That makes for a much higher power-to-weight ratio. Given this, it's completely believable--actually, expected--that the new car is around 0.5 seconds faster.

So the 350/370z are good for top end but not off the line. My best friend has a 40th anniversary edition 370z and my 335i beats it....
@peterjg001 Of course it won't be as torquey as a twin turbo inline six from the 335. Twin turbo's always give you a flatter torque band. But for a V designated engine, the VQ's are considered grunty offering max torque at only 4500 rpm's and 80-90% of the torque available pretty low. Another thing i love about the VQ is how rev happy they are. Butter smooth all the way till redline (not the 3.7). You're braging about a car that is in a totally different class and price point than the Z.

But once ya get the VQs above 3500, ya they're amazing...Definitely one of the best engines of all time, both 3.5 and 3.7. good specific output, and yes, very smooth and addicting sound...
@yellowmusicfreak The more torque, the slower it feels. The more horsepower, the faster it feels. Yeah, I get that slow feeling too but I've clocked my G to 60 in under 6 seconds and I beat a 04ish mustang GT off the line so its definitely not slow. Not super fast but plenty good enough for a Grand tourer plus I get 27 mpg highway. The only problem with the FM platform is the weight. G weighs almost 3400 lbs and the Z is only 150 lbs lighter.
Low end torque is actually better for acceleration, and also depends where it hits on the power band. I too own a G35 coupe (06 MT) I wouldn't say its fast, but its quick!
I recently test drove my friends 335i...My god, the low end torque on that thing is incredible. Once you step your foot on the gas, the car takes off like no other.
@Jamzkangster The 335i has turbo's. Anything turbo charged will have gobs amount of torque where ever it spools up and in the BMW's case, they have figure out a way for the turbo's to spool up earlier. The regular 330i is much slower. 90% of the torque is available right after 2500 rpm on the VQ and 70-80% available right before 2500 rpm. For a naturally aspirated motor, that's damn good. Look at the dyno sheets.
@dukviper90 True which is why I said it depends where the torque hits. Torque = acceleration, HP = speed. But since our cars are RWD, even if we had gripload of torque or HP lets say coming from a TT or SC, it's hard for all that power to get on the ground. I just disagreed with more torque = slower it feels.
@Jamzkangster Hp = output. Hp doesn't propel you. Torque = acceleration which is directly proportional to speed. Remember Horsepower is just a way of measuring the power the torque is producing. It's like meter and inches, a unit of measure. The smoother the engine and the more torque it has usually feels slower. M3's scream like hell so they feel fast. The IS-F though is fast feels much slower than the M3 when really its only 1-2 ticks behind. That engine is a low reving torque monster.
@dukviper90 no that's wrong. The first part is right. But torque makes it feel fast. You got it backwards. Hence why when you have a single big turbo you don't FEEL the peak torque until the tach starts flying up.

@peterjg001 For the Nissan 350z that does 0-60 in 5.5 you're talking about, it probably the 2003-2005 model because the 2006-2008 has more horse power and yes it does 0-60 in 5.2s for the 06-08 model.
If a 2006-2007 G35 coupe with M/T which is heavier than the 350Z does 0-60 in 5.4s, then the 06-08 350Z should be able to do 0-60 in 5.2s.

I have a 370 GT and a Supra twin turbo VVTI. My Supra eats the 370 and I've smoked so many M3s and Z4s in it. It's a factory standard car and it's a monster.

Is this thing, the synchro rev match, optional or it comes in every 370Z,... or you turn it on & off? The fun part of buying a sport car is you been able to change gears, braking and accelerating, doing your foot work, toe & heel and all, keeping the engine in the right rev all the time. My son just both a 350Z 2008 and I could never drive it around any other way. I said even driving, not racing. Amazing, this guy thinks it is a cool feature! I tell you,...some sport car drivers!!!
i prefer the Z to the GT-R, cause it's more direct (less electronic) and is better in cornering (0.97G for the Z vs 0.90G for the GT-R) and i love the way the Z sounds! I love the 350Z and 370Z :)
I love a stick+rwd as much as the next guy but you have seriously got to be kidding me. The Z could never come anywhere near competing with the GT-R in any way, not even if you threw a TT kit in there. 4WD and Dual clutch transmissions are the way of the future with speed.
The Z is a great car, I'd have gotten it over my G37 if I didn't need back seats, but don't be so ridiculous as to compare it to the GT-R. If you actually took each for a drive you would never think like that again.

Love this new shorter wider Z. Great to see some retro styling but not too much at the same time. Great little car at a decent price, fun as hell to drive.
That being said this guy's voice and style is very uninspiring.
M3 if you can afford it. Remember, the M3 can be an everyday car with rear seats and a usable trunk. It's sounds silly, but for and everyday car, you want those amenities.

300zx was an awesome car....but this one is good too. A twin turbo most definitely would make a good option, it would keep the weight lower than a small V8. Got to hand it to Nissan (especially the Infiniti division), they make good cars. In fact, my favorite import cars....still not sure whether I would buy a Camaro SS or this, probably a Camaro SS though, even though I respect the hell out of this car and it handles awesome.

i prefer the Z to the GT-R, cause it's more direct (less electronic) and is better in cornering (0.97G for the Z vs 0.90G for the GT-R) and i love the way the Z sounds! I love the 350Z and 370Z :)

I love a stick+rwd as much as the next guy but you have seriously got to be kidding me. The Z could never come anywhere near competing with the GT-R in any way, not even if you threw a TT kit in there. 4WD and Dual clutch transmissions are the way of the future with speed.
The Z is a great car, I'd have gotten it over my G37 if I didn't need back seats, but don't be so ridiculous as to compare it to the GT-R. If you actually took each for a drive you would never think like that again.

Genesis is such a copy of Mercedes Benz front and BMW tail in appearance with a lame engine. Hyundai did this on a cheap vehicle called sonata too(with Jaguar's tail light, the company has always been coping from other famous well known car companies. such a shame of Asia. go compete with those shit Chinese car companies.

300zx was an awesome car....but this one is good too. A twin turbo most definitely would make a good option, it would keep the weight lower than a small V8. Got to hand it to Nissan (especially the Infiniti division), they make good cars. In fact, my favorite import cars....still not sure whether I would buy a Camaro SS or this, probably a Camaro SS though, even though I respect the hell out of this car and it handles awesome.
