For a cameo appearance, he underplays these bits really well. Any other big actor (say tom cruise) would appear metaphorically shouting "I'm TOM CRUISE! I'M FUNNY! LAUGH!" Here he treats like an actual part, rather than just self promoting himself. Respect!
