This is Partykas silver medal jump in the atlanta 96 summer olympics, and the bar is really on 2.37. No hoax at all. I actually also read on swedish wikipedia: (roughly translatet) according to a lot of experts Partykas 2.37 jump is the highest jump ever done. In japan, it was analyzied that the jump would have cleared 2.57m if the bar would have been placed at the same spot that Partyka had his maximun height.

Note that that's not my opninion, only something I read

W 2000 roku skoczył 2.37 i wszystko wskazywało, że ma realne szanse wywalczyć upragnione złoto w Sydney. Niestety wysoka forma prysła. Widocznie taka już specyfika tego jakże pięknego sportu.

Partyka miał pecha. Trafił na MOCNE LATA skoku wzwyż. Teraz wystarczy skoczył 2.30-2.32 i ma się medal, 2.34 daje przeważnie złoto. W tamtych latach 2.34 nie dawało medalu...

i'm from poland and i can assure you - it was 2,37m. it took place during olympic games in atlanta in 1996, partyka cleared 2.37, and austin had his last attempt and he moved to 2.39 and cleared it. Partyka was able to jump 2.39 as well but after 2.37 he was sure he won, and could not focus again. i will never forget it

This jump is absolutely ridiculous. Last week I tied my school record with a jump of 6-3(1.91). I had narrowly missed my first two attempts and then I thought of this jump, I said to myself "get up like Arthur Partyka" and next thing I know I was 3 inches over the bar and I had no idea where that came from. That must of been how he felt. From now on I'm going to think of this jump every time I jump to focus on going up.

If you stop the video at 9 seconds you can clearly see a FOOT level over the bar. As you advance the footage you can also see his feet never drag below that level. With the bar set at 7foot 9 that means he is at least 8foot9 high! That has to be a record!

It is definitely 2.37m. I have this footage at home on video. His 2.37 clearance is actually better than his clearance at 7'8.5". Partyka is a perfect example of how important it is to nail the plant. If he could have done it at the bigger heights, he would have been right up there with Soto/Sjoberg/Paklin.
