  • um im a lil puzled why you didnt crumb coat your cake befor adding the fondant.

  • @SparkPolish719 Thanks for watching......check out the other photos of my fondant that some of my subscribers made on my facebook page. They came out beautiful! Have a great day!

  • I don't have crisco what can I use as a substitute

  • @lopez212451 Thanks for watching...use very little oil on your hands.............it so the fondant doesnt stick to your hands. Enjoy and have a great day. Hope this helped you.

  • I've sat here watching dozens of videos on how to make this. Your video is by far the most clear and concise. Thanks! I will def be using this recipe this weekend.

  • @LaPaloma180 Thank you for those kind words! Let me know how it turns out for you. Check out my facebook page and you'll see photos of the fondant that my followers made. Enjoy!! :)

  • @hirashuku Thanks for watching!! I wouldn't .........it doesn't take long to mix at all by hand.......its up to you if you want to give it a try in your mixer. Have a great day. I hope this helped you.

  • I like this video, but that's a lot of sugar,,, ^.^

  • @jessamay9180 Thanks for watching!!! :)

  • i mean like RIGHT after you put the 3 tablespoons in, before you but it in the microwave, do u stir it?

  • @sugarcandies101 After it comes out of the microwave mix it. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • @sugarcandies101 not before.........I meant to tell you this too........Have a good one!

  • hi. can the fondant be stored? if it can, how do i store it? and for how long can it be stored?

  • @sherizzianie Thanks for watching! As far as storing the unused fondant, make sure you rub some (crisco) on it, wrap plastic around the fondant, and place in an air tight container. I would only store no longer than a few days...... different climates make the fondant too hard to roll out. I hope in your area it will store ok. Thanks again, I hope this helped you out . Have a great day!

  • sorry for bothering you.... but when u put the 3 tablespoons of water in did you stir it?

  • @sugarcandies101 Yes, mix well, after you had the marshmallows and water in the microwave for about 30 sec or so. I hope this helped you, your not a bother. Have a great day!

  • Hi you really helped because my first try was a mess but in the bowl, then the counter it was plain smart.thanks!:P

  • Hi you really helped because my first try was a mess but in the bowl, then the counter it was plain smart.thanks!:P

  • @FreshMakeupByMandy Thanks for watching!!!

  • can u use 2 bags of marshmallows instead of 1 and a half if u need more?

  • @sugarcandies101 Thanks for watching............if you use two full bags it may make the fondant too stiff to roll out.............You could try the two bags, just keep an eye on it and see how much more water you may need to soften the fondant. Let me know how it turns out. Have a great day!

  • thankso much!!! it really helped!!!!!:)

  • thank you!! it really helped!;)

  • @sugarcandies101 Thanks for watching!

  • How long does this last? Or does the fondant expire?

  • @brunoisbeast1 Thanks for watching!! About a couple of days,I would think the fondant would loose its texture and taste if held onto for too long. Go to this web site ,and you'll see some photos of one of my subscribers who made my fondant...facebook/cherylshomecooking

  • I'm about to try this out on saturday! I was wondering how much fondant is created? like how big of a cake will it cover? :)

  • @LaAdriana94 Thanks for watching!! I covered two cakes-( 9 inches each) and had some fondant left over...........go to facebook/cherylshomecooking and I have some subscribers photos there, check them out...they made my fondant and it came out awesome!!

  • Is Crisco a liquid or a powder?

  • @qi09cpry Thanks for watching............It is a solid, its so the fondant doesn't stick to your hands. If you dont have Crisco out in your area, use very little oil. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • I saw a previous fondant recipe youtube video and the girl said you had to refrigerate do I have to do that or can I just use it the same day I make it?

  • @jcgonzalez91 Thanks for watching!!! I didn't refrigerate mine at all .I used it right away. Check out these fondant photos that another subscriber made my fondant. It came out awesome for her facebook/CherylsHomeCooking. You'll see the posted pics of her cake there. She used the fondant the same day too. I hope this helped you

  • I like this recipe tutorial ... I had one question do you HAVE to use "dirty icing" or whatever before placing the fondant on top? im making a 3 tier cake so yea

  • @jcgonzalez91 Thanks for watching.!!.............Its up to you.I didnt use any icing. Go to this site facebook.com/cherylshomecooking............ and you can view a photo of my fondant, that one of my subscribers made,It came out awesome. I hope this helped you.

  • Can you do this with a less amount of all the ingredients??

