  • I'm 16 and I know pretty much every rock song from the 70s and 80s and listening to Q live just damn near blew me away.

  • I miss the days of being able to buy a CD and loving all the songs after the first listen. Think about the releases that dropped during the late '80s: G'n'R/Appetite for Destruction, Def Leppard/Hysteria, Warrant/Cherry Pie, Poison/Open Up and Say Ahh, Skid Row/Skid Row, Queensryche/Operation: Mindcrime & Empire, Bon Jovi/Slippery When Wet & New Jersey, Metallica/...And Justice For All; the list goes on and on. For me, there will never be a time when music is consistently that good ever again.

  • does anyone else think it a bit...i dunno shitty? that the only people they had to thank was the execs and such at the record label and not say...the fans who helped get you there?

  • Wow are these guys good live or what? near perfection.

  • soil...the OP:Mindcrime tour was the best show I have ever seen. It would have blown your mind...epic greatness..(I'm 42 and still love Q)

  • @wllstl AMEN to THAT! I'm 54 and have actually started working with rock bands as a promoter only within the last 3 years. I already have a few big names as acquaintences! This is a dream come true! I hope to have the opportunity one day to meet these guys! Queensryche is my most favorite band of all time! My best friend was a professional artist known in several countries, and she met Geoff Tate. She told me she was speechless. He's awesome!

  • Even though I choke on the pain of the thought this song reminds me of the beautiful times with my first love, forever she will be in my heart and forever I will hold utmost respect for the memories! Queensryche I've been listening to as a young child,I'm 22 now and never will I see myself stop listening to them they hold a meaning more than any band!

  • I'm glad that Queensrhyce didnt give into idiot record execs who wanted to use the band get famous then drop them after 5 years..this band has staying power and with Geoff Tates 3 octave range , can just make a normal song and turn it into something we can feel. Love it. 30 years and still rocking, I hope they keep their music focus.

  • I remember this! I recorded it and watched it over and over. A few months ago I went home and was digging through my dad's house looking for it. Thank You for posting this !!

  • Listening to this causes so many emotions :) I absolutely love it...but am so upset that I wasn't alive when they were in their prime. Geoff Tate, what a voice! And the band in general: Amazing!

  • I <3 Micheal Kaimen(<-- sp?) too btw, sucks that he's gone... D'=

  • God his voice is soooo hott & awesome at the same time xD, I love Queensryche. The backing vocals have epic quality btw ;D

  • that was great...thanks!

  • Class... something quite rare in Today's Music .

  • so they play\\ed the MYV's twice? Cool

  • @hero7D This is actually from the Billboard awards show in 91. Phil Collins hosted it. Channel 11 ( Fox) showed this. They later included this in their setlist after it became a hit.

  • sometimes there was so many rock bands you didnt know wich one to listen!

  • I have met these guys...Tate's voice is second to NONE! Fucking KILLER live! This band has my heart!

  • I sure miss these guys...

  • not many bands can sound this good live, fucking faultless

  • bravo .............Queensryche

  • Anyone hear that annoying sound in the background? Sounds like someone tuning a guitar or a piano or some shit.

  • @mrbig - thanks bro!!

  • I've seen them a lot! Man they rule! Tate's voice is of the hook!

  • They freakin rule!

  • Daddy tell us a story. Ok kids gather round - once upon a time there was a cable channel called MTV that played Good MUSIC by talented MUSICIANS. So sorry to tell you it died and came back to life as a tv series channel that occassionally presented ENTERTAINERS with little or no musical background. Waaaaa why daddy why?? The holy dollar rules everybody's lives

  • @Queens9999

Man that was the most cool comment I've seen in years! Back in 89 MTV was amazing! All the West/East coast hard rock bands were on top! I really miss those dayz/@!

  • o m g

  • that man is fucking hott!!!

  • @foreverinbluejeans63- ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! Freakin' amazingly perfect eye candy with an amazing voice too!!! Def a dream!!!!!

  • My favorite song of all time.

