And ceiling fans from the 60s back to 1882 when Philip Diehl introduced the first electric ceiling fan are much better! They had very ornate designs, and VERY heavy-duty cast-iron motors! Many antique ceiling fans that have been around for over 100+ years are still running today, fully restored and reconditioned by masters and with proper care will outlast you or even me! Plus, using reconditioned products helps save the environment!
Honestly, I like the fans from the 70s through the 90s better, when there were many American made fans on the market, and much more attractive designs, in my opinion. Ever since 2001, most American manufacturers moved their factories to China, and therefore lowered their quality significantly. And not to mention, most modern designs are just downright ugly in my opinion. As for remote controls, they've been around since the early 1980s when Casablanca Fan Co. designed the Inteli-Touch control.
Many ceiling fans are made to circulate air, but if you want a real fan, you should buy it from the quality company like Casablanca.

One last detail: Modern ceiling fans are just made to circulate your central air, while older fans were made to actually cool!

I see many fans on reverse, and after I switch them to forward, they remained on forward.
