  • why would u do this????????

  • @lizweinchester Because sharpening them is a pain and wastes a lot of product

  • Thanks for the video been wondering how to get all the product out love your idea.

  • @MandyKayLopezTv Thanks!

  • I tries this and it didnt work for me i was holding the blow dryer on the pencil for like 20 minutes and nothing came out and it was noticable wet liquid and it still didnt come out i had to end up using a stick and pushing it through and that made a huge mess everywhere -____-

  • @Peachylex Did you have your blow dryer on high?

  • would this work with Urban Decay's 24 7 glide on eye pencills ?

  • @rachelmacqueen I don't know so I can't recommend. it. I've never tried it with those.

  • what brush would you recommend using to apply? I really want to depot my pencils, but I like the application factor of having a pencil its a convient way to apply and I feel like I have a decent amount of control. I know a standard eyeshadow brush would be too soft, but what do you think?

  • @megs3241 I like using a concealer brush to do it because it's a little bit stiffer than an eyeshadow brush.

  • geez you don't really get a lot of product in those pencils, do you..?

  • @mowNEEnuh Actually it doesn't look like much but it lasts for a long time.

  • I hate the plastic-y wood pencils. It's a pain to sharpen :\

  • @venuslovechain95 I agree.

  • did anyone try this with a curling iron? this is way faster...

  • You can always take the bottom off, and shove something down there, and it come's out the other side.. but this is a good way too.. nice job!

  • you can SHARPEN them! :) I didnt know until today! :D all u need it a big sharpener!

  • @msmusicaltheatergeek Yes you can definitely sharpen them. The only thing I don't like about sharpening them is that you lose a lot of product.

  • IT's better if u remove the cap that is on the top of the pencil

  • @LucasBorioMakeUp I don't like removing it but some people do.

  • so would this work if i just put it in the microwave?

  • @lightpinkpony Yes, but take the cap off. There's metal in it somewhere.

  • CAN U DEPOT A REGULAR EYELINER???

  • @FINESTNAILZ I don't recommend it. The Jumbo pencils are creamy in consistency and hold that consistency when depotted. I tried it with regular eyeliners and ruined them :(

  • Where can u buy NYX jumbo eye pencils??? =)

  • @arianna12345loveable I'm not sure where you live. Here in Canada I get them at PharmaPlus. If you go the NYX website they have a locator page where you can find the store closest to you.

  • thank you for the video :) I cannot seem to sharpen makeup pencils without a really sharp point poking me in the eye :P

  • i heard kids at the end

  • @NORTHERNRAISED415707 Yes you did. My kids always helped me record my videos and they liked to say goodbye at the end.

  • kool tip thanks!

  • hahaH WOW! this is GREAT! I was thinking 'hmm do I need to go visit my dad and "borrow" his work bench area in the basement to fiddle with my makeup lol!" this is much easier! Thanks for the great, insightful help!!

  • If you take the end cap off then the product will all come out at once and it doesn't make as much mess by splattering all over your container :) Also, if you heat the product in it's new container after it has been depotted, then it will slide down the sides and give you a nice, even surface.

  • the whie part at the top of the pencil comes off so woudnt it work fast it you held the blow dryer over the opening ?

  • @yawnabby91 I find it works just as fast when I leave it on, and it saves me the hassle of removing it. I guess it's all personal preference.

  • @PrincessPinkcat I find it's easier to use the same kind of dish, but put like a plastic top of a starbucks drink and put the pencil in the straw hole and put in in the microwave.

  • Can you do this with any cream pencil product?

  • @xBabiClox Any thick cream pencil product should be fine. I don't recommend it for thinner cream pencil products because I tried it with a couple of generic eyeliners and it didn't work well.

  • hi cant you sharpen these, i think if you do u lose the end part more in the sharpener right?

  • @missfashioneye Yes, you can sharpen them but you loose product. You not only loose the end part sometimes, but you also loose product that comes off with the shavings.