"Laughter looks like crying with no sound,

Raindrops taste like tears, without the pain."

  • the drummer and guitarist are vegans i wish all musicians cared about murdered animals for humans taste buds!

  • @normalguyable God gave us Human domaine over animals and the purpos of Cattle is for Milk and Beef.

I do not hold it against them for them being Vegans that is there right to be as it is my right to be a meat eater.

  • music today is so fucked up...you just dont listen and see this talent anymore.

  • bellissima song!!! grandi!!

  • This was not the 80's. This is from the 1991 MTV music awards. Queesryche will never be as cool as they were with Chris DeGarmo in the band. Michael Wilton is good, but every other guitar player they have had since DeGarmo can't play DeGarmo's solos well

  • @johnnylove6 It's Billboard Award. Anyway, yes, now not as cool as they were with Chris DeGarmo.

  • They use to be great, but their new stuff has lost its rock feel! I wish Geoff Tate would find that inner teen rocker in him again.

  • Dokken447, please, I meant no offense to the Fab Four. I have one hell of a collection. I love the Beatles. This was just my comparison of Queensryche to them. I worship them both as well as others I am putting them on the same pedistal.. Rock on Dokken447!!!

  • Queensryche is my Beatles. Paul Macartney can't hold a candle to Geoff Tate. Chris Degarmo and Michael Wilton left John and George in the dust. Ringo, you are in trouble. joannantone305@msn.com

  • @forest1342 ya but the beatles started it all

  • Wow, back when MTV was actually cool to watch!! That when it was about good rock music, NOT RAP

  • Wow, back when MTV was actually cool to watch!! That when it was about good rock music, NOT RAP

  • naum melhor!!!!

  • miss the old ryche, sayin that i still love em!!! tri-ryche 4eva.

  • I graduated High School in 1980... was driving a 1975 Monte Carlo an listening to this... AC/DC... Skynyrd...Nugent... great times forsure! I think this was closer to the end of the 80's.....

  • I graduated High School in 1980... was driving a 1975 Monte Carlo an listening to this... AC/DC... Skynyrd...Nugent... great times forsure!

  • I cry knowing that I missed the 80's. Instead I have to grow up in an era of shitty music.

  • It's good to hear a metal band who can sing, you don't get that anymore.

  • That one person who disliked this video is a sad, sad soul.

  • knowing I was born in 1990 I miss the 80's metal its what I grew up on thanks too my parents I was three when I started listening to Hard Rick and Heavy MetaL fuck that rap shit who's with me METAL ALL THE WAY BABY

  • what i love bout the 80's is that all genres were mainstream. now adays it's only one or two genres. but back in the day. everything from pop to metal to hip hop was all mainstream. everything was good too

  • @LynchSixx1313 to a degree...but bands like slayer sepultura suicidal tendencies king diamond morbid angel death and such got no love on the radio or mainstream..luckily i found them anyway.

  • @ayerslay well you still get where i'm going at with my comment right? i'm not from this wonderful decade but i've looked upon it so much it seems to me everything was huge musically.

  • @LynchSixx1313 i get what you meant and agree mostly...i miss the 80's and the way alot of things were ..its honestly heart wrenching sometimes when i think bout it.

  • Wow they didn't use playback, that is quite strange for TV shows back then.

  • ogni volta che la ascolto mi vien da piangere...e troppo bella per essere vera.li ho visti dal vivo nel 1991 in italia a modena al monsters of rock(di certo la migliore band)

  • Eddie Jackson has a bass tone to die for !!!

  • OMG! THIS FUCKEN GUY IS AWESOME! their ganna be at The Blues Club" soon! Y.K.Y.M.Fer's!! am ganna miss it though :(

  • god they got to bring back 80s rock this stuff was the best of the best not like this crap there playing now

  • Awsome song my favorite one..But what the heck is geoff tate wearing.

  • Excellent vid of these guys performing. Seen them live and they were awesome..Brings back great memories.

  • Good Times!

  • What a kick ass performance indeed!! Great band! Definitely.

