It just is so sad, I lost a friend to the same thing, he was the same age. Richard was so great, met him several times. it is so sad to know he went so very young. Beautiful tribute to him.

I'm so sorry to hear he is gone...like others, I watched him on Days of Our Lives...and he was great on B5. His characters always seemed so down to Earth. He was an 'anchor' for every show he was on...other actors could spin out of sight, but Richard kept it 'anchored"...which allowed for the best acting from others. Blessings on Richard and his Beloved Family...and thanks, Richard for all you gave us!
Solid acting, humour, satire, pathos, excellent writing. It will be many, many years, if at all ever, that something of this magnitude is created again. From the very first to the very last scene, it was truly magnificent. When cast members sadly depart us, it is for the reasons mentioned above that they are fondly remembered, and greatly missed. Thank you to JMS and all the cast and crew that breathed life into the scripts.
When historians look back on the entertainment industry of the late 20th and early 21st century, I believe Babylon 5 will be viewed in the same light as the novel War and Peace. It has a huge story arc, which covered not just years, but centuries, interlaced with smaller arcs, but all the time heading towards the conclusion of the story, which is really the beginning of another.
what r u? ALIVE!!! EVEYTHING ELSE IS NEGOTIABLE.....REST IN HEAVEN MY FRIEND ALONG WITH ANDREAS AND THE REST OF THE OTHER HUMAN-NON HUMAN SOULS..... WHEN U DIED, A PART OF ME HERE ON EARTH DIED TO........AD ASTRA-AD INFINITUM.........
The music to Sleeping in Light was very touching. Thanks for this great video. BTW, I have the CD for that last episode. It doesn't make me cry as much as the episode did, but it is magnificent.
Very nicely done. I know a person who has survived cancer, I wish he would pay close attention to the part between 1:00 and 1:17. You'd think that people who survive cancer would be honored at having a second chance at life in order to right their wrongs, or change their ways. Unfortunately, it isn't often so. It is apparent that some souls do not evolve at all, while others do so in leaps and bounds within a lifetime. I pity those who don't use this chance to change their ways.
I survived what was supposed to be a terminal illness... and I'm grateful to have recovered. I'm not studying to be a physician, in hopes of volunteering with Doctors Without Borders. But that's just who I am... I liked to give back even before I was sick.
I just saw this tribute to Richard Biggs and wanted to express my appreciation. I wasn't a real follower or Babylon 5, but I did watch him on an earlier role on Days of our Lives where he played Marcus Hunter. He was much loved by Days fans, too.
I will always be sorry that we lost him so young. He was a great talent and so many people loved and appreciated him. Every castmate he ever had always spoke so highly of him.
The one thing that really surprised me in the second last episode of season 5 was that no one had stopped to send off Franklin and the last shot you see is Franklin walking towards a shuttle alone, in a deserted docking bay.
I thought that gave the audiendce a really great perspective on how things had changed in the show with each character
sadly he was never my fav charactor of the show... he was given a very pathetic role to play really... but did it very well under the circumstances. one of the longest running members of the cast im sure he will be missed dearly by all the b5 crew and of course his friends and family
The death of Richard Biggs came as a shock, mainly because he struck me as someone who looked after himself. On the show he seemed to be in amazing shape. It goes to show that once God decides to put our soul to rest, that's it.
All the more reason to never take life for granted. Treasure each moment you have and be thankful for what you've got.
Richard played an awesome character on an awesome show and will be remembered for it. Treasure that memory and in our hearts he still lives.
when i watch this vidieo it is hard to concentrate because these were the people i looked up to growing up. there loss is a blow to all of us. Rest in peace richard Biggs and may your memory never fade.
Yes, but you have to remember the others who contributed to the show's success; Bruce Boxleitner, Michael O'hare, Mira Furlen, Peter Jurasik - without them, muchof us wouldn't even know the names Richard Biggs or Andreas Katsulas to mourn over.
It's rare one ever gets to see a series with a meaning and revelance to today's political events. I think thats what makes Babylon 5 great, ten years after its finale.
At 1:28 that is Richard dancing with his wife (now widow) Laurie. That was from the celebration after the Shadow War. That one scene alone makes this video all the more poignant. Oh, and shut up Mortimersnerd. TT did not say HE made the video.
The aorta is the largest blood vessel in the body, attached to the heart. All blood that passes from the heart to anywhere else in the body except the lungs passes through the aorta first.
An aneurysm is a weakening in a spot of a blood vessel (usually arterial) wall, causing it to swell outward like a balloon. If caught in time, it can be corrected. But if it bursts, even in a lesser artery, it can be devastating (in the brain it's called a stroke).
Î didn`t know that he died!! I was (and still am) a big fan of B5 - last I saw from Richard was his appereance in the "Dawn of the dead" special (great, great, great!!!!!) I am sorry he passed away, though I didn`t know him. He was part of a show which had a big influence on my life. Thanks for being Franklin, Richard!!
Richard Biggs played a character that should be a role model for anyone who wants to become a doctor themselves, dedicated to preserving life and unflinchingly standing by his principles...he made the role his own and is sorely missed. rip Richard
A few months ago I purchased the entire Babylon 5 collection cause it was a serie that I couldnt completely follow up when I was still a kid living at home in the 90's. Yesterday I finished the final disc that I had to watch and went online to start looking what happened with all the actors. It pains me to see that two of them already passed away. I dont know any of them personally but be sure that you made me smile. Enfin, just wanted to write that down.
Unfortunately, the knowledge makes it even harder to watch. I knew rather quickly about Richard's death. Andreas not so. But re-watching B5 this weekend was kind of difficult because I knew they were gone.
Rest in Peace Richard. We just had our 30 year high school reunion in Minot ND. You were missed along with about 10 other classmates. You came a long way from acting in the "Wiz". mschwan.
I love how you also included the last music score in the dedication - as someone who grew up watching and loving Babylon 5, this brought tears to my eyes!
