Very nicely done - you make a good point. I haven't use my tailstock all that much an at best it is adequate but could use a Luiz Ally make over. Like the cost effective way you approach & resolve this issues. Your choice of background music is also commendable. Thank you for sharing. PS
HI Luiz, can't thank you enough for the great videos. I have a question about the stepper motors and driver box that you have on your machines. Are they the stock ones from sherline?
@tryally is the software the emc/linux provided by sherline? I've been paying much attention to your videos and videos posted by others. Do you have familiarity with mach 3? I watched videos of people using mach 3 and it seems very easy to use, but there are no videos on linux.
@tuscanland Yes, EMC/Linux before, today I use mach3 too, is easy and eficient for lathe and mill.
Soon I will post new videos about many things and I will to show the mach3 in action with sherline machines.
The Linux plataform with EMC is very very good but hardware here in my country is complicated, then, with windows XP and mach3 software finish all troubles
Hi Luiz, great job on fixing up your tailstock! Thank you very much for taking the time to make these videos, and please thank Carlos for translating for you, too.
In part 1 video, I use a disk of German mountain, and his pistol of grease, it is modified by me, it is an instrument of vaccinating Cattle, and work very well with grease.
I have watched all your videos and want to congratulate you for all your excellent ideas and the way you make them a reality. I know that your work is a good inspiration for all the people that have the tools but feel intimidated by them. Keep the good work and go ahead with your videos!
(P.S.: Brasil has a lot of good musicians, maybe you can use their music as background. What you think?)
I prefer to hear the lathe noises. So many videos have music. It's very interesting to me to hear the lathe and the mill. I'll have a better idea of the sounds that are GOOD and the sounds that are NOT good.

There is no guarantee that a new tailstock would be as accurate as the one you built.

Você importou como estes equipamentos (torno e fresa), diretamente ou via alguma outra empresa?
Aonde eu posso encontra-los e a quais preços?
Abraço.

Hi tryally, it has been a while since your last video. We miss your machining videos (if not machining shows). I have 2 questions:
1. what type of slitting saw did you use to cut the tailstock (part 1 video)
2. where can I get the lubrication gun you use in the video? (at 3:47)

do you have an example with the misalignment before you made the adjustement?
Spunkcnc 2 years ago
Hi Spunkcnc
I didn't take pictures of it before.
This tailstock in question was already out of service
The inferior part where slides, loses the paint when they are out of center.
I have 4 Sherline lathe here, and that showed in the video belongs to the first one, that is 6 years old.