  • @4401chloe Thanks for watching.............You could experiment with it and try using less, thats up to you. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • Fantastic tutorial! Just two questions. One, is the recipe that you use enough to cover the two cakes or did you make a second batch? And secondly, can I use this same fondant for making decorations to put on the cake?

  • @CMTLindberg Thanks for watching!! check out my facebook page.........CherylsHomeCooking check out the photo there. Its my fondant and she did a great job!

  • can i use buttter instead of crisco? :) im frm Singapore so i dont have that in here.

  • @TYPICALTRICIA Thanks for watching.......try using very little oil, its so the fondant doesn't stick to your hands while kneading. Have a great day!

  • This is a very informative tutorial! You don't only show the making of the fondant, but you also show how to use it to cover a cake. I was also always worried about using food color directly on the fondant because of how it can stain your hands. I really like your trick for always folding the fondant in, I will most definitely not be afraid of it now. Thank you!

  • @AnimeLuvr19 Thanks for watching! Thank you for those kind words! Let me know how you like the fondant once you try it. Have a great day!

  • @princess200847 I rewatched your video just before making it tonight and it turned out great! I am going to be using it to cover my mom and dad's cake for their 25th anniversary. Thank you again for such clear instructions!

  • @AnimeLuvr19 OH WOW....I feel so honored! Thank you!! :) Happy 25th to your parents!! Send me a photo of the cake I would love to see it. Thanks again for using my recipe. Have a great day!

  • So it doesn't stick to your hands, can you use butter instead of shortening?

    Thanks!

  • @RahaMasoudiMusic Thanks for watching.......well you really don't want the fondant to have a buttery flavor to it,try rubbing very little oil on your hands. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • great explanation..I truely learned how to make fondant..yeah!!

  • @yesenia06061980 Thanks for watching!! Enjoy! have a great day!

  • Hi, Just quick question. I dont have a silicone rolling pin. Do you think I can use a glass rolling pin?

  • @MegaLesley01 Thanks for watching!! Sure, I dont see a problem using the glass rolling pin.....the fondant should still roll out just fine. Hope this helped you.

  • Okay, I JUST made this, and at first, I was gonna come here to post that this recipe is garbage, due to the fact that the fondant KEPT STICKING to my island. I was about to throw in the towel, but then something told me to watch your video again. You said the magic words, "keep the board covered with powdered sugar." I used lots of it, and it didn't work, until I LOADED my island counter with it; and you were right! It came out perfect! Thanks a bunch! You have a new subscriber!

  • @MzTJones80 I am so happy the you watched again and used powered sugar on your island so the fondant wouldnt stick............So happy it turned out for you! Have a great day!

  • Question...does this fondant dry out quickly? I mean, if I make it and cover my cake today, will it still be soft and dough-like the next day? Thanks!

  • @MzTJones80 I made my cake, put the fondant on it............ the next day the cake and fondant was still good for me. It should be ok for you as well. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • @princess200847

Thank you! I'll will give this a try!

  • Very informative! I have to try this!

  • @MzTJones80 Thanks for watching!

  • very good video i have been looking for a fondant recipe

  • @thepetal5 Thanks for watching!! have a great day!

  • @alex450030873 Why didnt you use frosting on the cake, does it taste good without frosting?

  • @alex450030873 Thanks for watching!! Yes it did taste good!,but if you wanted to,you could frost a thin layer before you place the fondant on the cake.

  • Can you use a powered mixer?

  • @PLURTHEMUSIC Thanks for watching..its best to mix it with a fork ,the way I did in the video. I hope this helped you.

  • Hi there I was wondering how many grams your bag of marshmallows are 250 or 400? Thanks so much ;)

  • @CMedeiros09 Thanks for watching............if I have this correct 200 grams is 7.05 oz. and 400 grams is 14.10oz............ so 1 pound is about 453 grams....and I used 2 pounds of the sugar. I hope this helped you.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I'm going to be trying this for the first time tomorrow for my daughter's slumber party cake. Your video was by far the best I've seen!! Thank you, thank you!! Keep the videos coming, I plan on trying some of your other recipes too. Have a wonderful day

  • @weez0405 THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! Its very easy to make,I hope the party is a success!! Let me know how the fondant worked for you. Have a great day!

  • hi, i have another question, do you have to dirty ice the cake before you put the fondant?