As a total B5 fan I'd like to say thankyou for making this tribute. Richard Biggs was superb, as an actor, in the convention clips I've watched and in the anecdotes of his peers. He'll always be appreciated.
What a beautiful and moving tribute to a wonderful person and a talented performer. Thank you for making and sharing this.
"No matter the blood, no matter the skin, no matter the world, no matter the star: we are one. No matter the pain, no matter the darkness, no matter the loss, no matter the fear: we are one." --G'Kar of Narn
may he rest in peace. (did he eat to much bagna cauda?) no just kidding but thats the first thing that came to mind when i heard of his sleeping in light.
A fitting tribute to a great actor. I will be raise a glass and make "a toast to absent friends and memories still bright" on old years night. Rest in light
Rest in peace! Richard Biggs and Andreas Katsulas. Thanks for sharing your talents with us all and making B5 the best scifi series ever. You will both be sadly missed. Great tribute video. :)
What a nice homage to Rick Biggs. And it's all the more heart wrenching with the Sleeping in Light soundtrack playing in the background - the soundtrack of the last episode of the Babylon 5 series. It brought tears to my eyes. Well done, and thank you.
A burst aortic aneurism. It was very fast. It saddens me greatly. He is one of the best actors I've ever seen, but he also had a good heart, and a family he loved dearly.
I was a huge fan of B5 years ago. I just recently purchased Season 1 again and I just finished it, ready for Season 2. I didn't know he had died either. I just found this tribute this morning. Very sad. This is a great tribute to him.
I loved Babylon5; I still do. Im so sorry thats he's gone because to me he was a truly wonderful person and his loss is such a shock. RIP Richard sleep well.
I didn't know he had died until I recieved the DVD set recently--this was wonderfully done, and nice blend with the music from "Sleeping in Light." Touching piece by Christopher Franke that gets me sniffling every time. Great job.
This was a shock to me as well. I had only just began revisiting the B5 Universe again with the purchase of Season 1 on DVD a few days ago.
Mr Biggs you were obviously well loved on set and to those who knew you only as Steven Franklin, you did a marvelous job. I think the best thing I could say to this would be to quote Ambassador Kosh and Mr Straczynsky and say "We are all Kosh". With you gone I feel a piece of myself taken away as well.
The Loss Of Such A Great Man Is Tragic. To Lose Someone so inspiring is devestating. To The Family I'm Sorry for your loss. He is a Gret man and A Legend of our time.
wow i didnt know he passed. he was the most passionate character on b5. i was hoping mjs would do a reunion show kinda based on the last episode of b5( which brought a tear to my eye just like this tribute.excellent job.
i always liked the doctor, biggs made him so very human in a world where that sense of self could be so easily lost. He had foibles and was not perfect, in essence, a real doctor. Thank you Richard Biggs for doing what you loved, and bringing a smile to so many lips and a tear to so many eyes.
Amazing TribbleTrouble this brought me to tears. I only learned of the great man's death a few weeks ago and it broke my heart. I grew up watching him and Babylon 5 and I always had a soft spot in my heart for him and his character especially when he lost his way in one of the later seasons.
B5 is one of the best Sci-Fi series ever. Dr. Franklin was a very well played character. Richard Biggs allways looked like he was a great guy and I'm sure he was. Sad he died so young (It's weird, other sci-fi series have doctors that are excellent characters too; Zimmerman, Phlox)
I didn't do this video, which is why I didn't add my logo. The credits for this video are at the very end. I just don't have the Babylon 5 DVD's (want them, though, and saw the entire series & movies), or I'd have made my own tribute video. Thanks, though. His passing was a tremendous loss of a great actor, and a wonderful man.
For the most part, sci-fi space opera doctors are great characters. In addition to the ones DeXimE mentioned months ago, and of course Biggs as Dr. Franklin, there was Gates McFadden as Dr. Crusher on ST:TNG, and of course the late, great DeForrest Kelly as Leonard "Bones" McCoy on the original Trek (the less said about the ST:TNG Season Two doctor, Dr. Pulaski, the better — decent actress, lousy character).
His sentiments are so natural and basic, especially in light of the tremendous pain and suffering undergone by many in the pursuit of wars that begin with no consideration of possible consequences, but rather stretch on for years and decades from one country to the next. I can imagine what space will be like.
I cannot agree more or say it so succintly as my friend, Irish282, has just done. I wonder where I was, what I was doing that could have been so important that would occasion me missing this series when it first aired. On the other hand, I missed most of the Star Trek episodes, too. I suspect that more needs to be done to fully exploit these special EPICS in order to draw the dedicated viewers to see them.
I totally am in sync and in concert with YOU, COLORADOCLAIRE. I am saddened by the fact that he passed and also that I did not have the opportunity to enjoy him when He lived. Interesting how much ONE misses someone when they are no longer around. I like to tell people how I feel about them when they can know that, not when it is too late.
Having viewed the heavily laden action packed part of this package, Babylon 5, it struck me like a dash of cold water, that the human dimension of this series was missing. The component that this tribute to Richard Biggs would have been a welcoming addition to the "all action, all the time battles" of the other trailer, or collection of clips. This is the first time that I saw this actor. He is outstanding.
Believe me, the human dimension was a very powerful and key part of this series- it was the center of the whole plot, even the battles... even in the ships. Some ships had living components... and the shadow ships used human slaves for their CPU's- psychic human slaves were the strength of the shadows- and their downfall.
Ermmm, I will now go into all of the prior episodes to familiarize myself with the full featured series and gain a fuller picture of the doctor's accomplishments of which there have been many. Thank you, Tribble Trouble, I cannot say that enough, if you get my drift?
I like this show TribbleTrouble. The characters seem so natural with concerns that are believable. Richard was quite a loss. I am seeing him for the fist time. I am sorry that he is no longer with us; however, the quality of his acting, as depicted in these videos, will leave a lasting legacy. Continue and show us more. I am eager to see what you have wrought upon the GYT network. Thank you, my friend.
It just is so sad, I lost a friend to the same thing, he was the same age. Richard was so great, met him several times. it is so sad to know he went so very young. Beautiful tribute to him.

