It's almost guaranteed that he could at least transform to super saiyan 2, and because of the potara earrings' ability to draw out incredible power in addition to just fusing, I think if he got completely serious, Vegito could transform to super saiyan 3. Gogeta has to fight against time as well. My analysis = Vegito shits on Gogeta

To form Gogeta, the saiyans have to have an equal amount of power. While Vegeto doesnt have to, they just fuse.
So in DBZ: to form Gogeta the fusion has to be Goku SSj2+Vegeta SSj2, bt to form Vegeto the fusion is Goku SSj3+Vegeta SSj2. This means Vegeto is stronger and wud beat Gogeta if they fought in DBZ.

Personally, I always thought Vegito was better than Gogeta. Mainly 'cause of the outfits. The fusion outfit looks a little too gay to me, revealing so much chest.
From what I know the petora ear rings is a more pure form of fusion, so Vegito would be stronger, but in the DBZ movie Fusion Reborn Gogeta looks like he is a smarter fighter, not as cocky, and willing to just get the job done. (I'm not counting the GT form of Gogeta because that version was annoying) In the end I like Gogeta better though.

The daizenshuu validates this simply because ssj1 gotenks was never stated to be able to beat fat boo, his power didnt even catch the attention from other world where goku and gohan are, whereas ssj3 goku , gohan and the kais were shocked.

The Daizenshuu said that lol if it is Kid Goten there is no way his Super Saiyan form is equal to Teen Gohan's Super Saiyan form when he fought Perfect Cell. Goten as a Super Saiyan was struggling against Android 18. Her punches and kicks did nothing to 2nd form Cell and Gohan was way above that lol I agree they don't have a clue lol
