  • R they Aussies or Kiwis?

  • @ThePayola123 About as Aussie as one can get. Your not going to hold that against us are you? :-)

  • God bless Paul Ekmen

  • @aone122 Reading Micro Expressions and reading Facial Features are 2 different things. The first reads the unconscious responses of true emotions (and not just lie detection); which Paul Ekman did the research on. They tell you what a person is feeling right now. Reading Features is a totally different skill. Features tell you how a person consciously prefers to react; How they are likely to behave in any given situations, now or in the future. Two separate skills that work well together

  • @FaceProfiler sorry for the misspelling of Ekman. Another thing Paul did facial expressions as well that is how micro expressions were found. "God bless Paul Ekman" was not belittle or insult. I was merely amazed how from one man that we can literally study and figure out lies and deceit. I'm sorry if in anyway this offended you.

  • @aone122 No offence taken at all as I agree with you. and your right, Paul’s work came from Charles Darwin’s writing on facial expressions. Paul is the top authority on expressions; both macro and micro expressions. Many people confuse facial features with facial expressions; which is what I endeavour to get across to everyone. The features are “permanent” indicators of personality while the expressions are temporary indicators of moods. Does that explain the difference? Thanks for your comments

  • Are these people Australian? Because their accent sounds Australian...

  • @lollipants1 Yes,. Is that important or is the benefit this knowledge can bring to school children and those looking for direction more important?

  • @lollipants1 yes they are

  • I see what you mean now thank you very much for the quick response!

  • @NorCalMediGrower Always glad to help. Check out the Facebook page "Reading Faces" you can post any other questions you have there too.

  • How do you tell if someone is lying if they think that what they are saying is true without knowing it's a lie?

  • @NorCalMediGrower If someone believes what they are saying to be true then by definition they are not lying. Expressions are only different to what a person is saying is when they themselves know they are lying.

  • Nice. A how to guide to autists.

  • @Abramisen Being able to read personalities allows you to see someone as they really are. How many people are incorrectly diagnosed by "Health Professionals" just because they don't fit our education systems or other peoples expectations?

  • Dude is he like the real life Cal Lightman???

  • LOL you're not like normal people! you're asian

  • @OrganicKing No, not Asian. When one reaches the point that they discount new possibilities (think they know everything) that person has then reached their level of incompetence, so I’m someone who just keep an open and enquiring mind. A student of life

  • Okay :) I have been watching people and watching their gestures and facial expressions and when I ask a question i realized lies are usually more complex and people usually get mad, raise their voice, show contempt or anger or even guilt and turn away or cross their arms in self defensive postures is this correct?

  • @x9xsarax3x I like all professionals will never say yes or no to those question. We have to see the situation because of all other things going on at the same time. Depends on how the questions were asked and how quickly the person gets angry. Are other people listening in? What’s the class structure between the people involved. The more anger the more likely something isn’t right. But are they lying – that requires more observation. (continued)

  • @x9xsarax3x (continued) If a person normally stands with their arms folded then that means nothing. The question should be what’s going on when they unfold their arms or is there a shift in the way they fold them. Look for variations. This is where most people go wrong. You wont learn from just reading books and watching videos. This is why we teach, so that people sift out the crap thats out there in both books and videos.

  • @x9xsarax3x Love your questions by the way. Come and LIKE the page at readingfaces. com .au or facebook. com/FaceProfiler#!/ReadingFaces and other people can join in the conversations

  • I got a 96% on the METT Advanced, and expert in reading microexpressions, does anybody know how I range among other people on this? It took me 10 minutes to complete the course, and I got a 100% on the Pre Test, let me know, thanks!

  • @x9xsarax3x Most people can reach that performance in a short time because the full focus is on the computer image – there are no conversations or distractions going on. In real life there is much more going on, even the best of us will drop to around 70%. From all of the information taken in by our 5 senses our conscious minds process only a minute fraction of the information. In real life you have to hear what’s being said at the time of the micro expression.

  • @x9xsarax3x (continuation of my reply below) Micro Expressions mean nothing if you’re not seeing them in context with other indicators and verbals. The way to increase the % is by adding body language and using questioning techniques. Watch my other videos and check out the eBooks as they come on line and you’ll see the bigger picture

  • Paul Ekman was one of the leading people in these studies. Go look him up as well. If you like Lie To Me, Lightman is actually based on Paul Ekman.

