I've watched quite a few of these clips now and Tim Allen is the first one to mention a non-american movie. And he happens to pick the very best one at that. This was a pleasant surprise. Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are truely movie masterpieces.
US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”
Obviously I'm not trying to please anyone with my opinion nor am I a movie expert. I just love movies and I watch them all the time(recently on netflix which is where I saw seven samurai). Seven Samurai was incredible it had great acting and although the movie was a bit slow for me it was never boring. I will say this though and I might get critizied for this but I don't care it's my opinion. Tim Allen I actually enjoyed the toy story movies more than seven samurai.
He's decent in Red Belt. I'll modify that and say he's good in that one. But I agree with others, with the good taste in movies he has, he should get some better roles for himself.
This guy's a retard. Oh, he's also a Republican. Which is fine, but he's one of those "give us our country back" type of Republicans. Read his blog. Only good thing he's ever done is in Toy Story and even that could have arguably been better done by someone else.
Tim Allen can take what might be considered a bad movie and make it good just by being in it, because he's Tim Allen. The dude just rocks. Sort of like Bruce Willis. Those two need to team up.
Interesting. Allen likes Shakespeare, he spoofed Shatner in Galaxy Quest, and Stewart plays the captain of the next Enterprise and he's a Shakespearean actor. Methinks it all doth come gloriously full circle and roundest in that measure. :)
He is right about Forbidden Planet, i think that was made in 1956? Leslie Nielsen NOT playing a funning guy as the male lead too, classic movie. Seven Samurai is awesome.
@anthonyctoma there is a lot more evidence suggesting he did than he didn't, look it up, I'm not going to make 50 posts to prove my point. The real W Shake. was an illiterate prig, who had the equivalent of a grade 2 education. Bacon was a man of the courts traveled abroad, knew 5 or 6 languages....
Along with Malcolm McDowell, one of the most intelligent comments in this series. And he's right - Forbidden Planet is basically The Tempest as sci-fi. Smart man!!
Well, I've never met him in person, so my only impressions of the guy are from movies and TV, but he doesn't seem like an asshole to me. Then again, I could be wrong.
some actors think they are better than you and they can be very mean and rude. they are to full of themselves. i hate actors like that. they think they are better than you.
Is this his garage? Looks cooler than Jay's. By the way Seven Samurai, which is often said to be one of the most influential films ever made, was said by Kurosawa himself to be based on American westerns (I believe mostly John Ford) but that's always left out of these things. I don't care enough to research it, but I do remember him be quoted of that.
@ramblinhaze Crazy On The Outside. I didn't really want to rent that movie, but I added it to my blockbuster online que. I got it after a few other movies, and was really surprised at it. It was simple, it wasn't knock down fall on the ground hilarious. It was just a good ol simple comedy, and I think his directorial debut. Check that one out if you haven't already.
I was surprised how passionate it was. And self-depricatting. Good for him. And to think, Harold Ramis left Galaxy Quest as the director because he didn't want Tim Allen in the lead
