  • Stan is a god.

  • I'm a huge fan of Black Sabbath, but this cover owns!!!

Love Leonard's singin' and those drums are freakin' awesome!

  • The vocalist has great energy. :)

  • one of the best covers of all times

  • Amazing Memories flooding back... It reminds me of Johnny from X factor lol.

  • They're punk because they are nothing like all the other punks of the time.

  • @Skankwire

I dunno-the ramones were pretty close in style and inspiration. The Dickies were of the same school as the Ramones, the Boys, buzzcocks, Undertones, vibrators etc. type pop punk of the 70's-not the sex pistols, clash angry political type punk.

I always have preffered the poppy side of punk because-I mean-come on it's rock n roll-how seriously can we take it? That's what makes it fun!

  • man i allways laugh my ass off when i see his mullet!!! hahhaa

  • brilliant thanks for this upload

  • i love Leonard tidying up with the dust pan during the guitar solo!!

  • brilliant ,dickies best song thanks fr posting.

  • So you dig Black Sabbath ? Leave it to that, please !

  • Ive amusing myself by Mullet spotting among punk band members, the Dickie singers one out front at the moment, over taking the Newtown neurotics bassist. Anyone else spot a punk mullet let me know, apart from the new model army, Im well aware of their hair crimes.

  • @Gnottason what do you mean hair crimes. its a totally universal hair cut, you got your business in the front and party in the back.

  • @alexlikesfire lol, I cant argue with the last part, but E.T with a Mullet??

  • @Gnottason now that you mention it he does look like E.T. with a mullet.

  • @Gnottason The Alarm dont even count.

  • geat stuff i saw this band at cbgb years ago very fun band to sell live

  • ☮.¸¸.●*(♥♫(♥♪~♥♫d(-_-)b♫♥)♪♥~♫♥)*●.¸¸.☮.

  • Szkoda że fani tych cip dzisiaj dalej są brudni, groźni i źli a metale to 16 letnie pryszczate tłuściochy walące kite pod metalike. So sorry :(

  • Wyglądają jak cipy i tak samo śpiewają... Za takie pokaleczenie Sabbathów powinni ich spalić na stosie.

  • metalheads be mad because the dickies made this shit punk as fuck

  • reasons to be alive T HI S

  • Actually, Black Sabbath is considered "Metal" and therefore this song is considered "Metal", but only if you're into labels instead of the actual music. This is rock and roll, and that's all it is, and musically it's not any different from much early punk and other rock. Paranoid is also a completely atypical B.S. tune, as it is fast. There was no Heavy Metal "genre" at that point in time (when the original was made), and B.S. music is so varied that it's unfair to label them just "Heavy Metal".

  • Anybody with anything bad to say about the almighty Black Sabbath or the one and only Dickies, can go fuck themselves wildly.

  • @UncleSlam81 Amen brother! I would say The Dickies are history's BEST cover band but they wrote amazing originals as well. "You Drive Me Ape You Big Gorilla" is one of early punk's best offerings. Not to mention later stuff a la "Pretty Please Me", "Killer Klowns, etc.

  • That singer is on something

  • wtf... ...

  • this lot might as well be playing it on a hammond organ for the effect it's having...I nearly fell asleep its so tame...not to mention shit.

  • nerds playing metal hahahaha

  • @monoclecobra Metal is predominantly played by and listened to by nerds

  • am i the only one to think the lead singer looks like the keyboardist Flake Lorenz out of Rammstein?

  • Taggen hade varit london, janne la kuken i groggen ! Dickies var iSverige.

  • I like this version, however, i do not think it was very distinctive. if you listen to their cover of Sound Of Silence (Paul Simon), that was very different distinctive and memorable. This cover is good, but there are alot of covers that sound like this.

  • 26 people just found out that Black Sabbath covered this song

  • @BakaGaijin626 HAHAHA fucking classic comment.

  • great stuff, can't wait to see them in Milan in a couple of weeks ... hope they'll play this one

  • Paranoid like a Ramones

  • Dickies were the best fucking joke band outta LA

  • Ozzy became a lot more famous cause of this!!!!

  • @crustyeyegoop In your opinion they did, but i think they did a really good cover, thats my opinion.

  • The Dickies made history by killing Black Sabbath & making Ozzy cry. :-P

  • 24 people still acquire their sanity!

  • AWESOME :)

  • hahaha, the dickies sure had a way of making songs their own....awesome.

  • Get up and skank! :P

  • ok, who hasn't done PARANOID!

  • horrible, ese titere cantante no puede superar nada en ese cover.. me gusta el punk, pero no es un tema para cagarlo de esa manera.

  • Tony Iommi - punk rocker in disguise?

  • i got here from the black sabbath video and i have to say the original is better

  • Just saw them Friday night and they played this. Sounded GREAT, as did everything else they played.

  • They were extremely good at what they did. They had the perfect mix of energy and weirdness.

  • LOVE, love, LOVE the Dickies--saw them many times, best one was at the Whiskey where The Misfits opened for them as a surprise act. They need to be in a hall of fame somewhere getting their due.

  • hey this is a pretty kick ass cover. did ppl really dress like that in 1979 or what

  • @nativeforeigner Hatin on the power mullet or what?hahaha

  • this sucks

  • @thegabewilsonreport I NO UR AN ID 10T

  • @Serenberg At least I can spell

  • Haha, love it. Punk is always like the retarded little brother of hard rock. You know, the one that's always running into things head first and stuff like that.

