  • Ok I sent you a comment you didnt reply, This group who sings this obviously havent got the vibe the original song had but its still good the song is being expressed. But I would say that american college singers seem to say not to sway - but the rest of the world says sway. how do you answer that?

  • I loved it. Hope all those kids carry on singing and becoming better and better.

  • this was good!! am impressed

  • SO CLOSE!!!! GOD DAMN THESE KIDS HAVE HERT BUT NOT QUITE THERE.

  • GRAMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Excellent rendition. Many of your girls have some awesome voices, hope they continue utilizing them!

  • The solist is really Exellent tough he cant very high in the sopranos ... The girls sings well i think the only thing is with the four boys in teh back one of them is singing false ...

I enjoyed very much the song ^^

  • it's supposed to be Africans singing it but good job especially with pronouncing the Swahili, bravo

  • @Cotif11 umm, hello, anyone can sing it, so ya, please be quiet.

  • @McCRAAAZY It wasn't a race thing, I was just saying it was intended to be sung by Africans who have the Swahili voice

  • @Cotif11

When did race have to do with music? What about those who speak Swahili that aren't so fluent in English and still sing English songs.

Praise has nothing to do with language. It comes from the heart and strips down barriers.

  • @drummaster273 it doesn't have to do with race it just sounds better because their accents are molded through their language, but im definately not rascist I have a black step-dad and you should cheak out my Baba Yetu video, it has English and Swahili lyrics

  • Let Chistopher Tin compose this and listen to it on the video game.

  • @TheAsharedhett he did that, a bit late to comment. xD

  • They look really bored.

  • @ito123456789 it's they're first time singing...

  • Beautiful. The Swahili language is one of the more lyrical, and the soul that you did put into it is appreciated.

    God Bless.

  • Lol a bunch of white kids singing THIS song

    Sorry, that just amused me

    But this was good ^^

  • Ahsante sana, a great THANK YOU, IT IS PERFECT - just have a look to my Swahili Channel - Annemarie

  • That sounds great, I hope my choir sounds as good doing it.

  • sheepconductor I sent u a comment, hope this is ok. for those reading I do actually like this .

  • I like this song!!!!!!!!!!!! what's the language please??? and what does it means?? very well done anyway! :))) and cool new design of YT!

  • @snapeparker

Kiswahili from East Africa. This is a beautiful rendition but there are many ways to sing this. One of my favorites is a call and response type rendition which I cannot find on you tube. I lived in Tanzania for quite some time and it is the Lord's Prayer in swahili or otherwise called Kiswahili

  • its the altos that sings that part and lol it was a octive higher uh.... solo did a good job, but be more into the music your just standing and singing and a little more diction choir and be more into it....good job guys keep it up.=)

  • best of the all CHOIRs

  • In Old age i make this added comment. I still agree that one person was better. But overaverall you guys were good :)

  • I dont believe in God or "religions", my religion is the faith. I wise man dont need religions (Seneca)

I think this guys used this song in the game, because Africa is the origin of the human civilization after mesopotamy.

And in the Game you are a god creating your own civilization.

  • No, you're an immortal king.

  • @Gatzinkaiser umm what game have you been playing? you are far from a god in civilization iv. . . i don't even know how to respond to the rest of the stuff you said..it seems like either pure ignorance or a big contradiction.

  • Although I agree with some poster in that this rendition lacks enthusiasm and gusto, it is still a very good version - the best amateur version I have found so far on YouTube.

    Good going, guys!

  • this was awesome, ignore the losers who say your bad, they are on such high horses that planes have to detour not to hit them

  • eeh de michaia isch de geilst!

    FÄGI FÜR IMMER :-D

  • nicely done we sang this song in high school too.

  • so nice ^_^

  • One of the main user comment on all american baba yetu renditions is that they dont *give* or *sway* to the music. Thats why i say that one girl in this team made it better cos i could see 1 person enjoying it....ppl of america listen to the world ffs

  • I agree!!

  • The work you did here was obviously nice and cant be ignored but dudette you can ignore the things we post. And btw bring us back something more :)

  • but a word of advice, ive said this on may other baba yetu renditions so dont feel targeted - Why do you teach you choirs Not to sway with the music ? its almost an insult to the music not to. Sway swoon move, thats the way the music is intended why ruin it....