  • Awh yes, back when music awards PLAYED METAL BANDS!!!!! They have been such garbage ever since with rap and country crap only. FU AMA's.... Long live metal... To think, I took a tape of this band to Jr. high school with me........ in 1984, lol....

  • They kick ass in live prformances

  • Ah my favorite. Everything just meshes perfectly. Ryche is completely underrated

  • Too hot! Wish someone would post When The Rain Comes. Love that one too. Ryche On!

  • Geoff looking real nice and sexy here--oh yeah sounding good too.

  • Queensryche at their best, so amazing performance, the whole band kicks ass.

  • PERFECTION. Geoff Tate is just awesome.

  • R those background voices for real?! Or did they have recorded sound playing? I just can't believe rock musicians can have perfect pitch like that...amazing!

  • wish Chris was still with them...

  • What can I say??

Simply as great as it gets. These guys KNOW music.

  • Lets see Taylor Swift pull that one off.. (Or any real signing for that matter..)

  • My honest opinion is that, the best Queensryche's album is Promised Land . I think that Take Cover from 2007 is also crazy album . However , Queensryche has special beauty !

  • YES!!!!!! I live in the NW and have heard Geoff, Cris, Kelly, Mike, Ed,SCOTT for decades!! Always the BEST live show! Hit every note, and then some!!! I am 45 and play guitar since 14 and always love to put on a Q cd and rock along!!! The best you can get!!!!!

  • I bought the album Empire yesterday and it fucking rocks! One of the best albums in the history of music ;) Queensrÿche is so amazing !

  • If you think that, you should also buy "Operation Mindcrime"

  • I already have Operation Mindcrime :D

and what a surprise it's also great ;) hehe

  • Excellent performance of one of the best songs from "Empire". At their peak (1984-1994), few bands could touch Queensryche.

  • saw them in May in NJ...still has an amazing voice and looks damn good...

  • *lady wood*

  • they are touring now and he is STILL amazing!!!!

  • This man was amazing.

Very unappreciated band of the 80's.

    They are touring now, ?????

  • Have a half sleeve tattoo of these guys, they have ment so much to me and my music carrer, RYCHE AND ROLL!

  • Great band! Geoff tate has an amazing voice. This song is one of the best songs ever, no, its the best song! :)

  • Great song

    Great voice

    Great performance

  • amazing... simply amazing...

  • amazing backing vocals..so perfect that they sound like it is playback...

  • @zoozooization Your right they have amazing vocals and still do. As to playback NO this is Queensryche, They have and always will play LIVE.

    Ryche On!

  • @zoozooization but it's not, you can tell as the drums are different and there are a couple of flat moments... but all in all... they are FUCKING AMAZING!!!!! >.< x

  • Queensryche has amazing the most amazing vocalist! ROCK ON!!

  • yeah geoff tate was amazing. this was back when music was for real! Im so excited about the new album that came out cuz new album means new album tour! im getting my liscence soon and nothings stopping me from going to see these guys

  • i love this song!!! great vocal performance

  • QR was so unlike the rest of the hair bands. In fact, they weren't a hair band, they were just big during the era of hair. But they were so talented and full of genuine class...and they were one of the few bands of the time whose lyrics really tried to convey something other than "hot chicks" and such. Great band.

  • hell yeah maiden and rush queensryche acdc man the 80's rock was the best !!!! memories

  • @mycatwilatackyou - you, my friend, have an amazing taste in music!

  • @GoGoGadgetBeer I didnt mention Boston , Satch and Erik :P

  • @mycatwilatackyou Well said about RUSH!

  • @mycatwilatackyou I wish I was around for the 80's. That is what my dad had me grow up on

  • @americanwitch Same here...born in 93, but was TOTALLY raised on the 80s <3 <3 <3

lol If I had a TARDIS, I'd go back to that era...fuh-rill lol xD

  • This is a great band Live!, much like Maiden and Rush. Still sound great!!!

  • didnt even do this song

  • They did it in Orlando HOB, on 5-20 Sounded great.

