  • nice review in ur opinion wut would u rate this machine outta 10 and do u recomend it to a hip hop dj who wants to sample and make his own beats

  • Thanks bro !!

  • hi man, my name is tomas, im from argentina, i've recently bought an mpc 500 and im checking your videos, unfortunately the link that you put in the tutorial about free drum beats is no longer available, so first i'd like to ask you to get me the kit, i promise you if a learn how to use it i'll make a tribute tutorial in spanish for argentina in your honor because there is no even one here, hundred thanks!

  • can i put my own drum kit in the mpc 500

  • I found this a big help. I'm buying a five hundred in a week or so and I found it helpful to see what the layout of the machine is like. I've used a friends 2000 so I'm kind of familiar with different functions but I can see the 500 is very different ( I had no idea the step editor/ effects panel etc. was acceseed through the pads so that was nice) All in all thanks for helping out a few clueless folks and I hope I get as much out of my fi' hunnit as you obviously do. Peace

  • waste of 7 mins rookie

  • @paulkash1 waste of YOUR 7 minutes.

  • can u sample music from your laptop?

  • i have a question can you please explain this to me i own a mpd 32 at home and a mpk88 that i use to make most of my beats on and i was looking into buying a mpc to make beats on the road and on trips i read somewhere that the 500 is the only battery powered one so i was planning on getting it do you think its worth it?

  • very nice presentation thx

  • 400 bucks in US for mpc1000, 799 EURO in Ireland, why i chose to do music?....

  • RIOS!! can you help?? just bought the 500 and am struggling on the very basics. just saw another clip about the 1000 saying you have to upload sounds and samples on it as nothing is preloaded. is this the same on the 500?? is it blank?? thanks

  • why dont you just chop at kicks and snares? in other words the count of the music

  • does this model have that swig feature the mpk's and mpc1000 have?

  • Bird? I know this going to be good.

  • Never touched a mpc in my life. Scooped up the 500 this saturday. watched all the vids then a few hours later made a beat . Big props to this man.

  • that bird is awesome

  • Cute Bird:)

  • cool quaker parrot man- I'm a MPC user, myself and also have a parrot (conure). They are essential to full sounding beats.

  • i want a mpc 500 so bad bud dont got the dough, nice parakeet anyways

  • hey rios how come when i set up my mpc as a middi to the fpc i dont get anysound it fucntion fine just when i try to hit the pads no sound ccomes out of the fpc can you help me please

  • like the bird :D!!

  • thats work just like a calculator.... kinda...

  • This helps me

  • Hey Rios,

I really enjoy your vids, some good information bro!

My question is: is it harder to chop a sample on the 500 than the 1000?

Pls let me know cuz i'm about to buy one, but i dont really know wich one.

    Greets from Holland!

  • Hey rios, what kind of mixing software should I get for my computer

  • Great tutorial man! im gettin a 500 soon im so glad u made these mpc tutorials! oh ya cool parot

  • 2x16 lcd?

    no thanks

  • Thanks bro, cool video, very helpful, Too many videos on here do not show you anything about the machine. The portability of this machine is its selling point as opposed to the 1000. Also, cool bird, very chilled out hehe.

  • im tryin to hook up my mpc to my mixer but cant manage to record samples from my turntable. does the mixer have to be set on phono or line? and should i just be hooking up the mpc output to the mixer, or input to mixer as well?

  • where can i get some good kits from?

  • wow funny, mine has the red thing on the rec gain knob and the white thing on the main volume knob, while yours is the other way around..... wassup with that?

  • How much does it usually cost?

  • Love the bird

  • I just got one and mine did not come with any RAM in it :( Will you tell me what kind of RAM it takes and what the max i can put in it please?

  • Man that bird, is killn me.

  • good shit bro

  • that bird is rockin the fuck out

  • Yo rios man I just got a mpc500 today. All I have is the machine. Do I need a mixer or can I just use speaker monitors to play my sound?

  • They need to get rid of the batteries an make a inturnal rechargable sours like a laptop.

  • Thx man you helpt me alot <3

  • good post. good job

  • Thanx man! This is the sorta thing that's really useful XD Great Work man

  • thx man i would love to have a bird like u haha

  • hey i just got mine and when i press the pads it wont make any noise. but when i play a certain song on like top gun or sunny itll work but the individual pads dont when on sunny or top gun. How i get them to work and make noise?

  • @josephtsykes make sure the samples are assigned to the pads in the program. Hold down the shift button and the pad that has program assigned to it. This will take you into program mode. You should be able to select params in the program mode. Afterwards select the pad you'd like to assign a sample to by touching the pad. The pad is consider a note assign number as well as a pad. If you've loaded any samples you can now scroll by turning the data wheel until your sample shows on the pad

  • For you peeps below, befoe getting ANY mpc, ask yourself "what do I want to do with it?"