  • ITS PERFECT

  • ... this is not the point. We've just did it to worship our God. And I'm convinced, that He likes it, just because of that reason.

Furthermore, if you close your eyes and listen beyond the lacking quality, you will probably hear some expression.

  • The translation is completely a worship song. It's so awesome!

  • @Kaldhore:

I want to explain something, because I don't like the way you comment that.

I'm the girl who conductet that.

The people who sing did never sing before, this was the first, very little "concert" we made at the service in a small church after three month rehearsing.

I did never conduct before. Apart from that we had much trouble with several things. For this circumstances I think we've had a respectable result. I'm a professional, I know how it could sound. But this is not the...

  • You make some fair points but I can only comment on what I see, and I still stand by my earlier points. Criticism is hard i admit. Especially something close to you.

  • @sheepconductor i give you props for this, you conducted it amazingly and it sounded great!

  • apart from the girl in the glasess

  • Comment removed

  • You're wrong. The soloist was the worst part of the song. if you don't believe me go check out how it really sounds. Just type "baba yetu" and choose the second option.

  • CHORUS Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey! Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe, na yule, simama mwehu Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe. (x2)
  • CHORUS Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina! Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe. (x2) Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey! Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe, na yule, milelea milele! CHORUS Ufalme wako ufike utakalo Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni. (Amina)
  • voller elan xD

  • that ruelly great nice voises :3

  • you are on the way! keep up :-)

  • they have to train HARD

  • this is definetly one of the better soloist ive heard, even though hes off pitch a couple of times.

  • hab ich war schonmal besser gehört...aber auch ganz ok...ginge aber besser^^

  • wo hast du das besser gehört? sags mir bitte ich suche ganz youtube

  • didnt start on time hahhaaa

  • why is it called the fagt-ory?

  • hahaha faggot-ory

  • christopher Tin did not compose nothing. he copied A swahili Lords prayer hymn and put it on video game. what do you mean it is not african song? praise God. we got use alot of hymns on videos.

  • He did take the words but the music is origional. Also the hymn that the words are taken from didnt have the phases in this order.

  • This is a remix of what we sung in Kenya @ mass. The 'ooooh' and the 'hey!' and the 'hheeee' bits are the additions. Also, they don have shakers(percussion instrument)...n the african drums need be louder. lol

  • Chaimoto, if you understand music, it doesn't matter if the words came from Our Lords Prayer or not, what matters is the way the music and words are arranged and how the music feels, if you don't feel it then you can't understand the meaning. Just because its a remix of something else isn't bad at all, this is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time.

  • BABA YETU ULIYE MBINGUNI

    JINA LAKO LITU KUZWE

    Thy Kingdom Come

    UFALME WAKO UJE

    HAPA DUNIANI KAMAHUKO MBINIGUNI

    UTUPE LEO RIZIKI YETU

    UTUSAMEHE DENI ZETU

  • AMINA PAISE GOD

  • quem são aqueles gatinhos ali atras:????

    ksoaksoaksoa

  • To anyone who is wondering, this is NOT an African song. It was composed by Christopher Tin, a Chinese American guy, for the video game Civilization 4. Only in the choice of language is this song even remotely "African."

  • Actually, Tin composed this song in Swahili, which is indeed an African language. The song is the Lord's Prayer translated into Swahili, although once translated, it no longer has the same direct wording.

But the bottom line is, it is indeed African

  • You are missing my point. My point is, that even though Tin used the Swahili language for lyrics, the tune and arrangement are entirely his own. The Lord's Prayer is common enough and has been translated into so many languages that it cannot count as an "African song."

Example: If I translated "Happy Birthday" into Japanese and put it to a new tune, would you call it a "Japanese song?"

  • Ah, okay. I thought you were trying to say it wasn't African, as in not being an African language. My fault completely.

You are correct. It is not an African-composed or African-origin song. It's the same as every movie theme ever composed with the Boston Pops Orchestra playing a Russian, Vietnamese, British, etc. song

  • The music is not original. That is how it has been sung in Africa...Kenya Catholic church. He just added the 'lion king like' ooooh....yeaaaah and heyy!!.

Otherwise, it is just a rip off!

  • Fairly well done, but a bit abrupt. They need to smooth it out just slightly, and sing more through their throats than their noses. Other than that, it's good, albeit faster than it should be.

