  • forbidden planet and 20 000 leagues are 2 of my favortie movies as well

  • I've watched quite a few of these clips now and Tim Allen is the first one to mention a non-american movie. And he happens to pick the very best one at that. This was a pleasant surprise. Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are truely movie masterpieces.

  • @mocthezuma Helen Mirren said her's was L'atalante

  • @pretzelpimp Yes, watched that one after this. :)

  • He's such a tool man

  • @fuck192ass it was meth, although maybe he did coke too.. but he was selling meth back in the day

  • I don't think so Tim...

  • Ricky Gervais brought me here

  • Well, shit. Apparently Tim Allen knows what's up.

  • Tim Allen needs to work with Branagh on the next Shakespeare film

  • to infinity and beyond!

  • who cares what he thinks its FUCKING TIM ALLEN

  • Tim Allen is an awesum possum.

  • I think Ran is Kurosawa's best film

  • Seven Samurai is absolutely one of my 10 favorite movies ever ! The Lion In Winter with Katharine Hepburn, in my opinion, is brilliant also !

  • Someone called Tim Allen an Idiot!!

  • Obviously I'm not trying to please anyone with my opinion nor am I a movie expert. I just love movies and I watch them all the time(recently on netflix which is where I saw seven samurai). Seven Samurai was incredible it had great acting and although the movie was a bit slow for me it was never boring. I will say this though and I might get critizied for this but I don't care it's my opinion. Tim Allen I actually enjoyed the toy story movies more than seven samurai.

  • omg thats buzz lightyear

  • He's decent in Red Belt. I'll modify that and say he's good in that one. But I agree with others, with the good taste in movies he has, he should get some better roles for himself.

  • He has great taste indeed.

  • This guy's a retard. Oh, he's also a Republican. Which is fine, but he's one of those "give us our country back" type of Republicans. Read his blog. Only good thing he's ever done is in Toy Story and even that could have arguably been better done by someone else.

  • @StigRossi Anyone who appreciates a good Kurosawa flick is a friend of mine

  • Every interview I've seen with him reveals just slightly more how truly cool he is.

  • Tim Allen can take what might be considered a bad movie and make it good just by being in it, because he's Tim Allen. The dude just rocks. Sort of like Bruce Willis. Those two need to team up.

  • "It was Shakespeare, you IDIOT!!" LAWL

  • finally, somebody gave some interetsing god damn answers! Go Tim.

  • God, he's such a cool guy! I wanna shake his hand! He's frickin Santa Clause!!!

  • @pretzy2 no hes buzz lightyear. way more important

  • Did you know that Tim Allen was actually a convict, and he got caught with cocaine. After he got out of jail he somehow became an actor lol

  • @GoldenAkCallOfDuty4 Obviously. I mean just look at 0:37

  • @GoldenAkCallOfDuty4 yeah, most actors don't become cocaine addicts until they have a hit.

  • Seven samurai is my favorite movie too!

    Aowrowrowrowrowrow

  • What he meant to say was: Galaxy Quest

  • Interesting. Allen likes Shakespeare, he spoofed Shatner in Galaxy Quest, and Stewart plays the captain of the next Enterprise and he's a Shakespearean actor. Methinks it all doth come gloriously full circle and roundest in that measure. :)

  • boy oh boy his favories say a lot... u SUCK!!!!

  • damn who knew the guy from home improvement had such great taste

  • finally! someone doesn't say the Godfather

  • he should do a Galaxy Quest 2 !!! :D

  • He read all this stuff in a book... Really!

  • Of course. What self-respecting actor wouldn't list an Akira Kurosawa movie as one of their favorites? Tim Allen has good taste.

  • Tim Allen is the Best

  • i think he's a good actor, unfortunately most of the movies he made were not that good.

  • He is right about Forbidden Planet, i think that was made in 1956? Leslie Nielsen NOT playing a funning guy as the male lead too, classic movie. Seven Samurai is awesome.

  • my favorite movie is Toy Story!! :DDDD

  • I thought he was going to say "blow"

  • @The1CamBo Yeah! Blow is amazing.

  • @The1CamBo lol nice

  • You mean Sir Francis Bacon wrote it under the pen name Shakespeare

  • @snoogans999 never been proven.

  • @anthonyctoma there is a lot more evidence suggesting he did than he didn't, look it up, I'm not going to make 50 posts to prove my point. The real W Shake. was an illiterate prig, who had the equivalent of a grade 2 education. Bacon was a man of the courts traveled abroad, knew 5 or 6 languages....

  • Forbidden Planet was awesome. However, I only saw it after Naked Gun and Airplane so I kept expecting Leslie Nielson to say something funny.

  • Go BUZZ !

  • Seven Samurai is my favourite movie to.

