i can confirm this is indeed simon russell - alien frenzy, a particularly kind soul tracked it down by emailing mr. russell himself and sent it on to me :]

sounds like it could possibly be a slightly different mix (the bass sounds deeper in this version, but it could well be postproduction effects done for the show) but it is definitely the right tune.