  • congradulations - great job!! i cant tell the difference between this and the one from the game.

this isnt a nerdy song, nor is the game nerdy. ^^ so if u think this is gay then please dont comment you waste space by your breath

  • Mme fanya vizuri( you did good)

  • bad solist, good choire

  • I love this song and the game but whenever I see high school choirs or whatever singing it I feel bad that they're singing a song from something as nerdy as Civilization.

I've always had a problem with stuff like that.

  • its doesnt come directly from civilization its the lords prayer in swahili put into civilizations

  • it's a real song, civ4 just used it

  • It's a real song written and composed by Christopher Tin for Talisman A Capella and Civ4. It didn't exist before and certainly not in Africa...the Swahili in it is not even grammatically correct. It's "Baba Yetu Yesu..." for one thing and "simama mwehu" means nothing in translation that has anything to do with the Lord's Prayer. In fact, 1/2 of it is missing here. Great song, yes...but don't trust what you read on eLyrics.

  • great work!

  • you guys sound good =D

  • it's kinda wrong on the lyrics, it's 'baba yetu yesu uliye mbinguni'

  • the guy is a bit slow you could tell he missed the queue and starts two seconds late.. its funny everyone looks around at him.. hes like oh am I suppose to start.. lol

  • ok why is the guy in the middle singing the solos he has no emotion in his singing but the other people were great

  • Pretty good job with this guys.

I have a video of me playing this song on the piano. You should check it out. Look in my profile.

  • amine

  • nice. mzuri sana

  • Its like watching a wet carrot sing.

  • faggotry faggotry faggotry

  • Wait. The Faggotry Choir Project?

  • BWAHAHHAHAHAHA i knew somebody would get it lollololol

  • Stop insulting choral projects, There is nothing "faggotry" about choir - Just about your attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @trompetista272

If choral projects are so cool, how come I can't jack off to them?

  • were they forced to sing the Lords prayer!!!!

  • Not bad. It's a good try.

  • man... put some faces on... there faces said... "i hate this song... wonder what i'm going to do after this..."

  • Sup, yellow?

  • does there exist no video on youtube that actually has this song performed by actual AFRICANS?

  • he tried:/

  • omg. the soloist sucks.

  • I wish a little more soul was put into it.

  • @jeaneanerz they never sung before, give them a break.

    Well done, all of you!

  • Im unable to give it a passing grade.

A pass in killing it yes.

Live music they used was okay but needed to be better.

I know this may be to stong of a small review

But the pitch, tone was a bit off for the song sometimes it was a little bit better

  • you guys spelt the words wrong lol i'm singing this in my choir for hs right now its going to be in our spring concert

  • wow low quality high school choir, typical. theres no tenors and the soloist doesn't even breath i cant wait to do this the correct way at our spring concert.

  • And, where's the He Le-Le? i know for a fact that it's in the music but i don't hear it!

  • so this is one of the funnest song to sing in life. [i know, we're singing it in chorus now]and i saw ZERO expression. and when you guys hit "u fal me wako...." ....yea pretty painful. nice try though.

  • god that was awful. :53-:55 when the guy says "Hey" jesus that was just awful/weaksauce

  • it is a great song but u guys ruined it nice try though :)

  • oh wow...that SUCKED

those girls were so off pitch..:[

and the lead guy...not leading yet...

i mean..i luhh this song...but..just not with you all

    what was ur director thinking??

  • Funny how many people starting stealing this song from Civilization 4 and completely freaking ruining it. This sounds like a mob, not a choir

  • so true

  • Great song!!

  • At first I thought the man is singing the song for his lover Juliet, lol.

  • oh gee, u guys speak perfect kiswahili,i dunno hw u do it!-i speak kiswahili(mother tongue though)... enwy nice song!!!!its beatiful

  • I've heard better but I agree with brightrose. You really need to get into it.

  • Show expression in your faces! This is an epic song of awesomeness, and must be treated as such. Have fun with it!!! =D

  • lol y are the drums all the way over there?

  • lolol.. Just this guy in the corner.

Probably trying to exclude him. lol

  • Eehh... Where's the brass? The parts of the French Horn is so important!!!... But... Really nice arrangement!

  • i totally agree with u there. the french horn basically introduces the next section and with out it, when the chior goes faster, it sounds a mess

  • Whoa a little too intense from the Sopranos there. It's a fun song to perform. I hope you guy's enjoyed it!