Well done. A fitting tribute.

Have a look at a similar tribute to the actor who played G'Kar as well. Search for tags "Babylon5 Andreas Katsulas".

what did he die of.
lopido 4 years ago
A burst aortic aneurism. It was very fast. It saddens me greatly. He is one of the best actors I've ever seen, but he also had a good heart, and a family he loved dearly.

A good tribute to one of the great actors of the most thought out, detailed, articulate, and sensible sci-fi ever made.

Its amazing so few knew he had died back in '04.
I've been a huge fan of the actor since his days on "Days Of Our Lives" back in the late 80s. I was truly saddened when I learned of his pasing.

I was a huge fan of B5 years ago. I just recently purchased Season 1 again and I just finished it, ready for Season 2. I didn't know he had died either. I just found this tribute this morning. Very sad. This is a great tribute to him.

I didn't know he had died until I recieved the DVD set recently--this was wonderfully done, and nice blend with the music from "Sleeping in Light." Touching piece by Christopher Franke that gets me sniffling every time. Great job.

I cryed the moment that i heard Mr.Biggs passed.
Easly this was the moment for all those how love B5 relized they can't bring it back... Andreas also passed. Very sad moments.

With you gone I feel a piece of myself taken away as well.

i always liked the doctor, biggs made him so very human in a world where that sense of self could be so easily lost.

RIP Richard Biggs we'll remember you.

Nice video dedication TribbleTrouble, good job.

COMALiteJ 4 years ago
