I'm originally from San Diego, but I live up here in WA right now. I watched the whole thing unfold online from here, and I thought everything up there was doomed! But all that happened I guess was the power being cut off from the transmitter sites, so only the stations that had generators up there, remained on the air. KPBS TV/FM didn't have a generator, so they got knocked off the air. KSDX 29 was the only station that lost their transmitter when the building it was in was toast.
I lived in stone pointe housing at one time and I was jsut wondering if anyone who lives near jamacha blvd, whitestone rd or maya rd if you know if this fire crept down the mtn and destroyed anything? I can't tell from the view of this video if the fire is coming down or going away. any info would be great! I love SD and hope you guys all recover!! God Bless my old home!!!
I finally find among all the media, and youtube videos something that might answer a question i have. I lived just off of jamacha blvd and whitestone rd near dictionary hill. could someone please tell me if this view of the fire is from the sweetwater reservoir side of mt miguel?
the only way that would be right is....none at all. If this was YOUR house burning, I might leave a comment that it was YOUR house on fire and put negative comments on your comments section. How inconsiderate and thoughtless. thank goodness for the 'spam' button.
wow, looks like all the radio stuff is likely charred nicely by this point. From the way that mountain is shaped, seeing it ablaze in real life was like a laval flow spewing off a volcano.

I can't even see the towers still from where I live because the smoke is so bad. I live in Lemon Grove, it was terrifying seeing this from my kitchen

A more appropriate song would be: "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire....."

I filmed the fire too. I heard that the KPBS radio tower was knocked out and they will be transmitting on a new frequency temporarily...