  • Who would have thought Tim Allen had a brain in his head... pleasantly surprised.

  • lol, my friends dad used to rail coke with Tim Allen during their college days

  • Big Trouble is kind of like a mini Pulp Fiction for me. I love it and I have never disliked Tim Allen. He's Buzz Lightyear for christ sake.

  • seven samurai??!!?!?!?!? this guy has been playing dumb his whole career, that was my choice as well.

  • It's bizarre that someone who makes so many terrible movies has good taste in film.

  • I agree that he has great taste in film. Also, he has made some stupid movies, but I thought "Galaxy Quest" and "Big Trouble" were both perfect.

  • @VJWU Not bizarre at all.. Work is work.

  • exactly!

  • The Green Mile

  • Comment removed

  • Along with Malcolm McDowell, one of the most intelligent comments in this series. And he's right - Forbidden Planet is basically The Tempest as sci-fi. Smart man!!

  • Kurasawa FTW!!

  • the tool man knows his shit.

  • Hats off to you, Tim.

  • Good choices. Forbidden Planet is the best '50s science fiction movie, with all due respect to The Day the Earth Stood Still.

  • Wow, Tim Allen actually likes decent movies? Weird.... and kind of cool, I guess.

  • "It was Shakespeare, you idiot." Lol.

  • THIS man did enough coke back in the day to kill a herd of welder beast. much respect.

  • Wow i did the same thing but with another film...thank you Tim!

  • Wow, my respect for Tim Allen just rose so much. I thought he did sitcoms, but it turns out he obviously knows what its all about.

  • Seven Samurai ftw.

  • I gotta say... that's a better choice then I expected from Tim Allen.

  • I ove this man hes so funny and down to earth, 'its shakespeare u idiot'. 7 samurai one of my favs too.

  • seven samuri, good fucking choice Kurasowa rules

IKIRU is my fave film ever

  • Well, I've never met him in person, so my only impressions of the guy are from movies and TV, but he doesn't seem like an asshole to me. Then again, I could be wrong.

  • yeah he seems like hed be an asshole

  • i hate Tim Allen. i met him in person and he is not a nice man. he is a very, very bad man.

  • why????

  • some actors think they are better than you and they can be very mean and rude. they are to full of themselves. i hate actors like that. they think they are better than you.

  • He probably is lol

  • The best film ever was Battle Beyond the Stars. It combined elements of all those films and has the efficiency of being only one film.

  • Is this his garage? Looks cooler than Jay's. By the way Seven Samurai, which is often said to be one of the most influential films ever made, was said by Kurosawa himself to be based on American westerns (I believe mostly John Ford) but that's always left out of these things. I don't care enough to research it, but I do remember him be quoted of that.

  • Wow, all three of hist faves were made between '54 and '56.

  • Tim Allen RAWK~!!

    whatever u like,i like too xD wee~

    WILD HOGS,THE SHAGGY DOG xD

  • he has good taste in film.

but the movies hes in are shitty

  • DEAD ZONE OR KISS OF DEATH

  • great guy

  • Bravo Tim, Forbidden Planet is indeed was an awesome pick. The FX of that move was decades ahead of its time.

Awesome plot as well, especially for a sci-fi movie.

  • Seven Samurai is a great film. My personal favorite of Kurosawa is Ikiru.

  • Well tim allen is a smart man and he's been in some good movies and those were some good picks although i've never seen seventh samurai

  • there is no decent actor like this one!! perhaps Billy Crystal,i suppose!!

  • This man is awesome, but he needs a new agent.

  • @Phamster92 Crazy On The Outside

  • "Ran" rules too - I can really see him sitting there and yelling that - who write that - shakespeare you schmuck!

  • Except that Ran isn't quite as obvious of an adaptation.

  • aint it now? well I never - I dare say that can be debate 'til we are green and blue headwise :)

  • I LOVE SEVEN SAMURAI!!!! thats such a good movie

  • haha that's hilarious!! "it was Shakespeare u idiot!"

  • He picked a great movie. Tim Allen is deeper then I thought.

  • has there ever been a person less funny than this guy? I seriously doubt it.

  • he's actually a decent comedian

  • seven samurai ftw

  • Tim Allen is amazing. No joke. I wish he were put into more good movies..or A good movie.

I mean Galaxy Quest is fun for shits and giggles but..

  • @ramblinhaze galaxy quest is such a perfect movie. it's like the shaun of the dead for sci fi

  • @ramblinhaze Crazy On The Outside. I didn't really want to rent that movie, but I added it to my blockbuster online que. I got it after a few other movies, and was really surprised at it. It was simple, it wasn't knock down fall on the ground hilarious. It was just a good ol simple comedy, and I think his directorial debut. Check that one out if you haven't already.