  • sad anymore-saw them sun nite

  • kk for you :)

  • thank you!! :))) song is awesome!

  • If Chris DeGarmo had not gone, then the band would have a high popularity factor today. Since Chris DeGarmo always took part in the compositions. Because of this, Queensryche does not have the quality which had it once any more.

  • We need bands more like them to this day as present day bands lack live talent

  • cant get any more true then that

  • the empire cd and tour was incredible this is a band that easily has to be one of the most underated in rock history

  • This was from the Billboard awards in 1991, I remember this. I couldn't believe when I first heard it they were actually playing it because it sounded nearly identical to the CD, but there are subtle differences. .. amazing performance.

  • The way QR always played live was that Scott Rockenfield had an electronic click in his ears, so that the pre-recorded parts would come on the right time, synchronized with the band.

The pre-recorded parts were the keyboards, effects like the one on this song (the answering machine), and backing vocals.

  • Does Scott hear all the stuff going on in the concert or no?

  • Yes he does. But he has the click to keep perfect time, synchronized with the pre-recorded stuff.

  • thanks for the info

  • this is one of the best vocal i know with the vocal of skid row jjback

  • Always thought that the departure of Chris de Garmo was a fatal wound on Queensryche. The perfection accomplished in the guitar duets of De Garmo and Wilton disappeared. I saw the band in 2001 and it was different. For the guitar solo on Eyes of the Stranger, they omitted it and relied only on bass.

  • wow they r amazing live especially the backingvocals

  • awesome drums

  • Queensryche has a lot of hits and a lot of excellet music , just find and listen it .

  • shows how much people don't know about music! LISTEN TO THIS BAND - WOW!

HOW tight! 5000 hit's are you kidding me!

insane! BY FAR the most over looked band on planet earth! shame! KICKIN SOUND!

  • 1991

  • what year is this?

  • Wow, awsome live version of this song!

  • i like queensryche but how can a band create such a great album but then not make another so awsome! I mean their empire album is awsome but it was their only album that had many hits on it!

  • Operation Mindcrime is their best cd. Promised Land, Rage for Order and The Warning are all great too.

  • so empire wasnt good then, that album is pretty close if not up there with mindcrime, this is one of my favorite songs of queensryche and its from the empire album, along with silent lucidity

  • Of course it was. But it had already been stated, I was just mentioning they had other great albums along with this one. I was responding to what someone else had said about Empire being the only good album.

  • Agree, Empire isn't the only great CD. Everything before this was awesome as well imo. When Chris DeGarmo left, they lost something. He did a majority of the writing. I read that now he is a private pilot somewhere in the mid-west. Be nice to see them get him back and record a new CD. PS I Dream in Infrared is one of the best songs ever recorded imo.

  • Awesome band then and still are today. Tates voice is one of the best, if not THE best ever in the industry of music. The voice is incredible and the band ROCKS IT. Nuff said.

  • Now MTV sucks ... Big time . Where are headbanging people have gone at MTV ?

  • God they use to be so good live.Imiss this version of Queensryche

  • This is when MTV had balls and actually played something other than Hip Hop

  • Great SONG, Great SINGER, SIMPLY GREAT

  • I hate that ESP why did they switch from fenders.

  • Tate is going to hell!....that voice had to cost his soul....

  • Queensryche = best band ever made, no need to say any more.

  • Just wonderful. This video is just dessert. Wonderful. Can I say this 100 times?

    Rock On!

  • God, Tate is a fucking beastly singer.

  • thanks for video , one of their greatest songs.\\

  • Empire is a fantastic album, definitely as good as operation mindcrime

  • I'm not sure. I guess it's because he's just not that good of a singer. Chris and Eddie were, so Michael could sing along. But without Chis it's too obvious that Michaels voice insn't that great.. Ah well, his guitarplaying is, so that's cool!

  • Comment removed

  • When Chris Degarmo was in the band, michael use to sing backup vocals, but since chirs left he doesn't sing at all he only playing guitar. He is a greatest guitarist, but some one tell me why he doesn't sing at all?
