I think a distinction needs to be made between a slewfoot that occurs when two players are battling for position, as was the case here, and when an upright, unsuspecting player is slewfooted from behind.

Breaking your stick over the goal post in Tampa then throwing your broken stick across the ice... Look up JAck Skille's slewfoot on Carlo Coliaicovo, it was way worse than this and only got a 2 minute penalty, though that one was probably suspendable.

@tnyrb444b that slewfoot on niskanen wasn't bad as all, that was way too large of a suspension. I think the poster slewfoot would be dan boyle's one on semin int eh olympics. This one wasn't near that. Crosby barely nicked him in the heel and didn't body slam him super hard. Look up JAck Skille's slewfoot on Carlo Coliaicovo, it was way worse than this and only got a 2 minute penalty, though that one was probably suspendable.

@tnyrb444b and i knew the slew footing penalty carried a match penalty, but it does not automatically warrant a suspension so posting that was just telling me information i already know

@jipmip2332 Evrryone sees the slew foot, which is a super dirty play, and that takes away from the original harmless penalty. Watch at 0:35 and you see Callahan stick his arm out and try to get in his way.

@jipmip2332 That's what he was called for and it's the reason Crosby retaliated with the slew foot. Just because Callahan didn't knock Crosby over doesn't mean he didn't interfere.

It was indeed a terrible call, however, I hate how the media makes everything into a 'controversial' story these days. Let's look at the incident from 27 different angles to ascertain whether or not it was a dirty play. 27 angles wasn't sufficient!