  • @joellejonas497 I didnt and the fondant stayed perfect on the cake. You can if you want to, Ice the cake before putting the fondant on,again that is up to you. I know you can do it both ways. Let me know how you liked it. I hope this helped you too. Have a great day!

  • hi im 14 and i love to bake and ima try to make this fondant, what flavor cake batter do you recommend with the marshmallow?

  • @joellejonas497 Thanks for watching!! I like devils food or chocolate cake...but its up to you, whatever flavor you like best. I just like the chocolate with the fondant. I hope this helped you.

  • THAT'S GONNA BE EXTRA SWEET... but hey isn't that how fondant's supposed to taste?

  • @xiaosecretability Thanks for watching.........and its really good! Have a great day!

  • @HaRiSa19 Thanks for watching!!! I'm so happy it turned out great for you!! Have an awesome day!

  • Hi Cheryl! Thank you so much for this video! i tried it out and it turned out great! :)

  • Do you have to bake the fondant or can you eat it right away?

  • @Nubbecl Thanks for watching!! Oh yes its fine to eat right away............Have a great day!

  • Hi! I just want to ask, do i add only half a pound of sugar to the marshmellows, or gradually, all 2 pounds of it? Thanks for making this video! It's very simple for me to follow! (:

  • @superboy8449 Thanks for watching!! It is very simple to make. You can gradually add the sugar and mix well, or add all the sugar like I did....just make sure and mix it well with the marshmallow. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • Awesome, thanks so much for your reply. I will certainly try it out. :)

  • @olivers333 Your welcome!

  • hi from australia... i loved your video... i love your accent too! ok, my question for you is... can i store unused or cut offs in plastic wrap just like the ready made fondants you buy??? Thanks

    sonia :)

  • @olivers333 Thanks for watching!! As far as storing the unused fondant, make sure you rub some (crisco) on it, wrap plastic around the fondant, and place in an air tight container. I would only store no longer than a few days...... different climates make the fondant too hard to roll out. I hope in your area it will store ok. Thanks again, I hope this helped you out Sonia. Have a great day!

  • how long long arey you supposed to chill the fondant before placing it on the cake?

  • @vonquiqui123 Thanks for watching!! I used the fondant right away,I didn't chill it at all

  • @MegaLesley01 Thank you so much for watching! Have a great day! :)

  • she's awesome; love the video!

  • @cheetocairo Awwww, thanks for those kind words!! and Thanks for watching! Have a great day!

  • Did you use just one batch for both cakes?

  • @moogiesworld Thanks for watching! Yes I did use only one batch for both cakes. Have a great day!

  • Can i use margarine or butter,in my city i can´t find Crisco ?

  • @1314paulinha1 Thanks for watching! Use very little butter or margarine..............its so your hands don't stick to the fondant, but you don't want your fondant tasting like butter,so thats why you use very little. Let me know how it turned out for you. I hope this helped you. have a great day!

  • great! I have tried many recipes for sugar paste pa many times were not good your recipe is easy, just one thing but if I do not have a microwave oven as the oven does not melt in the oven?Paola roma

  • @paolasuriano Thanks for watching!! try using a double boiler on the stove but be carful not to burn the fondant as it will melt quickly. Let me know how it turns out. Enjoy and have a great day!

  • Can I put them at fridge and reheat them at the microwave?

  • Can I store them on fridge and reheat the fondant at the microwave?

  • @sweetblueberrykiss Can you store the fondant? Is that what your asking? If thats the question.........you can store the fondant wrapped up in plastic wrap, but make sure and rub crisco or little oil over the fondant before you wrap it then put it in an air tight container . I hope this helped you. Thanks for watching and have a great day!

  • this video just saved my day! i have to make a zebra-cake cupcakes for my sisters party tomorrow, so i'd need some fondant ... but since i don't have time to go shopping for all the ingredients, and i don't have time for the fondant to cool off in the fridge ... this recipe is amazing! thank you soooooo much!

  • @TheYankiebar THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! I'm glad I helped you out!! I hope your sisters party is a blast! Good luck making the zebra cupcakes. I know they will love them! Send me a photo if you can. Have a great day!

  • @TheEmily360 Your Welcome!!! :)

  • wow we love you so much and god bless you

  • @GypsyLatinLove OH WOW............... THANK YOU FOR THOSE KIND WORDS!!! :) Thanks for watching!! Have a great day!

  • how manyy cups are in a pound ?