  • @PunxyRose Actually Paul is not one, he is THE leading expert on facial expressions and the Ekman Group is where I did my first training in this one area of study. Micro expressions are the unconsciously leaked indicators while reading facial features indicate how a person consciously behave and it’s another completely different (but complimentary) skill. I’m the only person you’ll find who has brought them, Body Language and NLP under the one umbrella of HPR. Check out my other videos.

  • You have an Australian accent

    Are you An aussie?

  • @yassino08 Yes. I'm located in New South Wales, Australia

  • @FaceProfiler Patrick Jane in real life! He's Aussie XD

  • Body language and micro expressions are unconscious emotional responses to situations that occur in the moment, they are not human traits. They are indicators of truth in a situation. Lying is a matter of choice and poor values and not of personality.Facial features on the other hand recognise personality traits and should not be used to prejudge if one is lying. Having said that, in any situation you should use all of the skills of Human Pattern Recognition to understand other people fully.

  • @alphainparis As all my other videos point out; body language gives away what’s being felt in the moment while micro expressions tell you that there is concealment. They should be used together to get a more accurate read. Don’t make the mistake that BL and micro expressions just tell you that someone is lying. They only tell you that something isn’t right through the incongruence between what is said and what’s actually going on. You then have to ask the right questions to uncover the truth

  • @alphainparis Reading human traits tells you how the individual is most likely to behave in given situations – it’s not about detecting lies, it is about determining personalities. Please don’t use facial features when looking for liars or you will get it wrong every time.

  • While facial features may not indicate one is a liar, they will indicate whether one has a predisposition to lying. They will also tell you how one is likely to behave in certain situations, as will body types, ie., endomorph, ectomorph, mesomorph. These things are the foundation of determining human traits. Next would come microexpressions, body language, etc. . When attempting to determine human traits, ALL known factors must be considered--not just a few.

  • There's a distinct difference between body language and determining personality traits. A subject's body language enables us to determine if one is uncomfortable with a question, which may indicate an attempt to protect a secret. The study of facial structure is known as "physiognomy" and is a genetic tell-all regarding personality types. A good liar can fool even the best lie detector, but facial structure can't be changed, enabling an observant examiner to get a line on the subject.

  • Human Trait Recognition is NOT physiognomy and it’s not just genetics. It’s both nature and nurture and not just one or the other. Many features DO change depending on long term repeated behaviours. You will understand more when you read my eBook at amazon.com/dp/B006B5SB0O

  • @FaceProfiler I didn't say human trait recognition was physiognomy. I said the study of facial structure as it would pertain to trait recognition was physiognomy. And yes, features do change on long term repeated behavior, but the trained eye can associate the changes with personality traits. Re genetics: The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Facial structure can be used as a method of determining personality traits. I'm sure your ebook is very informative.

  • @alphainparis I agree with your last sentence. That’s why I developed Human Pattern Recognition which looks at both unconscious leaked and conscious indicators as well as questioning skills.

  • @alphainparis Body language and micro expressions are unconscious emotional responses to situations that occur in the moment, they are not human traits. They are indicators of truth in a situation. Facial features on the other hand should not be used to prejudge if one is lying. Lying is a matter of choice and values and not of personality. View my other 16 videos and read my ebook on reading people and you will see the distinction.

  • It's reminiscent of Lie to me ! :)

  • @WhiteFang275 The art precedes the TV Series. Lie to me is a dramatisation of an 1872 finding brought into academic understanding by Paul Ekman in 1967 against the oposition of the "experst" of the day. Reading micro expression is only one of four skills in the Art of Reading People. :)

  • Facial features are a combination of our parents features and part of our DNA. So some behaviour patterns are passed on from our parents (nature) and others that are developed in direct relationship to how we respond to our environment (nurture). Above everything else we have choice so no matter where the traits come from ..we are still responsible for our behaves. My eBook “The Face - How to get your ideal career to match your personality” will explain more when it goes up on Amazon this month

  • Apart from the fake/insincere interviewing...You say that our facial features are a product of our ancestral reactions. Did I understand that correctly?

If so are you proposing that our behaviour is actively adjusting our genetic code that will be passed on to our children?

  • @TheCJers I hope the above info helps. You will find more info in my eBook (to be published this coming week on Amazon). Also have a look at readingfaces . com . au for more info and to join in conversations there
