  • I know English and Vermontese and German and Bavarian Dialect and you make a valid point because in the case of my grandmother from Bavaria it is more obvious in differences...

this is so valid and true....

  • Thanks for the explanations in such an articulate southern grammar. Loved it!

  • Lemonette: I'm fortunate enough to be generally known as a poliglot, but the

Southern idiomatic twists of sintax and proxody makes it very hard for me to even contemplate the idea of learning Southern.

    Well done, keep it up!

  • yeah being bilingual gives u more opportunities

  • According to this video, I am trilingual! woot woot! Should I put that on my résumé ?

  • Hey, Lanette! This just cracked me up no end! I'm bilingual, too. Born in Mobile, AL and grew up there and in Texas. Can't believe some people didn't get that you were being funny, but then some people can be dumb as a door knob at times.

  • you're so cuten& funny

  • an old buddy of mine from the south had this entire conversation where I didn't understand a word..

dunno if it's like a joke or something.. anyway it started like this:

"yaeh yeh?" or spelled out: "you ate yet?"

ever heard that one? maybe you know the rest of it.

    peace!

  • Its called HUMOR.

  • God bless your sense of humor :) my first language is not English, and when i met a couple from the South, it was very hard for me to understand them, i guess now i speak 3 languages! They are one of the nicest couples I've met, by the way (they say folks from the South are all nice). Keep up the good videos :)

  • Oh my word! I almost peed on my self! I am also bilingual. I also have mastered the Southern language, I live in AL and have a Pig just 1 mile from my house and shop all the Blue Light specials at the Kmart all the time! We have a common bond! The love of our lovely language! LOL :) I am gonna send this here video to all my kin folk ! Love ya!

  • eso no es ningun "idioma". estupida fea idiota.

  • You're another.

  • gorda asquerosa. odio a las gringas como vos.

  • your mama

  • oye gorda asquerosa, habla mal de mi no mi mama, que por seguro no es una gorda asquerosa y fea como tu. sos igual que ellos.

  • lemonette, please forgive my comments. somehow I got you mixed up with another person here insulting me and the spanish language. I have no problem with you at all. have a good day and once again I apologize for my error.

  • Thanks for apologizing. I try my best not to insult anybody. Life is tough enough without having to fight each other. Glad to know that I have a new friend! :)

  • Your making southerners seem extremely mute of intellectual prowess of the english language.

  • Is English your second language? Because that sentence is just WRONG. :)

  • I like it when you speak like that

  • Love my Lemonette =]

  • Haa haa!

    You are gonna die soon!

  • haha you are right behind me!

  • Good one Auntie Lanette!

    *high fives*

  • Yual ow tat ifin i wernt atached i wod be after hucin up wit youall

  • Hi Lemonette! What I'm curious about of is:

How would you compress this 04:17 min,-vid in Southern? ;]

    ♥ mako ;]

  • This is one of the funniest things I've ran across on Youtube. You remind me of a lot of older women I know in West Virginia and Kentucky.

  • Fluency. Not Fluinity. It's fluency.

  • Its southern...

    Sheesh...

    Youdamn annoying grammar nazis...

  • :D Sorry. I'm usually not a grammar nazi. Sorry.

  • I'm confused since at no time did I say fluinity. Were you speaking to someone else, or did you watch a different video?

  • Really? I thought you said fluinity. . . Well. Whatever. It's good to speak to you lemonette. :D

  • maybe I was nasal that day...or maybe I said fluidity, I probably need to watch the video again, but I am at work and can't right now. There is no telling what I said!

  • OK. That's alright. I love your videos, though! :D

  • Yes, I believe you said, "while bothe languages have a certain fluidity." Sounds right to me. LOL

  • Your too funny!

  • Woooooooooo you were dang good.....lol

  • you're awesome! hahaha

  • ahahaha i love this. =]

  • M. Pretty funny. I'm actually trilingual (almost) speak english, almost perfect french, and some japanese.

  • I love this!

  • LOL! Southern!

  • That is a scream, Lemonette. I will be forwarding the link to this one, for sure. I live in the South now although I am a born and bred Yankee. I really enjoy your videos.

  • Lemonette, whats your thought on the origination of "Valley Girl" talk. I'm from California and used to live in the San Fernando Valley, very well known for the movie, "Valley Girl". Where did that mumbojumbo come from??? Like, Gosh, its like, totally mind-boggling....haha

  • Lord what would we do without the Piggly Wiggly or "The Pig" as you say. Now that I've moved from Alabama to Atlanta, I'm lost with my Piggly Wiggly because as you know, Publix just ain't the same and they don't have those southern ingredients like cracklins!

  • ohhh yeahhh! every time I went to visit grandma and grandpa in North Carolina, we would go to the Piggly Wiggly and get cracklins!

  • I followed Jinxie228 here. I'm glad I did; I adore this video! Southern language flows off the tongue like warm butter.

  • I had me an lol at your triple chin.

  • Why, thank you. It is always a pleasure to have someone bring that to my attention. Sometimes I forget about my appearance totally, and just enjoy my life. Thanks for the opportunity to amuse you. God bless and keep you.--Lanette

  • Lemonette, you are the reason I do not watch tv anymore. You are funny as hell! And with NO commercials. Keep it up. I do not miss my television. I am diggin youtube, though.

  • you are funny

Bawstin: Yea! That friggin video is wicked friggin awesome, guy! Yaw wicked cool.

  • *snicker*

  • OMG How many people Know about going to the Piggly Wiggly? I laughed so hard at this video! Thanks for the great post! I'nm bilingual too! BTW for the people who have no idea what the Piggly Wiggly is, Bless your heart!