  • @TheEmily360 Thanks for watching!~ There are 4 cups in a pound of powered sugar. I hope this helps you out

  • @ princess200847 how many drops should i take if i want a dark red? for my velvet cake?

p.s you are the first one to really help me !!! thank you <3

  • @emilylovestvd THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! As far as the color RED, I know the red takes several drops. Its best to add a couple drops of red at a time, then kneed it, and keep adding drops for the right color you need or want. It will take several. I hope this helped you out. Have a great day!

  • Thank you very much for answering.I appreciate! I will try a small amount and i will let you know.Thanx once again!

  • @pinelopi75 Your welcome!! Enjoy and have a wonderful day!

  • 3:20

    LOL !!!

  • hi i would really like to use your recipe but what would i do if crisco is unavailable?

  • @Valgal2406 Thanks for watching...............the crisco is only for your hands, so the fondant doesn't stick to it and its easier to roll out. Try putting (lightly) some oil on your hands, they may work. I hope this helped you out. Have a great day!

  • Perfect recipe-Thank you very much! I would like to ask you if i can storage the marshmallow fondant to my freezer and if yes for how long?

  • @pinelopi75 Thanks for watching!!................I wouldn't store it in your freezer ,it may get to dry and hard to roll out again,if you want, try just a little piece of fondant, and see how hard it is after two days in your freezer. Its best to use right away,or you can store it wrapped in plastic wrap, and in an air tight container on your counter for two days. Its really best to use right away. I hope this helped you. Have a great day!

  • Hi, i am most eager to try your recipe and hope very much that i can get it to work :)

I was wondering if you can tell me how much confectioner's sugar to use please? I know you said 2 pounds but all our bags where i am from are in grams.

    Would that be 907g ?

    thanks :)

  • @PinkCammy Thanks for watching!! 2 lb = 907.184 g. I hope this helped you out. Let me know how it came out for you and how your family enjoyed this fondant. Thanks again for watching!

  • You are awesome thankyou!!!!!!!! So helpful!

  • @Laurasusana1988 Thanks for those kind words!,and thanks for watching!

  • No longer than it takes to cover the cake..about a minute (this is the remaining part that is cut off of the cake) I return it to my counter to knead it. If I ever store any left over fondant I always use several layers of saran wrap w/rubberbands to avoid it being exposed to air.

  • @THECAKEPIPER The only thing I can (maybe suggest) is rub some crisco over the left over fondant before you kneed it out again. See if this helps it NOT to crack or dry out. Let me know if this works. I hope I helped you out.

  • @THECAKEPIPER Yes, I've tried the crisco in the past also, but it didn't seem to help either. What would happen if a small amount of water was added to it a second time, have you ever tried that? Water and maybe reheating a little? The first go round works just fine, it's just when I trim it (from the cake) and try to reuse that part it just doesn't stick together well and then starts to crack. This has been throughout different seasons so I fell confident it isn't a humidity issue...puzzling.

  • @THECAKEPIPER Hmmmmmmmm all I can say is try a little water and reheat it, see what happens. This is puzzling........... I dont have a clue why the trimming would crack. If I can think of anything I'll let you know. Hope this helped you.

  • @princess200847 Thank you and thank you for posting the MMF video, it truly is the best :) I hope others reading may have clues in why this happens. I just hate throwing out so much when it could be reused. I'll continue working on it and will let you know if the water and reheating does the trick...until then, happy cake decorating. God Bless:))

  • @THECAKEPIPER Your Welcome!! Happy cake decorating to you too...:) Have a great day!

  • I found your video several months ago and have used it on many cakes since then. I love the taste and look of the fondant. The only problem I've had each time is after I roll and place it on the cake then go back to reuse the remaining fondant it doesn't work as well as the first part does, it's always much dryer and cracks, doesn't stick together as well as the first part (all from the same batch) I've tried placing it in the microwave to soften but it's still doesn't work, any suggestions?

  • @THECAKEPIPER Thanks for watching and trying my fondant!! How are you storing the left over fondant, and how long after you made it, are you trying to use it again?

  • Thnx for posting this I made it your way

  • @jan12359 Thanks for watching!!! Have a great day!

  • sehr schön!!liebe grüsse aus germany!!

  • @887leroy Thanks for watching and thank you for those kind words~!

  • thank you so much for posting this video! i ahve always wanted to make fondant and i think i will be able to now...it is my lilsisters birthday party tomorrow and i wanted to put fondant on her cupcakes so this will work!!!<3 thanks so much:)

  • @lillyluvssoccer12 Thanks for watching! Happy Birthday to your lil sister! Have a great day!