  • trying to do this i made a huge mess ! i had some on my wall and floor due to the air of the air dryer.

guess i'm just really messy ahah xD

  • @ihateyotubenames Yes, it's important to hold the pencil as steady as possible with the plyers or scissors.

  • @ihateyotubenames yu cn also put in the microwave its completely save

but yu can use a blow dryerbut either way microwave or blow dryer yu need plyers to pop the bottom off (the cap at the end)

  • @cashmerekc I don't take the cap at the end off when I use a blowdryer.

  • @PrincessPinkcat i know i was juss saying thts another way

  • @cashmerekc oh okay....lol... my comment was more like a question I guess... I was confused...you'll have to forgive me...I've got bronchitis and strep throat and because of the pain when I cough I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping so it doesn't take much to confuse me right now...lol

  • I just did this and I did 5 and it worked like a charm! thank you! they work as good the Make up forever face pain pallette doing it like this and insanely less expensive. Next on the list is turning pigments into pressed shadows. Thank you so much for the help!

  • @fallinfrenzies That's awesome! I'm so glad it worked out! I'll actually be doing a video on turning pigments into pressed powders this week.

  • score I will deff wait for it :) I got little things at the dollar store to mix in that have lids they fit like tons of product in and the are like little tubber wear things that people put salad dressing in, and they were a dollar but look really good, and it looks like paint lol. Also could you do a video on what all you do it your self stuff you do? I really want to get into mixing shades and pigments myself and makeing my own eyeshadow, or making masks at home maks.@PrincessPinkcat

  • isnt it just easier to microwave it???

  • @inseparablexMa Actually that's not easier for me - when you microwave it you have to take the end piece off with plyers, because it contains metal. Additionally, you have to position the pencil so that the product melts into the container and keep it that way - which is hard to do once the microwave door is closed. I just find it easier, cleaner and more efficient to do it with a hair dryer, although other people may find it easier with a microwave - it's all a matter of preference.

  • Why can't you just sharpen it? There is a big sharpener.

  • @tigerlovesstallion You can sharpen them, but when you sharpen them product gets wasted in the shavings. When you depot them there is no wasted product - you are able to use everything that was instead the pencil. Additionally, some people prefer applying them with a brush, which is easier if they are depotted. It's all about preference. Some people prefer to sharpen and others prefer to depot. I do both actually. I have some that are depotted and others that I sharpen.

  • My NYX pencils actually melted in my car. Well one of them did. It was pretty funny haha

  • @lilmzann Wow...that's too bad. I'm sorry to hear that.

  • I just watched another video where they took the jumbo pencil and melted it in the microwave for 30 seconds. That may be more convineaint than blowdrying it for 5 minutes. But i also cant help but think that its somewhat of a bad idea.... I would appreciate your input on this :)

  • @RAWRimmavampire Some people do use a microwave. I don't, because when you use the microwave if you don't remove the top at the other end with a wrench you will be putting metal in your microwave. Additionally, if you do remove it, you will wind up with product coming out of both ends and run a higher risk of burning yourself. Also, when you blowdry you have more control and can make sure the product goes into the container.

  • how many grams do you think that is?? just so i can get like a 5 gram jar or a 10 gram jar

  • @44idontknowhattoput I think you would need a 5 gram jar actually.

  • OMG! what a neat trick!! i was wondering if there was an easier way to get the product out of that tube! lol. i just started digging it out

  • @ishadowaddict This is actually pretty easy. It only takes about 5 minutes.

  • i totally like it.. it looks super easy.

  • @04plor Thanks! It is very easy.

  • damn that's a lot of substance in that pencil

  • @casanovaluver Yes, they do contain a lot of product. Thanks!

  • You have an ash tray, so you're a smoker. Which explains why your teeth are so yellow.

  • @prettyinteresting That's very observant of you but you're a little bit off actually. My teeth appear yellower than they are because of my lighting - which is why I usually have to post an annotation whenever I use white eyeshadow in a video - on camera with the lighting it looks like a pale yellow. What this has to do with depotting jumbo pencils is beyond me though....