The MPC 500 is a GREAT machine, but it is limited in what it can do. Before deciding between a 500 or a 1000, you need to research on functions. 12 pads versus 16 pads can make a big difference. 500 has limited effects etc.

Right now the 500 is all I personally need but many people go for the 1000 because of 3rd party OS and sheer power of the 1000.

Big up on the videos Rios.

  • 1 Thing about upping your ram with the card be VERY CAREFUL putting it in... I broke my clips VERY EASILY and it cost me like 300 to fix.

  • hey man how can i put my own sounds on the memory card?

  • cool bird man

  • yo rios what do u use to sample? i love the shit u sample sounds real nice

  • ment to say what u use as samples

  • haha! i'm doing the same, selling or trading my 2000xl for a 1000 or even 500!

  • you must be crazy ..... the 2000xl is much better than the 500 ,,,

  • i got a 3000le, just for portability

  • word up .. i feel ya on that 1 .. the 500 is cool for potability ,,

  • Cool video. I have a 2000 but I'm selling it so I'm deciding between the 1000 and 500. Props to you for teaching us noobs about the machine. I wish you'd do the other machines, too lol. :D

  • HOW MUCH FOR YOUR 2000?

  • so i use fl studio. and in my opinion i make some pretty ill shit cuz i make wat I wana hear not wat someone else does. but anyway i just got a job and the first thing that came to my head is 'now i can buy an mpc'. no joke. so ya whoever knows fl studio they know that time stretching a sample is a fkn breeze. but ive heard that time stretching on an mp is difficult. i dono. im planning to get the 500 since it looks convenient. i thought about a 1000 or above but i guess im kinda intimidated

  • Dude youre awsome big up from sweden, i was just wondering if i could sample from my ipod. creative zen and so on? can i do that?

  • that's the only way i sample- mp3's.

  • Bought my 500 this weekend. Watched these vids. Made a beat with in a few hours. Big props to this dude

  • Bought my 500 this weekend. Never touched a mpc in my life. Watched these vids. Made a beat with in a few hours after buying the mpc. Big props to this dude

  • Ok very nice video! Listen, I'm about to buy one, but in the beginning I was supposed to buy an MPC 2000XL, that's some high level I know but in a way, it's my first MPC. You suggest I begin with the 500? Thanks alot!

  • my suggestion would be getting a 1000. it's a really good mpc and if i could start over again it would be that one. i love the 500 but having the 4 extra pads and bigger screen comes in handy.

  • Aight thanks I'll see what I can do with that. You right the screen is way too small!!

  • @riosbeatz1 you just answered my question as well, thank you.

  • cool vid :)

  • thanks. i'm glad these videos have been a help. matter of fact i didn't realize they would become so watched.

  • yo rios what going on i had my mpc for 3years and this is the best video iv seen yet i was wondering if you could chop up a soul sample so ppl like me can download it to make our own beat thank and keep them coming

  • i think i can. i'll have to look for a nice sample.

  • thank you so much very very helpfu! i'm gonna watch the other videos now.

  • awesome. i'm glad it helps.

  • watch your bird with the ceiling fan

  • hahaha. been there and done that.

  • is that a bat or a rat on your shoulder?

that wild animal scares the crap out of me..

  • a love bird. not wild but loving.

  • nice video man, i want to start makin beats i know nothin about it at all, but i wanna start out with the mpc 500, would u recomend for me to start out with mpc500 for beginers ? thanks

  • i honestly don't call the 500 a beginner mpc. you have to know what everything does and soemtimes it can feel overwhelming. it's a good device but if i had to start all over again i'd get a 1000.

  • is that a wacom tablet

  • yup it sure is.

  • I see you got that Shai Linne

  • you know it. one of the greatest emcees for sure.

  • Yo I just got an mpc 1000 does alot of what you show in these tutorials still apply?

  • you can check mpc 1000 tutorials also get a e-book for a 1000&join the akai mpc forum. A lot of people will tell you to RTM =Read The Manual. They actually have a section for each mpc also peace.

  • actually the main funtions are still the same except that certain programs might need a certain button pressed that might be different than the 500. but like metamophisis said you can check out the mpc forum.

  • did he just sy he just got off the phone with his man?

  • friend, buddy, pal, my boy, my homie, like that's my man right there. not a homo homie. don't flip.

  • si spiegaci anche che cos'è la plastica e perchè si utilizza...

  • translation?

