I was wondering myself what the qualifications of the border officers was to recognise WMDs. Can they tell a industrial timing circuit from an industrial temper measurement circuit, can they say which of these may be for use in a WMD and which may not. But I agree this trial was a farse as to what these BP agents testified to.
I work with Dogs, and whether they are K9 or BP trained, NO DOG is 100% accurate, and are ALWATS influenced by the handler.
They react to false positives regularly.
For them to determine between concealed humans, and Humans driving openly is virtually impossible, and is only reacting to handlers actions.

I was wondering myself what the qualifications of the border officers was to recognise WMDs. Can they tell a industrial timing circuit from an industrial temper measurement circuit, can they say which of these may be for use in a WMD and which may not. Can they tell C4 in a box which would normally contain, for instance, solidified popcorn oil from if that same box contained solidified oil. Are the dogs train in 3 fields? I would bet most anyone able to build a WMD could pass it by these people.

if the validity of whether or not a dog is 100% correct or not has just been questioned and found to be wrong, then how does this case not completely remove all k9 units in service from active duty on the grounds that no accuracy records are kept and that they have been proven to be wrong. those dogs provide probable cvause even when there isnt any?

This case needs to go to a national level. Its boggles the mind that our law enforcement has delegated determinations of crimes being commited to a DOG. They actually say with a straight face, these dogs through deductive reasoning, cognitive thought or a crystal ball make decisions of folks hiding.... then apparently give nonverbal commands to humans to detain.
