It's reactionary dentine.If a moderate bacterial stimulus is spaned over a period of time, there is a time for a pulp to react with a barrier. If it feels hard at probing, manifest no scaling when examined, it is left under a good base to promote more dentine growth thus more distance between a pulp and cavity.
Dont mind the color, it is normal. It's not like the dentist left a heap of germs at the bottom and covered it with nice filling :)
@acoliteofphill if you see in the X- ray it has poor adaptation in the distal side of the molar (that would be your left side in the lower middle molar) this could lead to filtration and accumulation of bacteria, caries and probably infection so it does need to be removed, actually once he opens is he discovers caries that already found its way in ;) this happens a lot on restorations this large... hope I helped a little
i dont get it.. how come there is decay under the filling? please explain... did the dentist fill his tooth wrongly? he left an air bubble? now they have to fix it? please do explain.. im getting paranoid cuz i just got a filling done...:(
well for a matter of fact i have OCD and many other mental disorders.. and dont you use these disorders to "tease" people... u dunno how life is having mental ilnesses
@purpleloover To answer your question why there is caries under the filling: If you are not good at cleaning your teeth after you've had a filling placed, a cavity might form in the margin between the filling and the tooth. It's important to understand that a filling only stops the carious lesion from progressing to the pulp of the tooth (i.e. the nerve). It will however not prevent further cavity formation. If you don't floss and brush your teeth regularly you will get new cavities.
@66jesko if you are talking about the dark coloredd substance; it's tooth decay. Gums are not visible with the dental dam in place.Some of it is just mis colored dentine. Th edentist will find out what is what according to the hardness of the substance
well from your point of view you probably cannot as well as the dentist who is treating the patient. whenever an existing restoration is replaced, some healthy tooth structure is always removed.. it's inevitable.
for me that molar need Endodonthic T. why because the decay it to deep and in 2 years or less need the endo. All depend on the stimulation on the dentin.
no matrix band?

@Belieberfeverrrrrrrr
in some cases teeth return to normal function as long as 4 weeks after trauma.
On the other hand, contaminated pulp won't heal on its own, so root canal is deemed necessary
Go to a good dentist who knows how to deal with traumatic injuries of teeth.
besthost 8 months ago
Your tooth, on the other hand, could be someting worse - an exposed ischemic pulp
It s difficult to tell without seeing the patient. You might be the case for root canal

That's what happens when you fill teeth with composite shit: The material shrinks after a time and cavities under the filling come up............. :(

@1337NoFear1337
This big black hole after preparation is nothing more than a pulp chamber projecting through the very thin layer of reactionary dentin

not necesserlly
because the anatomy of the pulp is toward the mesial half of the tooth
and the presence of such a deep restoration favored the formation of secondary dentin
weshlfage 2 years ago
Oh, I see secondary decay.
I cannot distinguish between healthy enamel and the existing restoration. I think this dentist destroyed healthy dental tissue.

Does this tooth have a carie? they narrator doesn't ever mention if it does.
I thought deep undecuts were not made with composite fillings because of the bonding technique.
