  • oh my fuck yeah

  • so cool i turned this up on to full blast on the speakers and BOOM every body was like WHAT WAS THAT!

  • @DeltaEcho85 dude good idea!

  • Was that actually full of passengers and a real cruise? If it is i wonder how there doing :P

  • @XxUpliftingTranc3xX it is a tiger cruise from hawaii to the main land

  • wow that was quick

  • @nascarrelic

It was an air show for the "tigers". At the end of some deployments you are allowed to bring guests on board to tour the carrier for a few days. They do an airshow for them during.

  • @navydude0985 The Tiger Cruise is the journey from Hawaii to the Main Land

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy yes. you are correct. and I being a night checker that didnt bring a tiger, got to work all night while day check did nothing. f***ing day checkers.

  • @navydude0985 Hated Tiger cruises. Bunch of goobers just making the chow lines 10x as long.

  • That reminds me of last night, fast but there was a boom, alright! :|

  • @TERRANCIO yeah, the boom was her leavin

  • @yoyoyoyoshua Its more fun if i think you spent a whole year thinking of a come back... lol

  • that bitch went fast

  • i dont get it.. is that like when it goes to a special faster speed or all the time?

  • @dragonyang1

When it gets to super sonic the air can't move out the way fast enuff and when the fighter brake's through you get that boom (sonic boom)

  • Wfat ship was this

  • it was the uss abraham lincoln

  • The Hornets computers does some of the work making it go into supersonic. My navy buddy says so too.

  • thats awesome he was about 700 mph i think... here in my town 2 planes f12 passed my windows almost exploded... oO

  • I heard the pilot did a "mach 2" in his pants.

  • Jets! The greatest invention of all time!!

  • ÜFF

  • my ski-doo can do a supersonic boom!

  • WOAH!!!!

  • cool :)

  • SHIT! Wish it was in ultra high quality :(

  • wew, now that was fast!

  • that thing came outta nowere!

  • hoooooooooollllllllllllyyyyyyy shit was he movin

  • OUTSTANDING!!!

  • looks like old sound needs to lose a few pounds.

  • haha sound was like "WTF wait up!"

  • that wuz funny az hell

  • hahahaha yeahh

  • @pimpilitous lmao!

  • That plane was doing about Mach 1.2 when he went past and considering that was an F/A 18 A or C that was even more rare because they have a top speed of Mach 1.8 to start with.. COOL

  • no one arsed about what type or speed the plane was

  • There is always one wanker in the crowd who just doesn't know enough to keep there Stupid comments to them selves..Maybe you couldn't care less what type of plane or how fast it might have been going but I bet there are some people who would like to know..

  • It was an F-18 and it was going, from the looks of it, just over the speed of sound. They wouldn't waste all that fuel to push it to Mach 1.8 (the F-18's max speed).

  • Pretty sure that you have no idea wtf you're on about dhl1986. Just because they can afford a full tank, it doesn't meant that they intentionally waste it all. He's right - m1.8 wouldn't be used simply because it's going to use too much fuel, as well as make the pass quite dangerous for those on the ship.

  • he was going about mach 1 because he didnt flash by

  • was that the Kennedy? If so i was on that ship when it happened

  • Jplayre is right that's why they never break it with anybody around. Permanent Ear damage is for real with vicinity sonic booms.

  • lol u wouldnt lose ur hearing from a sonic boom, a vapor cloud appears when theres a drop in air pressure around the jet it happens at sub and supersonic speeds, this thing was definately supersonic, notice how u dont hear it till it passes the camera, thats coz sound is travelling either with or behind the jet

  • well i believ they all were wearing there helmets with the soundproof earcups

  • nah, shattering glass is definitely possible from sound barrier breakage.

wiki defines it in detail. apparently it has a a lot to do with the shape of the plane, and the cone-shaped area that emits the strongest impact of the shockwave.

  • if a jet broke the sound barriar that close all those ppl would have lost their hearing

  • It didn't break it in front of them, it did far away. The pilot isn't dumb, he was already over the sound barrier when he passed.

  • not true, it's super loud but not to the point where you're going to start bleeding out the ears or something. I've been at a military air show with a supersonic flyby and it is insanely loud, but not that much different than just shooting a handgun without ear plugs or something like that. It hurts but not to the point of destroying your ears from that one time.

  • actually, depending on certain conditions, breaking the sound barrier can shatter glass.

i don't know the exact conditions, but it's detailed in the USA's noise pollution dialog.

it may depend on the rate of speed the sound barrier is broken at.