  • @PrincessPinkcat nice job at that response. some ppl have nothing better to do than to find other things that bring ppl down cuz they have self esteem issues with themselves

  • also works great with wet n wild easy eyes cream shadow sticks. i got those at fred meyer buy one get one 50% off!

  • @glaubdran Thanks for the tip!

  • Umm, can u do the same to a jumbo lip pencil?

  • @holylovesmakeup16 Yes! The gold jumbo pencil that I use as a base for eyeshadows is actually a lip pencil. It depotted great and is still the same consistency as it was in the pencil.

  • this is awesome!! I also live in Ontario, :)!!

  • @TamarasMakeup Thanks! That's cool that you live in Ontario too!

  • Can you do this with other fat eye pencils? Thanks! I cant wait to do this!

  • @mindfulmami I've never tried it with other kinds of pencils, but I don't see why you couldn't.

  • i am so happy you did this video, ive been wondering about this and now i know i have to try it! 5 stars of course!

  • @MsGlitterVeins21 Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful for you!

  • awesome idea. ive never heard of it and now i want to try it!

  • @stranglecolors Thanks! it works really well and prevents wasted product from sharpening.

  • I had never heard of this or seen it done. I am loving your videos!! Being a mommy over thirty it is refreshing to see you do your thing!!

  • @curlyspeechtx Thanks! I'm so glad you like them!

  • Thanks for this! I had never thought of "depotting" these. Great for traveling in a kit! :)

  • Thanks! I'm so glad it was helpful for you.

  • This was so helpful! Oh, you can also buy NYX at CCO :)

  • Thanks! I'm really glad it was helpful. Thanks for the tip of where else to buy it too. People are always asking me so I'm sure they will find your comment very helpful/

  • omg i have these!!!! perfect im going to test this out!

  • Awesome!

  • Do those little NYX pans work?! Because I just depotted one of my shadows, and I couldn't find little jars to hold the jumbo pencil! Does it dry it out? or does it really work?! Thanks :D

  • They work really well. It hasn't dried out at all - they are still the same consistency that they were before I depotted them.

  • I have jumbo pencils from Avon but never imagine you can depot them and it was so easy!!!

    thanks

  • Thanks! I just find them so much more convenient to use when they are depotted.

  • This was REALLY helpful.

  • Thanks! I'm really glad it was helpful.

  • hey i subbed really good video xx btw do you know if there is a good uk website to buy nyx

  • Thanks! I'm not sure to be honest with you.

  • Where do u find ur NYX? are they in Canada? I can never seem to find any NYX

  • I buy it at Pharma Plus. If you go to the NYX Canadian website, they have a store locator that will tell you which stores near you sell it.

  • i've never thought of de-potting these pencils!!!

this is such a good idea =D

  • I just find that it prevents the wasted product you get from sharpening.

  • I used an Embossing Heat tool from Michaels or AC Moore and it worked great.. It took less time(2mins) and it isn't loud..It does get very hot so be careful.. you have to keep it moving up and down the pencil

  • I've never tried that. I'll have to look for one of those.

  • 789jc-->personally honey, i don't think you have the right to tell anyone they are gross because of something they choose to do. i'm sure there is something about you that others would not choose to do or would 'think in their heads' that you are gross. by putting someone down that you dont even know shows how jealous and disrespectful you truely are. but you, i think need to apologize for calling her gross because of something she does. get over yourself honey! you make yourself sound pathetic.

  • Thanks so much for your support. I have no idea why that person posted that on this video - this video has absolutely nothing to do with smoking. He/she must be trying to get some attention or something.

  • You are soo welcome! I hate cyber bullying. Bullying alone is a waste of time. Karma will soon catch up to these low life asshole's. Haha, sorry about my language. But my heck, like serriously. Grow up kidss. (: Im only 17, and I know better than to judge someone upon what they choose to do, what they choose to do, shouldnt affect us who dont even know them, other than over the internet. And plus+++ what the hell even brought up smoking?! Her video was upon depoting a nyx jumbo eye pencil pencil

  • smokin is nasty ur gross DONT SMOKE

  • What on earth does this video have to do with smoking???

