  • its difficult to do this on an unplugged electric guitar

  • @WindWalker940 That's quite probable - there's little or no volume from an unplugged electric, and harmonics are even quieter than ordinary notes. My advice is - plug in! :-)

  • @HenfieldWill and to make it more fun, adding distortion :)

  • 7 minutes to "teach" that basic shit, that should have been like 45 seconds

  • @pacisablo I look forward to seeing your 45 second video...

  • Can I play harmonics on any acoustic guitar? Because I can't do it on my guitar!! :(

  • @octaviomedcoel You should be able to play them on any guitar. Start by placing a finger over the 3rd string at the 12th fret - but just rest on the string. Then, as you pluck the string, lift the fretting finger off - the harmonic should sound. Just practice... :-)

  • Very good video, well explained

    Thanks

  • Thank you so much!! This video was extremely helpful for me on the road to one day become a guitarist.

  • thanks so much! I now am able to play harmonics!! I have watched other videos but this video make so much sense than the other ones!

  • Thanks Will!

  • Interesting

  • Thanks ever so much for explaining this technique. I've seen so many people tune their guitars this way but they haven't been the teacher that you are and therefore were unable to explain in an understandable manner. Take it from one teacher (English, not guitar!), you are a good teacher. :)

  • Glad it made sense! :-)

  • Great, and useful video, Will. Many thanks! I think it will help me.

  • i loved It !!! Congratulations

  • thisis the first lesson I've seen on harmonics although I've seen guitarists play them many times. Thanks for explaining the technique., and I hope you enjoy the festive season

  • Very useful, thank you very much.

I think you played Freight train like that in the video with the several variations.

  • I did indeed - and you can see it played there with the guitar chords showing in the left hand. :-)
