  • Can you help me please ? I'd like to knit a beanie with a sideways cable in it, I know I have to start by knitting the cable and then pick up the stitches on the edges ( to rib the bottom part of the beanie and do the top part of the hat ) but I don't know if I have to pick up all the stitches, do you know ?

  • Hello there, do you need to pick the stitches from the extreme edge ? You seem to be picking a little bit before that but I can't tell for sure

  • @mersylla

actually on the video I think I was picking them up one in. sometimes it;s easier that way.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy Ok thank you ! I've seen many picking up stitches videos but this one seems to give the nicest result that's why I asked

  • Question -- You only picked up a few stitches on this scarf for demonstration. If you were going to edge the whole length of the scarf, would you need to put all the stitches on the needle at the same time? Thanks!

  • @ljrdlw

YES....I did that on my Bamboo Stitch Blanket when I added a Picot hem. Please keep watching. New video on today. Look for me on facebook too.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy ...Judy, the scarf I'm working on is going to be 40" long, there is no way picking up all those stitches on the side of the scarf is going to fit on a DPN.

    (lightbulb moment)

Ok, well, I was typing this, it dawned on me...duh, use a circular...ok, this blondie is ready for bed...after I watch a few more of your videos...Thank you for all the great video's, I've learned a lot from you.
