  • I du know go to the RCSpeeds channel and watch many planes go over 400mph and one video has the plane going 468mph. The new Dynamic Soaring, (unpowered glider) "fastest radio controlled model aircraft in the world" is the Kinetic 100 DP. There's one plane on there, (The Thunder Master) that weighs 77pounds, has a 200" wing span and it's on video going 425mph!! The sound is unreal!

  • Am I sounding old if I say that was too fast and they should slow down a little?

    That was sick

  • I want to see the first RC plane to break the sound barrier!

  • not bad but still slow, sail planes hit close to 400mph keep up the good piloting

  • Gonna give the dynamic soaring guys a run for their money pretty soon...

  • great plane and great flying, but there is one that got radar'd at 586kph last year. that's 316 kts / 364 mph. from the looks of it, it could have gone much faster but it was so fast it could barely be seen. it's on jetsinhd's profile here in youtube. thing was insane.

  • WOW........

  • Dominican Republic ? last time i visited family over there a group of tourists (americans) tried to speak spanish and i explained that i was born in new york and they were suprised... lol

  • record broken ....

  • Now add a mini machine gun it will be fun

  • BRUTALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL =)

  • @Xjonas335X

do you know how much money is wrapped up in that?!?!?!?!

  • i have seen a video faster than that

  • 552 kph :O

  • Awesome!! Me want one!! I bet you can't do that in the USA with our 200 MPH speed limit at AMA fields...plus all the liability....I wish we could do a speed contest in the States!

  • would SERIOUSLY not like the burden of having to land that thing XP

  • that thing is sick

  • Secondly, a firebird is nowhere near a hundred grand, where guys get these prices I will never know. The firebird kit is $6700, the olympus is about $7000 (note, Shui's Oly was a specially built engine for the speed attempt and not commercially available) All the extra radio gear, batteries etc, will end up about $2500, more if you want all the blingy crap. Less than 20K will get you a Firebird. You'll still break 300mph with a stock AMT Olympus.

  • Some of you guys are so uneducated. First, this record is for the Fastest Radio controled conventionally configured TURBINE model aircraft. The Scout is a delta with no landing gear, it is extremely fast, but it's not conventionally configured. Conventional configuration is an internal engine, landing gear, wing and tail surfaces, not a delta with external engine. DS gliders are faster sure, they weigh very little and have less drag, that's not what this record is about.

  • on bord cam ?

  • This will run u bout hundredgrand

  • Hello, this is not the fastest record any more, in the netherlands in horst, they dit a record of 587 km/h with a scout with 16kg or trust. with this plane search for "Very, very, very fast Turbine powered RC Jet"

  • Try this again so that would be 345.234 MPH very cool

  • so that would be 345.234MPH very cool.

  • Super sick man, congrats.

  • LOL i thought it was a real plane until he came up 2 it with the camera LOL fukin quick

  • The method the Radar Gun operator uses 100% invalidates the reading. YOU MUST HOLD THE GUN STILL!!!

Following the plane with the radar gun makes the gun see EVERYTHING move, and simply tells you the reading OF THE SURROUNDING AREA.

  • This was faster than laws allow planes to fly under 10k feet altitude! But how the hell did the pilot manage to control that thing going so fast? In less than a second it disappears far away. Awesome!

  • Congratulations Shui and Axel! The FBird is one of the best built birds I have seen fly! Hope to own one of these someday.........

  • what a cool sound. did anybody notice that the sound actually trailled about 20-50 feet behind the jet? i did. but still 543 KPH is holy shit fast.

  • I'm a fellow RC pilot, so I can appreciate how cool this is. However, I'm also a fellow You Tuber and I'm pretty annoyed.

This is definitely one of those videos where the sound is just as exciting as the view. So, why oh why did you overlay music???

    Please re-post the raw footage.

  • Congratulations to the entire team!! I have to get one of these JMP Firebirds. They're built 6 miles down the road from me and Tom's son is my neighbor! I have no good exuses.....the step up into jets will be in the near future. Congrats again to the whole team...truly unbelievable!!

  • read the infobox:

"For the fastest radio controlled, conventionally configured, turbine model aircraft in the world"

  • I'm sure dentrinity knows that. He is only pointing out that as fast as that jet model is, it still isn't as fast as a GLIDER, with no engine!

  • Yeah, but the jet can go this fast without a cliff and without wind! The DS gliders are limited to a special topography and wind conditions while this jet can go this fast anywhere on earth!

  • Another thing to keep in mind is that these gliders are only "scoped" as they come up the slope, when they are at their slowest speed. And they are pulling upwards of 20g or more. If one of the top glider designers ever decides to hang a turbine on a DS design, I'm sure it will smoke any current production turbine model!

  • It would be hard to make that claim since a turbine setup adds weight. I doubt if you could maintain the tiny thickness/cord ratio of the DS designs for 20G turns with an extra 7 lbs (or 140 lbs @ 20G which is what an olympus weighs without fuel. Add fuel and you are talking about a total of 300 additional lbs at 20Gs). Structurally, it would be very challenging...

  • Negative. We're talking about a speed record, not the ability to pull Gs. If you mounted a turbine in an aerodynamic fairing, with just enough fuel onboard to do the timed run in each direction, a top notch DS glider could easily go faster than 400 mph.

  • A close friend of mine, who happens to be an aeronautical engineer working on "black" projects for the military, is also a world class RC glider guy, and has designed many competition gliders. He is well known for designing high speed machines. I approached him about the feasibility of adapting some of the high-speed glider airfoils and fuselage design to a turbine powered model just to set a speed record, and he told me I was right on track.

  • Even the fastest sport jet out there is designed and built for sport flying (RC), not for world record speed attempts. If someone decides to build one just for the purpose of setting the record, it won't look anything like any of the sport jets in existence, and will be much more streamlined, and with thinner, stronger wings, etc.

  • The only point I was trying to make is that we are flying gliders all day long that not only go fast, but do it under very high G loads, which slow them down. Give one of these gliders a strong propulsion source, and fly in a straight line, and it will go very very fast! As I fly jets for a living, I can tell you that if I need to slow down, pulling some G does that quickly, and it takes a good deal of power to keep up speed when pulling G.

  • ds planes can't shit whitout wind or a straightline.

  • Yeah but this is a video about jets, and in the opinion of many gliders are about as interesting as paper airplanes.

  • Nice video, and nice speed, but the world fastest RC model is still hold by a saiplane, making dynamic soaring, actual record is 392 mph. check video on youtube "kinetic 100" 392 mph"
