Alamar is masterful, and the music is great. Alamar is a tour de force! Congratulations to Pedro Ganzalez-Rubio, a gifted director. Finding these unusual personages, and portraying them with verite are already strikes of exceptional talent in the making. Que Viva Mexico, and all its wonderful artists.
This - in my opinion - is where our civilized minds split. Reading through a lot of reviews and YT comments - finding the love and disappointment for this film proved to me once more that there basically are two ways of general feelings toward this picture: ...(cont)....
...(cont)...Those who choose the life of plenty, materialistic fulfilment in a world of structure and safety, and others who let their minds play with the thought of unconditional freedom and satisfaction. I enjoyed this Film in its absolute and infinite potential to inspire and leave you to choose a side..... yours Blanquita :-)
Beautiful film that I will recommend to all my friends. What a lovely portrayal of father and son. There are so many unforgettable moments. Natan getting used to swimming with a mask, the father and son training the bird, the time spent between three generations. It was wonderful to watch.
Jorge is a close personal friend of ours. We first met Natan when he was just turning 2. The true beauty of this film lies in it's simplicity and unscripted truths. This father and son are as film portrays. While some details have been fictionalized, much of it is truth. Jorge and Roberta remain close friends and she has not moved back to Italy. However, Roberta and Natan visit her family in Italy often. Jorge and Natan also travel often to Chiapas to visit his family.
with a glass of wine on a large screen, the waves, the reality, the slow pace, the view, the scenery, the little boy, LIFE !.....beautiful and not forced
what i see, is the history of a italian woman who who got a son with this mexican fisherman, after a while she choose to go back to italy ,because after some time she realize that she and her son will no see any future there,,he looks like a poor fishermen son,,and the son has to go to italy i assume for better future instead to stay in this south of mexico paradise,it seem like she does not see any future with her partner,,so the boy stay days with him and his grandparent who is a poor fisherman
@citationxbjfv i think it's not because she sees no future there for her son... but because sometimes no matter how much we love someone, it's not enough because cultural differences are sometimes huge, so she decides to go back to her natal country, with all the things she expects from a lifestyle. (sorry for my english...) kisses