  • Soo....whats fondant? and what is the root of the word? Thanks! =)

  • @fiandaca123 Thanks for watching! The word, in French, means "melting", coming from the same root as "foundry" in English. Fondant is one of several kinds of icing-like substance used to decorate or sculpt pastries. .. Rolled fondant or fondant icing, which is not the same material as poured fondant, is commonly used to decorate wedding cakes. I hope this helped you out.

  • I noticed in your list of ingredients you mentioned you need 2 pounds of powder sugar, but you only say to put 1/2 pound into the bowl after the marshmellows have melted. And to keep adding more to make it look doughy. But do you end up using all the sugar at the end.

  • @Jenni4er82 Thanks for watching!! Yes I used the full 2lbs.................I meant to say 1/2 at a time. Hope this helped you out. Have a great day!

  • @princess200847 Thanks for the quick response.

  • great video...easy instructions...but is there any way that the fondant can be less sweet...because I see it requires quite a bit of sugar...if I use less sugar will it change the texture...any suggestions I have an anniversary cake coming up in less than two weeks...and the person I'm making it for doesn't like anything too sweet...

  • @yeya25fosho Thanks for watching!..........it really isnt that sweet tasting....you could try using less sugar, and see how it turns out. Taste it as you go along making it. I hope this helped you. Happy Anniversary to your friend.

  • Great cakes and fondants!!! I am planning my daughter's first birthday, and will be doing at home cake with this fondant. Thank you so much Cheryl :) Your tutorial was easy steps to follow !!

  • @kookoolisa Thanks for watching!! Happy Birthday to your daughter! :)

  • I LOVE this video and recipe, It is so easy unlike others who use gelatin, glucose, and other things i can't even find... Thanks for this easy, delicious recipe!

  • @Javier32101 Thanks for watching!! :)

  • Oh and another question what happens if we have a lot of extra marshmallow fondant? Can we keep it in the refrigerator until we want to use it again? Like maybe for the next cake I make?

  • @RAWRILYXOXO1 As far as how long to keep the fondant...I am not really sure how long it will last, and still be soft enough to roll out to use again ( if your talking about over a week?). All I can say it give it a try, and see how the fondant is the next time you need it. If its stored wrapped up in plastic wrap, in an air tight container, it will last a couple of days, thats how long I only know. I'm sure it will last longer. I hope this helped you out. Have a great day!

  • @princess200847 It turned out great actually! It covered the whole cake and I still had left I've marshmallow fondant so I created a bow a polka dots on my cake:) again thanks for the recipe:D

  • @RAWRILYXOXO1 AWESOME!! :)....I bet it was a great looking cake!! Have a great day!

  • hii:) i love this video! umm... i was just wondering, the bag of powered sugar you used, was that 2 lbs or u had to use more than one bag? i want to try it out but im not sure how many bags of powered sugar i would need?

  • @sandylove15 Thanks for watching!! I used 2 lbs....but use some powered sugar on your working space to roll out the fondant so it doesn't stick............ and you can have the fondant more pliable for your cake or figures. I hope this helped you out. Have a great day!

  • Cool recipe! But I just bought one pack of the miniature marshmallows do you think it will be enough? I don't have time to buy another D: and I really wanna make this today :/ pls reply

  • @RAWRILYXOXO1 Thanks for watching............all I can is try it.............it may work out...........use the sugar to kneed the fondant.Let me know how it turns out for you! Hope all is well. have a great day!

  • I want to make fondant animals, would it be best to let the fondant rest a day in the fridge before making animals?! Looks like an easy recipe, can't wait to make it.

  • @sarasue343 Thanks for watching!! you don't have to wait.........I know one of my fans made this fondant and made flowers that she added to the cake....it came out awesome!! You could try leaving a little in the fridge just to see if wold be better for you. I hope this helped you out. Have a great day!

  • hi! great video but can you use big marshmellows when making this kind of fondant!?!

  • @MrPoochuck Thanks for watching!.........I would think you could, you would just use less, because of the marshmallows being larger. Let me know how it turns out for you.

  • @princess200847 yes it turned out great your recipe was amazing and the cake turned out perfectly!

  • @MrPoochuck That makes me happy! ") So glad everything turned out perfect for you!

  • YEAH, OH YEAH!!! SHOW THAT DAMN CAKE WHO'S "BOSS"!