  • @ManInDarkAlley Punk was original as to hard rock was not bieng that it's a rip off of the 60s ergo making hard rock the gifted retard that was a thank god he's not in our family. Blaack Sabbath..LMAO Hey Ozzy have you snorted any ants to day? lol yeah hard rock is so right in it's head.. fail.

  • @HanoverFist247 Hard Rock is like the long haired guy in the family picture. You know, the one who gets piss-drunk all the time, likes fast cars 'n gets all the chicks. Black Metal is the emo chick. Country and blues are the parents and regular pop music is the slutty sister that gets ahead in life laying on her back. It all adds up man.

  • seeing em tonight!

  • Is this humor or what.. stupid la-lal-la-play

  • this is proof that the middle class were the first hardcore band.

  • @dutchmn really? i hears aids. but i guess i would claim that other stuff to if it were aids.

    either way sabbath rules!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW!! i like this punk version than the original

but got to be honest, black sabath came up with it first and it sound more oreginal and classic and it will never be change in to something ealse

hope justin biever doesnt ruind this song and turn it into something...

i dont want to think about it!!! =O

  • Man! This is the first band I ever saw live. Would have ben bout 78/79. They were supporting The Boomtown Rats. What a night! My ears were ringing for days...

  • used to go to my local youthclub many many moons ago and this song so reminds me of then.

  • i qued for about an hour at Newcastle mayfair only to be turned away - too young... bah

  • @jayeevee what year mate?

wasnt till 1990 i got to see them and the place was only half full..mind they were fucking class!!

  • @micknufc must have been 79 when the fans put the HMV window in due to the crush when they did a public appearance

  • Good Stuff.

  • 3 of these guys are dead from aids now.

  • You guys are so much better looking than Sabbath.

  • excellent, better than Sabbath....

  • fucking class

  • I love punk and new wave, but this sucks. Great song messed up.

  • black sabbath kick your ass

  • SHIT.

  • what the fuck¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • The whole album is super tight, high energy skate punk, xcept for the "Midget's Revenge"...on yellow vinyl, even..

  • Great song. And done at 150mph makes it even greater. Brilliant. Well done Dickies.

  • it is a kula

  • A breath of fresh air, especially for anyone who's had the misfortune of hearing the BS version!

  • Peter Brady, Lead Guitar

  • Good, but Sabbath they ain't.

  • You had to be there...they got signed! Of all of the LA punk bands they were the most commercially viable....RIP Chuck Wagon (Bob Davis...) I knew you and loved you well!

  • looks like todd rundgren's long lost brother

  • lol hes cleaning during the solo xD

  • i think im in love

  • GIGAAAAANTOOOOOR, GIGAAAAANTOOOOOR, GIGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!!!!

  • They turned a shit song good!!

  • Mullet + bowl cut = Bullet !

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU IDIOTS!!!!

    YOU'RE RUINING OZZY'S FUCKING SONG!!!!!

  • Sux but it's better than their Banana Splits cover.

  • when metal goes punk

  • Good version, does the song justice. And as an avid punk/hardcore fan I have to say, anybody who puts down the mighty Black Sabbath can go right ahead and fuck themselves up the asshole.

  • quicker sounds better. so the dickies version is better than black sabbaths version

  • @carlos465654 RETARD

  • so full of energy!

  • haha nice mullet

  • THE DICKIES ROCK!!!!!

1979 was a good year for L.A. music. I was 16 then, and I used to sit outside the clubs to hear this $#!+. And, they still kill it to this day.

    --Wilby

  • i figured out why people like the dickies so much... its the way they praform... its how they preform... that energy and their additude of not giving a shit except for putting on a 110% show the best way they know how. ...... amazing.

  • i used to have this on 7" clear vinyl that was before cds

  • I've still got it on the clear vinyl as a single, utterly wonderful. So much energy!

The Sabbath version is a classic, but I do feel this is better.

  • I didn't know these guys go way back into the 70's man. I was just 7 years old.

  • So fuckin' great!

  • Absolute depravity!

  • Somehow the Dickies made this song cooler than it already was.

  • @MrSkip68-- LOL--so true!! :-)

  • seein the dickies with bad religion tonight! jealous?

  • @rockmusicfansonly how was it? was it amazing

  • kick ass....dickies rule

  • i was there...

  • If I had to iontroduce a band to my mom it wouldn't be these guys..

If I had to choose a band to play at my party though, i'd go for the dickies...

  • This is a sweet song on opiates!!

    The Dickies' version, of course...

  • So is he sweeping up the awesome that falls off their guitars or something?

  • still got the 7" clear vinyl

  • fuckin' envy 'bout u! (xD)

  • me too:)

  • +1000!

  • I have seen these guys play a couple of times. Most recently at the house of blues on 1-8-10 They opened for FEAR. They sounded good but, they ran around stage with dills and blow up dolls. The bass player was wearing pajamas.

  • @staabinthebox i was at that show too. :D

  • Fabulous song. I hate the singer's silly hairdo.

  • His voice was a lot clearer when he was younger.

  • It's a lot less cartoony in this.. I hate it!