  • Thank you for posting the lyrics!! Get this song out of gaming machines and into the hearts of the people at large!

  • somebody is REALLY hitting the wrong note, on the second baba on the chorous :|

  • our choir is much better lol

    no offense, it's still good

  • no mine is =)

  • well i havn't hurt urs so i can't say anything about urs

  • lol subtiles ^^

  • the lead singer didnt start when he was supposed to lol!! they all look back and are like wtf??

  • hey zeme....

    sind eifach di beschte...

ich ha ja leider tonnewiis probe verhängt...(sorry)

    peace & greez from huuser

    god bless you all!!!

  • baba stfu stfu, look the the video by vladyc35 - much better

  • they suck lol. the other group of ppl are a lot better

  • talk abotu dischordant. and clanging.

  • The main singer has a great voice but they all need to learn how to say the words. But he has a nice voice

  • i love this!

  • Brilliant!

  • what as the conductor doing that's not how you conduct....these PEOPLE ARE SOOO GOOD...the singers not the conductor

  • what are you talking about. the conductor did a fine job conducting, the singers could use some work making everything smooth and flow, and they need more balance between the sections as well as more ditction.. and being energetic. my choir is doing this song as well and its just one of those songs where you just cant stay still.

although good job, i know how hard it is to sing this song.

and i was reading the other comments and its the swahili version of the our father.

  • good song i've always liked it tho i still don't get why people sing to a being who's not there rather then just beliving in themselves

  • Aeonbrit, God is real. He loves you and wants a relationship with you. let no one cheat you.

  • Exactly. Amen!

  • good sound, props to the tenor soloist *thumbs up*

  • ops sry, meant that pertaining to bobishungry

  • what the heck?

how can u claim to be sumthing important and can;t even spell it...i mean...what an ishtard

  • Very good work

  • It's a great song, but you guys could use a little work with your voices.

  • WOW!

    your voices are amazing...

(suck my left nut) =D 5 stars

I enjoyed the song! Thank You! <3

  • Great vid, great work from you.

Thank you for sharing this on the internet! You warmed my heart down here in S.A., so far from where you are.

  • and you are a dumbass bobishungry! This song is great

  • agreed.

  • noob

  • I'd like to see you sing this song. Ya think you can... No! This song is about God. Our Father? Ever heard of it. It's a great song.

  • well i dont belive in god because i am not a moron like u idiots. Plus my father is not some stupid thing floating around in the sky.

  • What is your father then? Wait...let me guess. Hmmm The flying Spagetti monster?

  • I meant to reply to the comment by bobishungry.

  • I agree with you all the way but the way you express it is alittle rough. your giving us athiest bad names.

  • nicely done.

  • Go Switzerland

  • WAAAAAhhhh!!! they missed my part at 0:57!!! oh well, this is still freakin great!!!!

  • keep up the good work guys! you can do even better! still I enjoyed this a lot :)

by the way I wish that all kinds of prayers of all religions were more or less like this, this is sooo peaceful and positive.

I grew up in a muslim country and I don't like the sound of prayers that you hear from the mosques and I honestly do not consider myself a muslim, nor belong to any other religion...

  • Great song!

    Was that a rehersal?

    Keep working!

  • Must have been hard to memorize the lyrics, LOL!!! Mad props, I was a little skeptic at the beginning, but I thoroughly enjoyed this.

  • I assume this is some kind of church thing. It's probably 9AM on a Sunday and most of them wish they were still sleeping instead of being forced into going to church by their parents.

  • I really do like this performance though.

  • well you guys picked a really good songs.. but can you guys look more dead? you are so boring up there! singing is alot more then just getting your notes right

  • Wunderbar hännder det gsunge Lüüt :)

Isch mega cool gsi, sry dasi nöd hänn chönne mitsinge, aber ich het s Liäd zwenig chönne.

    5-Sterne wunderbare Song

    Gottes Sägä!

  • I'm not a big fan of the brightness of the soloist's tone.

Dropping the jaw and allowing space at the back of the throat can give it a darker sound.

  • no offence but the girls need to work a little a bit more

  • the girls need some work. =(

  • Well err-

    --ouch--

  • song rocks, choir sucks

  • Overall a great job! I loved what you did with the song!