  • i blinked when the plane came

  • You're Correct man, I Study The Jets Aloooooot and You're Right

  • allright guys im gonna tell you how he did it. he climbed to about 35000 feet and dove. he was already supersonic before he got to the boat. he was going around mach 1.2

  • no way , he is doing close to 1100 mph

  • wayyyyy faster than mach 1.2, the F-16 cant go more than mach 2,cant go speed of sound

  • yes it can the f-16 can

  • @navydude0985 i thought it was common knowledge to know when you hear a jet go past after it did, the jet was moving faster than sound.

  • We should show this video to the rainbow conspiracy lady. She would think that the U.S. military is using alien technology.

  • 1.4 is 1400 and thats easly doing that

  • f 18 superhornet cant go that fast its top speed is about 1200 mph and mach 1.4 is not 1400 mph lol

  • whats the fastet ever?

  • Holly Crap....Nice...!!!

  • just for shits nd giggles the German word for this is: Überschallgeschwindigkeitsflugzeug! :D

  • Wow!! That was nice!!!

  • he just comes outa no wear lol

  • That's the way to fly. Leave all sounds you make one second behind you.

  • And say that they want to make a technologie that passes the light speed ...

  • ppl stfu stop wasteing your time replying to my comment everyone has ther opinion okay

  • lol

  • just beacuse you heard the sound when it passed by that doesn't mean it was a sonic boom a sonic boom would scare the shit out of you so freakin loud but it was about 600 or 650 miles er hour it was close to a sonic boom plus weres the white cloud of vapor.

  • ur a dumb ass fuck arent you? the white vapor cloud is just the pressure...its already well past the speed of sound. also if it wasn't over the speed of sound why did the plane go over and the sound did 1.5 seconds later???

  • u need to chill and stop callin anyone a dumbass fuck ight damn niggas these days got to much junk i wasn't talkin to you

  • but i was talking to you. and i am definitly not a "nigga". so go be stupid like the rest of american children and listen to your "gangsta" rap music. oh and you said something about how you got into the 9th grade? they basically let you in and after that it all counts. tell me, did you make it to 10th grade?

  • we dont all listen to nigger rap you fucking idiot

  • You don't listen to MC Hammer?

  • look no need for negative comments

  • Maybe It Hit The Sound Barrier BEFORE It Flew By

  • yes it did.. but only when the air humidity is high the vapor is visible. that's not all times..

if i've bad spelling, Sorry I'm from the Netherlands xD

  • RIGHT!!!!

    Very good!

  • You are wrong, there is a sonic boom in the video.

  • i just notice there is thanks for handling things nicely last time some person called me a dumbass but i studied sonic booms and this is one of them i heard it to i always thought you had to see the vapor cloud of air molecules in order to see it

  • the vapor cloud only happens when the aircraft actually breaks the sound barrier. the very moment of it actually. its called a transonic cloud. this jet was already supersonic when it went by

  • oh i see well it didnt look so fast XD

  • were the heck do you hear a sonic boom???

the real sonic boom happens as it passes through the sound barrier.

the sound you heard was all of the sound put together because it cant keep up with that f-18, thats why it was loud, not a sonic boom

  • It was Already flying the speed of sound/

only in some comments there is said that it's a sonic boom.

but the video says it's a Supersonic Flyby.

and yes it is a supersonic flyby.

  • sonic boom does not just happen at the moment when something passes through the sound barrier.

that bunching up of sound you describe is basically all a sonic boom is. It's not a magical explosion that happens when something accelerates past Mach 1.

  • DAAAMN...could you imagine piloting that thing ^_^ I love it how you dont even see em or hear em coming until they pass you

  • How fast was that?

  • Something like Mach 1.4 (1036MPH) ;-)

  • Wtf no its about 900 mph 1000 mph is 1.6 mach

  • thats well loud

  • Two words : HOLY SHIT

  • Very nice Luck you

  • WOW this is the best sonic boom i've ever heard on youtube. almost like in real life!

    excelent!!

  • Actually that wasn't a sonic boom. The plane was already traveling above mach 1 so the plane flies by, then you here the sound it makes. Quite cool I think.

  • yeah oke. but you always hear the sonic boom when he passes. couse you can't hear him at all when he approaches. when he is already passed you hear the sound.

(sorry for bad english. I'm from holland)

  • Actually no. You only hear a sonic boom when a plane accelerates from subsonic speeds (below the speed of sound) to supersonic speeds (above the speed of sound). When a plane already traveling faster than the speed of sound passes, there is no sonic boom. Just silence followed by the plane's sound after it passes.

