@billyjoedopesmoker ... @Thecuregalore94 Duh, these postings only allow you so many characters, so one must be frugal and edit carefully so as to make the most out of the limitations imposed by the system, hence the truncated syntax... or are you a newbie to this process ? Apparently your ability to perceive this technical limitation and my end run around it is as limited as your overall philosophic perspective. Cure yourself before you pronounce your galore-ness, false Dr... Nukes kept us from WW3...Remember MAD ?
@videocanone hey einstein, before you start challenging other's logic, you should take a look at your own. any halfwit knows that you can't prove that something didn't happen because of a set of circumstances that existed when there is no falsifiability of the hypothesis. in other words, there were nukes. there was not a world that didn't have nukes. so, we can't know what would have happened had there been no nukes. you've been brainwashed by a political science instructor, or a ROTC queen.
@videocanone furthermore, there was a WW3, but it wasn't fought directly between the usa and the ussr. they funded and equipped tinhorn dictators and despots in developing countries around the world between 1950 and 1990. during that time around 350 million died directly and indirectly as a result of the ultimate chess match between the 2 superpowers. it was called the Cold War. it was only cold in the usa and the ussr. it was hot in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and hundreds of millions died.
@billyjoedopesmoker I am referring to the lack of another ww2 type conflagration. I know all about 'wars of the third world' as we called them during my days in the US Army. For sure the proxy wars fought between the superpowers after ww2 could be thought of as a type of ww3 if you twist words a bit. Now we have a forth world war ... wars in places that have no real govt, the 4th World, like Somalia, parts of Pakistan, etc, essentially the war against Al Quaeda ... wars against non Govt. groups.
@videocanone yep. i think ya got that rite. aint no otha way to use words cept to twist em to a person's political and philosophical beliefs. thanks fer explaining yer point to me. i still think 350 million deaths because of a superpower chess match cant be overlooked. and maybe that backlash is comin about in them wars against non-government groups' retaliation for lost family, homes, and everthing but hope cause a actions o usa and ussr. or maybe them groups is just neo-nationalism or sumthin.
@videocanone its also probably a bit more complicated than just a war against al-Qaeda because each of those countries you mentioned have their multiple national or ethnic identities, and each of those identities have several groups that want to be the top, an them groups have leaders who want to be the big dog. its a mess. an elements in governments like ISI in Pakistan cause further complications, at least according to Indian media. makes one happy to have lived most of one's life already.
@billyjoedopesmoker Before Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan you had a civil war between the warlords after the USSR withdrew. The Pashtuns straddle the border between the 2 'stans and feud with other tribes. And the ISI was the Taliban's sponsor and with them stopped the civil war. Al Qaeda fled the CIA and MI6, received sanctuary in Afghanistan and became their covert ops and intel group. Then 9-11, then the US invasion, then they got santuary in the autonomus tribal regions of Pakistan.
@videocanone long before that, Alexander the Great considered it a foolish idea to attempt a conquest on the mountain tribes in that part of the world. no foreign power has ever occupied that land for very long. it belongs to the people who have always been there. and no, 10 or 20 years is not long in that part of the world. unfortunately, hubris and ignorance are a deadly mix for everyone concerned, except the morons in washington and nyc making arrogant and stupid foreign policy decisions.
@billyjoedopesmoker By now you should have figured out that occupiers of that region do so to extract resources or to utilize the ancient trade routes there. The USA has a habit of invading for one reason and then lingering around for other reasons, like to try out new weapons and nation building. In point of fact the plan now is to train the Afghanis to take over their own security in the near future. We will all see if they are up to the task. Mostly we went there in vendetta for 9-11.
@videocanone well now, that's the commonly accepted reason, but the way it looks now is that it was just to establish a base for the invasion of Iraq, at least among the war mongers who sat in that administration. according to other commonly heard explanations the whole fiasco was simply to establish a larger presence in a strategic part of the world where the lifeblood of the energy companies lies, a few thousand km to the west. the disgusting Libya incursion follows the same recipe it appears.
@billyjoedopesmoker Paul Wolfowitz and his trolls at AIPAC plotted a host of regime changes in their 'plan for a new amerikan century' think tank paper some time ago, but I doubt they had any idea of the shitstorm that would follow, the cost in $ and blood to the US and its allies, or the fact that the energy dollars would NOT materialize as a result of conquest. Economically, war just does not pay the bills unless you are an arms dealer. AIPAC dual citizenship zionist goons should be HUNG.

@hunchybunker your implication of the bush administration is simply unfair. a terrorist attack like that is simbly mindboggling and to forecast it and prevent it perfectly would have been nearly impossible. the rest of the bush era is open for criticism but to blame september 11 on that administration shows a deliberate misinterpretation of the facts. i'm embarrassed that you could have such good musical taste but these terrifying ideas about the office of the president of the USA
