Not smart. Alot of people think it just burns tires and wears brakes but you're revving it and the engine needs to suck in cold air from the outside. If you were on the road you would be. But you're in your garage. Notice on dyno vids they put a big fan in the front of the car? They do it for a reason. Ever wonder why people who drag their cars at drag races blow their motor all the time? They're doing a burnout to warm up the tires for 15 seconds straight. Sick car though nonetheless.

an engine doesn't need cold air from the outside for a burnout. know what most intake temps are anyway? well over 100 degrees.

they put fans in front of dyno cars to cool the engine faster between dyno runs, and to "simulate" air from the highway.

people blow their motors at tracks all the time because they are revving at 6 grand constantly and did a shit job of building their motor.

plus what is this "all the time shaneganz?" most engines are pretty reliable.

When you build a 9 second dragster, even with forged strong parts, all you do with the car is drag race. They WILL blow. And it is bad to do that. Go start your car, and just revv the engine going 0 miles an hour and it'll blow on ya. Some cars take longer than others but it also will happen. Thats why when someone babies their car or takes it a little easier it lasts longer.

What the hell do you know, Pontiac (used to) makes one of the highest revving big blocks. With the right pistons/heads/set up you can take them up to 6500RPM easily. Just because you can only handle the 350 version. I do give you credit for using the Q-jet.

@anorexic091006, the first thing to do is figure out exactly what equipment your car has. Pontiac's are easy able to hit 400 hp. My yellow ta, in this video. Has a 1971 455 HD engine. its board 50 over, with JE pistons. i can push 6500RPM in a heartbeat. Get good race quality connecting rods. Port and polish heads, hooker headers, all msd ignition, rpm performer intake, match it to the heads perfectly, atleast a 750 demon wth mechanical secondaries, pay attentionto the head work. My TA hit 540HP

Its an auto w/shift kit/slapstick and a 2500 stall. i have freeway gears, possi 342. No offical track time, but have put away many 13secound cars. low to mid 12s, but i have been up to 150mph and still pulling away from a new C7 vet. DYNO at 540HP 560LBS of TQ