(Don't worry about your english. It's good enough)

  • thaank you for the info;)

keep learning all the time :-D

    peace

  • *sigh* Wish I joined the RAF now.

  • aw shit. that looks like mach 2 to me

  • Its impossible to fly mach 2 that close to the ground the top speed of this aircraft at SEA LEVEL is only 1.6 mach and my guess he was going as fast as he culd on that pass

  • not if you dive into the speed.

  • ooouuhh shit, this F/A-18 is damn fast!!!!!!

  • This looks much faster than Mach 1.

  • this is ghost rider requesting fly by.

  • negative ghost rider, the pattern is full.

    dont do it mav.

    lets turn and burn! b00m

  • goodness gracious GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!

  • it's like when the millenium falcon blasting into hyper space

  • Who gets to pay for their hearing aids?

  • holy shit, that was amazingly fast

  • It makes my hair tingle

  • lOl i know it isnt now its the sr-71 blackbird!

  • stop shaking the damn camera so much idiot

  • OMFG thats a fats jet

what i want too know if it is the fastest aircraft (exept the sshuttle) in the world

seems like it since the whole entire jet was fastr then the sound by like 3 seconds amazing!

  • i would want to be the pilot it be most funnest bit

  • lol, that cruise they are on, is an aircraft carrier.

  • haha funny idiot... its called "cruise" when you stay at a steady airspeed.. like cruise control for cars smart ass...

  • Wow with the hate. My fucking bad for misreading the title. Way to be an egotistical prick.

  • StySho168 is right the speed of sound is actally mach 1.0 which is 770 miles per hour and if you want to learn more about the speed of sound go look at wikipedia

  • 761.2MPH, at Sea Level, standard day. Exceeding Mach 1 produces two shock waves, which are heard as a double bang...strangely absent in this video. At the range this aircraft was to the spectators, it not only would have permanently damaged ears, but could possibly have caused bodily injuries as well. Has anybody ever seen what a supersonic F-111 on the deck does to a saguaro cactus? It pretty much turns it into something which might work well in a salsa. :)

  • Damn, you know of any video of that F-111? Id like to see that!! You are right though, a real sonic boom at that altitude and range, would indeed bust eardrums, and the windows in the carriers superstructure! No matter, that dude was a movin regaurdless!!

  • It was an Air Force training video from the early 70's. My dad was one of the people involved in making that video. It may very well be on YouTube somewhere, but I wouldn't know where to even BEGIN to look.

  • good god i wouldnt wanna be the pilot lol

  • Damn I would!

  • how fast do u go when you break the sound barrier?

  • I believe once you hit M1.0

  • isnt that like called mock 1 or something?

  • mach 1 ya

  • At different altitudes and air densities, sound travels at different speeds. For the most part, 720mph is considered mach 1 at 500 feet, but at ground level it can be as low as 650mph (depending on air density and humidity.)

  • Yup, it depends greatly on DA, density altitude...and air temperature is the biggest factor in determining the speed of sound.

  • awesome

  • "The United States, of course, is the sole state with preeminence in every domain of power — economic, military, diplomatic, ideological, technological, and cultural — with the reach and capabilities to promote its interests in virtually every part of the world."

  • too bad the united states economy is going into a recession

  • It already is. There are ups and there are downs but actually this time it could develop into a full blown depression! And what always happens to end a depression?

  • a war, that'll boost your economy

  • ha ha ha yeah

nah the last time the US was in a real war

was back in WWII. We saved even yer arses then. There just aren't any worthy opponents left anymore. C'mon once the cold war ended war is just a sideline... Right?

  • aha usa lost in Vietnam, an embarrassing defeat, i was wikipedia and was researching it and found out that the usa lost like over 500 aircraft, they spent 150 billion dollars on that war, it nearly sent them broke! i reckon china has the super power now.. its all in numbers mate!

  • If you want to be silly then be my guest from down under but... We didn't lose in Korea, we did not 'lose' in nam we quit and as for China you've GOT to be kidding. Please do not embarrass your self by calling China a super anything! Sheesh It will never be half of what the old Soviet Union was and never will be! Read some history, China gets invaded and dominated, they don't want to lose their sales contracts with Wal-Mart! Don't you Aussies always come to the wars we start anyway?

  • lol exactly, you quit, you lost!! the Americans retreated licking there wounds. well yeah your right America is a super power, but still its in a recession, no one can afford to keep their houses anymore.. Australia on the other hand, we're doing fine, yes we do go to your wars because is Australia is becoming more an more americanized, just like every other English speaking race.