  • @ramblinhaze Toy Story, duh... But ya, he needs one as a human haha.

  • @ramblinhaze umm.. Buzz Lightyear????

  • he seems like he loves movies so much, thats great.

  • He seems like such a cool guy lol

  • My favorite (off the top of my head) is The Shawshank Redemption.

  • EXcellent choice brotha (no im not black)

  • If you like Shawshank then you might like 'Midnight Express' too, both great films.

  • Shawshank was better than Midnight Express, but they were both good.

  • suprising that a man who makes such shit movies knows so much about them

  • He hit it on the head. Forbidden Planet!

  • i don't care if you think his movies are lame or his comedy is tired, this is passionate commentary

  • I was surprised how passionate it was. And self-depricatting. Good for him. And to think, Harold Ramis left Galaxy Quest as the director because he didn't want Tim Allen in the lead

  • that's a shame

  • Seven samurai´s good but the old audio is a bit boring lmao

  • lmao. he just keeps going.

    hahaha hes so amazing

  • They're not ALL shit. Galaxy Quest was a welcome surprise, I don't think I have to say anything about the two Toy Story movies that hasn't been said already, and I don't know if any of you have seen Redbelt yet, but I recommend it.

  • seven samurai fuck yeah

  • wilson said "it was shakespeare you idiot".

  • ahh its buzz!!!

  • 1) rocky

    2) cloak & dagger

    3) vision quest

    4) halloween

    5) one flew over the cuckoos nest thats my top 5 not that it matters

  • Akira Kurosawa'S The seven samurai. If you see it, buy it.

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Forbidden Planet

one of my favorites. Walter Pidgeon was magnificent in it and Leslie Nielsen was great as well.

  • oh jesus thats so funny. "it was shakespeare you idiot".

  • Wow, this clip makes me finally like him after years and years of thinking he's an arrogant tool. Guess I was wrong.

  • first time I've ever heard him talk and not think he was a knob. He should do better movies that the tripe he takes on.

  • Tim Allen is great. He is basically a regular guy who got a chance at acting, and most people know about all of the stuff he has done

  • Lol. "It was Shakespeare, you idiot!" Hahahahaha.

  • lol, Tim Allen actually likes good movies?

  • Why is it that Tim Allen doesn't appear in Woody Allen or Martin Scorsese or Coen Brothers or Tarantino films?

  • i guess cause hes a family mna notice how he only makes holiday movies or comedies

  • Very eloquent. I think Tim's actually a pretty decent actor. He just really needs to fire his agent.

  • "It was Shakespeare you idiot!"

    LMAO

  • jus give us one movie choice, tim...then, shut the hell up!

  • Seventh Samurai is a definitive action movie and a brilliant choice. Tim is still exceptional as an actor but he needs to improve his choices for work... I hope we don't have to see him in a dodgy family comedy again

  • Interesting responce from a guy who chooses to do SHIT MOVIES for a living. I mean did the world need another SHAGGY DOG movie? Hey Tim do yourself a favor and fire your agent you seem like a guy who has a lot more going on then the movies you make lead us to believe.

  • "Breathe Tim...Breathe." LMAO.

  • My favorite classic movie is king kong and the godfather.

  • charlie and the chocolate factory is awsome

seventh samurai IS ALSO A VERY GOOD MOVIE

  • seven....not seventh.

  • >8( shut up

  • Breathe Tim...Breathe.

  • TITANIC

  • this guy just doesn't shut up!!!

  • hah you know he was addicted to coke.. and he sucked dick for coke.. its true its in his police records....i never looked at him the same after that

  • I knew he was addicted to coke when he was in his teens but he sucked d**k! what i never knew that oh well im sure he probs regreat s it. I still love him

  • hes funny as hell but everytime i see him i cant help but think....cocksucker .....haha

  • Hard to believe Allen isn't more familiar with shakespeare, when one considers how similar his temperament is to that of both Hamlet and Prince Hal. My guess is he's kidding-- very funny!

  • LOL!... what complete BONE-HEADED logic. Good one.

  • The Seven Samurai. :D

  • seven samurai is awesome!

  • Tim Allen is great. He is basically a regular guy who got a chance at acting, and most people know about all of the stuff he has done (Toy Story, Home Improvement, arrested from drugs, the santa clause)

  • Tim Allen isn't an afficienado of Shakespeare?! My world is turned upside down!

  • Forbidden Planet FTW!!

  • tim allen is a fucktard

  • Very true.

  • Ian McKellum?

  • richard the third tryed to marry his niece

  • Why can't he be this entertaining in his movies?

  • wait, who the hell would ask Tim Allen this question?

  • what? WHAT!? I was stupid and thought AFI (the band) was asking random celebs their favorite movies... >.< Wow I'm stupid... lol