  • yeah seriouslyy! are you that jealous and so low that you have to say shit over the internet? now come on KID, lets grow up a little, its time to get a life and learn some respect.

  • Thanks for the info! This is awesome!

  • Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful!

  • usefull i wouldnt have thought of this technique

  • Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful for you!

  • useful :D

  • Thanks! I'm glad it was useful to you!

  • Thank you SOOOO much for making this, i need to depot mine badly...

    <33

  • Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful!

  • I like this better than putting it in the microwave... you waste some of the pencil when you put it in the microwave...

  • Thanks!

  • i love the trick of holding the cream in the empty shadow container! i would have never come up w/ that lol

  • Thanks! I like reusing things whenever I can.

  • i did what you did lastnight and the cream started to come out where the hinge is =[ i was like oh no lol but thank you so much im glad i came across you vid and yes i did sub

  • Oh no...that hasn't happened to me so I wonder if there was a fault in the pencil. You can also remove the hinge or end peice with a pair of plyers if you want to. I'm so glad you liked the video. Thanks so much for subscribing also.

  • you killed the pencil :(

  • It keeps the same consistency even after being depoted and is so much easier to apply. A lot of people fine the pencils more convenient, but I it's just easier for me to apply it with a brush.

  • is the consistentcy of the creamness the same after depotting these? cuz i really want to depot mine. but do they get hard.. and not be creamy anymore?

  • The consistency stays exactly the same. Mine are all still as creamy as they were in the pencil.

  • Thank you!! This really helped!

  • You're very welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful!

  • Thankyou so much for sharing this video.! i always wanted to learn how to depot these! i was thinking putting it in the microwave lol! but this way looks so much easier and less messier..

  • Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful. Some people do it in the microwave. I've never tried it that way.

  • cool :)

  • Thanks!

  • you should have taken the top thing off too.

  • I know some people take the top thing off, but I don't find it necessary and I never do it.

  • thank you! this was very helpful =)

  • Thanks! I'm glad it helped you!

  • your hair would look really cute if you straightened your bangs!!

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to make a suggestion. I am quite happy with my hair the way it is actually, but I do appreciate you letting me know sharing your opinion.

  • the top is easy to get off w/ pliers(spelling?).

you should get a hair cut and grow your bangs out, because you look like you're from the 80's/90's. not trying to be mean, just helpful.

  • I know that...I never take the top off though...Oh, and I like having bangs and long hair - perhaps you don't keep up with current trends, but bangs are very big this season. Perhaps you should learn some manners...not trying to be mean...just helpful... You know it never ceases to amaze me that the only people who leave rude comments like that are the people who don't even show themselves in their own videos... sad world we live in...

  • Where do you buy NYX products in Canada?

  • I buy them at Pharma Plus and from what I understand Rexall sells them as well. If you go to the NYX website they have a store locator that can help you find the closest store to you that sells it.

  • Thanks for the quick response~! I found a store 30 mins away from me. Where I was living in the east coast before NXY does not sell past Quebec. That is why I never heard of the products before youtube,

  • I had no idea they weren't available any further east than Quebec. I'm so glad you were able to find a store nearby.

  • does it work with any eyeshadow pencils ?

  • I imagine that it would, but I can't promise because I haven't tried it with other eyeshadow pencils. I only know for sure that it works with the NYX jumbo pencils.

  • in order for it to work, what does it require? for the shadow to be creamy and thats all rights?

  • That's pretty much it actually.

  • would it effect anything if i melt some and then stop, and then continue melting it the next day? like not constantly melting.

  • I have no idea. I've never tried it.

  • Wow! I didn't know we could do this, thanks!

    ~y~

  • You're very welcome! I'm glad it was helpful to you!

  • very helpful!