  • If you even THINK the richest country on earth is in the situation of "no one can afford to keep their houses anymore" I'd wonder what blend of propaganda it is that you are being fed. Oh and yes Australia is a first world nation specifically because it is like America, with all the foibles that go along with it. If it weren't for British colonization Australia would be a 'least developed country' filled with Aborigines!

  • As it is ya got about 22 million people, hell that's less than Iraq fer Christ's sake! shush up that down under muttering and let the big boys on the top of the world get on about the business of running things... heh heh

  • Poyter789, are you REALLY that ignorant of your own history? Australian troops fought in VietNam also, so I guess your country retreated, licking their wounds as well. Korea was a win for the US. The DPRK tried to "reunify" Korea, with the help of Communist China and the Soviet Union...and they failed...end of story.

  • We lost more aircraft to SAMs and AA. We had a TEN to ONE ratio for shooting down MiGs in Vietnam. Win or Lose, USA will fuck you up.

  • @poyter789 And thanks to this plane, its economical.

  • If the jet was traveling at 770.00 mph and the speed of sound in about 762 mph then you will not here the jet blast until the jet has passed you by.

  • plane gets past them before you hear it

  • Dang!

  • that waz fast

  • Nice to see a "real" sonic boom vid on YouTube. There are so many vids of planes on the cusp of breaking the sound barrier (a pressure induced vapor cone does not mean you've crossed over the sound barrier, just that you're running on the edge of mach 1, 300 feet above sea level in humid conditions) Thnx for the post.

  • wonder if they even have nitrous in these babes!!!!

  • There are nitrous on these planes. Just that they are called AFTERBURNERS!

  • oh thanks

  • So fast. I love it. Thats unbelievable.

  • I have to believe the sound is out of sync on this video. You'd expect to hear the boom after the plane goes by, but not THAT long after. By the time you year the sound, it is at least twice as far away as it was when it passed you, which means it would be going Mach 2.

  • nah dude its real time the jet is just going fast i was there believe me

  • I don't believe you. It's a full second between the plane passing you and the sound arriving. Sound at sea level travels about 1100 ft/s, and that plane wasn't 1100 feet away.

  • watch closely im at the "crotch" of the ship and by the time the you hear the sound he is at the bow so its maybe 500-550 feet. so its not that far. jet was supersonic but only about mach 1.2, f18's can only go about mach 1.8 and that is pushing it.

  • Navydude, thanks for the vid, but that Hornet is not supersonic. At that range, a sonic boom would have sent all of you to sick bay with ruptured eardrums. ;)

  • ur wrong

  • Sorry guy but your wrong....I've been as close or closer than that to dozens of them. Wrong frequency to burst the ear drum in an open space.

  • Wrong frequency? LOL! Its actually, EXACTLY, the right frequency to do exactly that. This is why the true sound of a sonic boom has RARELY been captured on a recording device. Its something that is felt more than heard. You've been close or closer to high-speed, subsonic passes, guy. If you HAD been close or closer to a supersonic pass, you'd know it...and you'd probably be reading lips. ;)

  • For real!! I had the experience of hearing a sonic boom as a kid, of course it was from a long distance, and we never actually seen an aircraft. It was in the news paper of my hometown about it. It was compared to a quick clap of thunder...but on a clear day. Come to find out, a military jet en route from one base to another, not sure which bases, but upon investigation the pilot of a F-16 doing manuvers somewhere in IL was tryin to "catch up" with the rest of his flight he reported!

  • Yup. I heard them all the time as a kid, since my dad was assigned to an F-111 squadron. A couple of times they were supersonic near town, and shortly after you'd see some poor shop-keeper outside with a broom sweeping shattered glass from his storefront windows of the sidewalk. The AF always reimbursed them for those accidental overspeeds. I heard them many more times as an adult while TDY at Edwards AFB.

  • The most impressive was the sonic boom from the Space Shuttle after reentry. So high up you could rarely see it, but the boom STILL made you jump and just about ripped your ears off.

  • Interesting info, thanks

  • You actually get two booms with the shuttle which is even scarier

  • Jake, you get two booms with every sonic boom actually. ;)

  • not always

  • Yes, always. ;)

  • Yes ALWAYS 2... one when the nose of the plane breaks the barrier and the 2nd one when it passes over the tail of the airplane. It's a fact.. look it up in the Library of Congress.

  • not all planes have a tail