  • anyone here use logic 8 for macs? i heard its good and if so do you know any place i can download it off of....thanksss

  • thanx for the cool overview video. i ordered one today ;)

looking forward watchin your other vids for getting started with my mpc.

  • ay do u use reason??

  • Man this had been so helpful. I hope to see more info from you Rios. New to this, I'm like the guy that just got out and I still have my platforms with the fishtank in them. Hey do you know where you can get some good Hammond B3 w/Leslie samples?

  • thanks for the tut i was looking to get one

  • thanks so much for the samples

  • is it possible to pass to the mpc memorie samples from any software sequencer...like the virtual instruments and the simulations in logic...so i can take them live without having to take the computer, and even controlling them with a midi keyboard? i wanna be able to play my mtron samples live with a keyboard...will the mpc be able to do the job? just put the choirs, strings, flutes samples on the mpc, then attach a midi keyboard and play as if i had the keyboard attached to the computer... bye

  • your REC knob should be red,and your master volume should be a white noych on there...

did you change em around lol?

  • Comment removed

  • do you hav to have batteries even if its plugged in already? lmk

  • nope.

  • I ordered a 128 mb ram but I guess guy hooked me up, he gave me a 256 mb ram card, works great :)

  • are you stupid he gave you a 256 computer ram double sided hence the mpc 500 only uses one side do your research boi

  • Hey man, I'm lookin into buyin an mpc, hopefully the 1000 on ebay, but unfortunantly were poor so I dont think its going to happen. So my question is, do you regret buying the 500? I'm just asking because this is what i'm probably going to end up buying scince FL8 is so damn hard to sample shit on. According to what iv'e heard the small screen gets annoying and the buttons are really hard to press compared 2 the 1000. If you could get back to me that would be tight, thx bro.

  • hey how's it going? well to answer your question- nope; i don't regret buying this at all. in fact i love this little machine. true that it is different from having the 1000 since it's missing the big screen and extra row of buttons but it gets the job done well. i would say if you need a bigger screen then be patient and save up a little more for the 1000. the 1000 is a wonderful machine but i'm the type to have my stuff on the go and this mpc suits me well. keep looking around and don't rush.

  • sup rios..got a Q?..i dont have the 128mb exp but i tried to load a sample into the mpc but now its says its too full...how do i erase what was recorded or loaded into the mpc and also how do i find out where what i loaded in is?? if you can help me that would be great...thank again man....aloha

  • oh yeah..thank for the drum kit link...helped out alot...if you got more please feel free to uh...you know...hahahaha..thank for real though..peace from the HI state...

  • what's the diffrents Between The RAM Memory Car and The CF?,If I Got the 16RAM Card and a four Gig CF Card its kinda the same no?

  • hey what's up! you're going to want to upgrade the ram because it will allow for longer record time and faster functioning on the mpc. the cf card is just how much you can store on the card.

  • ahh o.k.,Thx! i just thoghout that you can save your recordings on the CF...btw:

    can i?

    thx

(Sorry for my long ass question im very intrested in that stuff...)

  • no question is to long. hahaha! yeah you save your progress onto the cf but first everything is on the machine. so if you have limited space on your machine you're going to save only that much.

  • hey man, thanks for the vids,i just bought a 500 and im having this problem that i managed to fix but it came back.if i set say dj kick 1 to all 12 pads, some give a different sound to the other pads,i messed with the velocity and stuff and fixed it but it must have reset to them, any ideas?

  • ok i'm trying to understand the question. does it sound off when you set them to all the pads or something?

  • its cool i fixed it. fx was set on some of the pads.

  • Oh & good to see you have my buddy on there with you! He's on your shoulder chillin'! Lol!

  • Nice as always! I'm amazed at how you & Hedtec utilize the MPC 500 because most peeps think it's mostly a toy! It's all about using what you have because all of us don't have that long paper like some people! Nice tutorials bruh! Stay up on the beats!

  • yup it's not a toy. it works just as well as the bigger bro's and for a fraction of the price. people have slept on this little guy for way too long. it's a shame. and yeah pepe chillin' like always.

  • i have that same after market CF card ha ha!!

  • yeah whats up with the q-link fader. i need to learn about that. another informative vid from my man rios.

  • thanks for the videos rioz

  • always

  • jajaja! yo trato.

  • no es tanto. no mas el mpc, todo los coneciones, y un cf card. claro que si vas a necesitar una computadora pero ya tienes eso.

  • can you show how you have everything wired up, i.e, mixer, soundcard, turntable, laptop thanks

  • well i only have the ac adapter powering it and the speakers connected into it. i don't have any mixing boards or anything like that. yet.
