 2008.

    That's all I know about.

Exporail also has #4237 as you know and cab control #1100, both CP C424's.

  • CP4500 IS WNYP 630

    CP4573 IS WNYP 631

  • I rode behind the 4237 shown behind the 4563 here,i was lucky to get a ride on January 13 1996 out of ignace to kenora on a train...the last thing i expected was to get to the station to find 3 C424's & a GP38-2 pulling an empty grain train west to winnipeg,so i rode in 4207 behind the 4237,the best photo i have ever taken in my life is of the 4237 puring away in Kenora, just when i thought they were gone, there they were, what a ride it was,i am glad to see the 4237 intact like an old friend.

  • Thanks! The museum will eventually have 4237 operational...

  • Do they not have a couple of 4700's preserved as well? I am sure the M640 4744 must be still be intact, the unique beastly thing that it was! And they must have one M636 as i believe out of the last 6 running in Aug. of 1995 2 were preserved & one is still running on a short line,in Kenora we were givin the 4718 but it was too big for the preservation display track as we already had a caboose on it so it was traded for a fire damaged SW1200RS instead & they scrapped the 4718! Damb!

  • Well, I beleive there is a M636, along with the M630 and the C424, and I know for sure that the 4744 is at the museum. One M636 is on display somewhere else in Quebec, another is on the Delaware Lakawanna.

  • KEEP THOSE THINGS RUNNING CP!!

  • It's really a museum piece.

  • Still, I would love to see them running into 2009-2010!

  • Ce vidéo est parfait Alex.

    Je te donne 100%.

    C'est merveilleux.

  • Merci!

  • Bravo Alex

  • Merci!

  • Ahh, that sounds beautiful

  • Sure is, I wished I had my good video camera with me though.

  • Wow thats awesome, 2 alcos in cp colours!

I hope they put those babies bakc in use, i know of one unit i saw a video of on here of an MLW unit in early 2008 at Mac Tier in toronto, but dont know otherwise.

  • yeah, the second will be put into running order soon, and the M-630 is started at the museum every once and a while. Last late summer, it was in excursions in New Brunswick.
